I feel like this is a trend that didn’t need to be brought back, especially at $150

tultommy@reddit
The only people buying those things are the rubes they were invented for and marketed to lol.
Global-Jury8810@reddit
Needs some zippers and chains for that price. Double down on trends there.
Gloomy-Moose-4367@reddit
Its wiggity wiggity wiggity wack
PokerbushPA@reddit
Can we take a second and ridicule the name 'Profit Minded Clothing'?
The irony. $150 pants and "Profit" in the name
Capitalism is a disease, not a virtue.
RxR8D_@reddit (OP)
I caught that too. It’s like they didn’t even try to hide it. Temu quality clothing all for a profit.
CaptServo@reddit
Weird_Squirrel_8382@reddit
My nieces are going to be so mad when I buy these before they can.
switheld@reddit
i legit thought this person was on their knees. wtf is up with those proportions???
ZestycloseBid7986@reddit
Perfect for when you kill fitty men.
illustrationnk@reddit
Oompa Loompa doopity dit Camouflage sucks and you look like shit
nellyruth@reddit
Army surplus guys be rich 🤑
RetroBerner@reddit
You can grab BDU pants for under 20 bucks at army surplus store or eBay, 150 is fucking nuts
Diligent_Kitchen7705@reddit
The brand name makes the price tag make SO much more sense.
VincentMac1984@reddit
I used to wear my dad’s old stuff, free.99
mist_kaefer@reddit
I grabbed the chem gear ones because of how baggy they were. I had no idea it would almost ruin my washing machine the first time due to all the charcoal.
broke_fit_dad@reddit
I remember buying BDUs because they were dirt cheap, metal free (did warehouse work for a season)
Tchukachinchina@reddit
Yeah but the real ones don’t come in clown pants size.
RetroBerner@reddit
They're pretty baggy already, I'm not looking to rock JNCOs at 47 years old.
Tchukachinchina@reddit
Same, (44 here) but I have a feeling that we aren’t the target age demographic of these particular pants
adamcmorrison@reddit
We made them popular but our time is over for JNCOs haha
FiveCrappedPee@reddit
I decided to start to rock the parachute pants of z cavalrichies. I just am out of fucks to give.
smokemirrorsunicorns@reddit
oh man i missed these... tho less camo and more other colors. been chuckling for years that gen alpha is all in on the 90s raver pants and i for one have never been happier to throw out all my skinny jeans. the wide leg and inco look i feel at home in
seamonkey420@reddit
still got my white urban camo ones from axeman's surplus back in the early 2000s.. man, i loved white camo back in the day. hehe
tmntmic@reddit
Just reminds me of this
Deep-Interest9947@reddit
If you have old ones in good condition you can probably get several hundred dollars for them. Just like how they still make JNCOs but the ones from the 90s are worth more (again, assuming you didn’t drag them through puddles while stepping on the bottoms for years).
here4dambivalence@reddit
The JNCO sub was active last year but I haven't checked it out in a minute. And were hungry for certain designs like-
7Buddhas, alien, gold Buddha, are some they were searching for... Oh and the boxing gloves. And the big crowns, most of which are 2000 on releases if my memory serves me correctly.
BTW for those who'd be interested JNCO went back to the old thicker material for the last few years. There was awhile where their material was obscenely thin and not like the old school ones. But new ones will set you back $150+
Old ass raver/former clothing whore
DameKitty@reddit
For $150 I might save for a pair. My brother could hide a gallon of milk and a rack of ribs in the pockets without you noticing. Compared to girl pockets where if you're lucky you can fit chapstick......
RxR8D_@reddit (OP)
I would think the “authentic” look would be worth more.
Lil_Brown_Bat@reddit
I can finally find clothes I am comfortable in! Fuck the millennial skinny jeans trend.
jessek@reddit
Jncos were expensive back then, too.
LemurCat04@reddit
I was gonna say, I remember them being like $150 in 1997.
djsynrgy@reddit
I used to get mine on sale at Boscov's for around $20. 😆
LemurCat04@reddit
Niiiice. May Boscov’s always treats you good.
jessek@reddit
And minimum wage was like $4.25
New_Stats@reddit
I remember dropping 90 for a pair of UFOs
truggwalggs69@reddit
I mean when you consider the volume of fabric? It’s like 3 pairs of pants, totally reasonable
Johhnynumber5ht2a@reddit
Exactly....this is equivalent to $70-$75 in 1997. I remember the smaller legged JNCOs being $40 to $50, $80+ for the ones that looked like a denim dress.
0MGWTFL0LBBQ@reddit
For $150, they’re not restarting a trend. They’re providing products to Ross & Marshall’s when nobody wants to pay for them.
Hortos@reddit
Nothing is a tread anymore really because we no longer have anything even remotely resembling a monoculture. Everyone is these tiny miniature echo chambers dictated to them by algorithms. You only saw these pants because your algo pushed them at you, I saw them because I'm on reddit and an old millenial.
Sad_Apple_3387@reddit
Why do they want to look 3’11”?
TragicsNFG@reddit
Is that what they meant by Omaha Stylee?
ErnieBochII@reddit
Those look like Lieutenant Dan’s pants
DHammer79@reddit
"Lieutenant Dan, you got no legs"
brattybabyc@reddit
This is why I grew up wearing boys clothing. Look at all these pockets!
ughyoujag@reddit
Mine were Vietnam vet donations I got at goodwill
Alijony@reddit
Iirc, JNCO jeans were $60 + back in the day. This pricing seems to track with inflation.
Historical-Piglet-86@reddit
I feel like this is an optical illusion. I can’t see anything other than a little person wearing army pants.
Nadathug@reddit
I see guys everywhere with the same bowl haircut, wearing pants like this with short little crop top shirts. It’s like they don’t even know how to dress stupid the right way.
RxR8D_@reddit (OP)
I don’t think we did either 😂
Nadathug@reddit
We looked ridiculous too, but we did it the right way /s
MoarFlavor@reddit
You can /s that all you want, but the fact is the truth hurts. This deep desire to cling to generations they have no clue about and make it look like a walking abomination at the same time is terrifying!
They don’t have their own style, so they attempt to replicate days-gone-by fashion that they see online. It’s disturbing to me, but I also understand it when you’ve never had a real childhood without an algorithm dictating your every move.
Nadathug@reddit
You’re not wrong at all. I’m very conscious of the fact that every generation has their own style and that as each gets older, whatever the kids are doing looks foreign and weird.
However. I have noticed that the new generation isn’t creating something new like each previous one did, to break from their parents style and create their own thing. They’re literally mimicking the same styles and slapping them together like an irl Pinterest board. They can also buy any outfit they want on their phone and have it delivered.
On top of that, their fashion choices aren’t influenced by music scenes or local organic style, the way that kids did in the 90s and early 2000s. Your fashion represented who you were. Nowadays the trend seems to be wearing the same clone outfit as everyone else, or some type of cosplay you have no real life connection to.
MoarFlavor@reddit
Absolutely. It just makes me sad more than anything, honestly. This is a little far-fetched, but it almost feels like the first human/AI hybrid in its infancy. Building your life based solely on information you’ve gathered online.
Now I can’t get the image of Johnny 5 standing in front of a mirror asking “Is this cool?” out of my head! Haha
Nadathug@reddit
Holy shit, I’ve never thought about it in such stark terms, but it’s true. Now I need to get off the internet for the day and go to a record store, lol.
And hey, Johnny 5 had more fashion sense than any of these kids. His cousin was a Harley Davidson, after all.
MoarFlavor@reddit
Hahahaha! Cheers!
absentlyric@reddit
It still shocks me that the bowl haircut even made a comeback, I felt like that one should've been left in the past, it was ridiculous then, and it is now.
Nadathug@reddit
It’s one of those things where the edgy kids started doing it first, because it looked unfashionably stupid. Then it caught on with the mainstream kids, who actually think it’s cool.
MoveCompetitive5742@reddit
haha, agreed. some things shouldn’t make comebacks.
Dog_Baseball@reddit
Ooo wait till it snows, they gonna learn
ADMotti@reddit
50 inch waist, 10 inch leg… fuckin junk!
bikeonychus@reddit
You know what, some of us are damn sick of squeezing our sausage legs into skinny jeans, and if that means $150 pants I could make a parachute out of, then I am all in.
New_Stats@reddit
I had the cutest camo cargo pants back then. The camo was little butterflies
Man I miss those pants, one of the only pieces of clothing I can actually remember
Delta1225@reddit
When we did this in the 90s we went to the surplus store and bought them, I remember the coat I bought said 'Morgan' on it.
absentlyric@reddit
Army Surplus stores don't have surplus the way they used to anymore due to different regulations now when it comes to surplus supplies in the military.
Now "Surplus" stores just carry brands that appeal to that demographic.
boston_homo@reddit
There used to be a great Army surplus store on Boylston st, I remember going there often in the 90s. So much that was good no longer is.
Background-Bend2877@reddit
My parents used to always say, “It all just comes back around.” And man were they right.
DeerWhisperer1@reddit
$150 for a pair of jeans is insane. I cry spending $50-$60 on a pair.
vasectomy7@reddit
LineImpossible3958@reddit
Do you need that much cargo?
JazzlikeAd1555@reddit
Man speak for yourself
General-Carob-6087@reddit
Not exactly the same but I did recently buy a pair of camo cargo shorts. No shame.
