As someone perennially single (not by choice), i usually go out clubbing (alone). Not to some wanky tiger-tiger shit or whatever but particular electronic music nights (usually at least one acceptable option every weekend in london). While there, I get out of the house, i'm less overtly miserable about doing nothing on sunday because i'm hungover, i drink with other people instead of alone, and there's even the possibility of positive interactions with other people/hook ups. Would I prefer being with a partner and having a dance together or a nice dinner, yeah I imagine so but we gota deal with the hand we're dealt.
Diligent-Magazine781@reddit
Why perennially single but not by choice? Genuine Q and not trying to pry (although now I’ve said that I kinda feel like maybe I am prying) 😬 anyhow, don’t answer if you don’t wish to
Leglesslonglegs@reddit
Kinda obvious no? For whatever reason: my insecurities, high standards, genuine bad luck, etc etc etc, you can make up whatever you like there's probably some true in all of the explanations. Not like I set out desiring this.
Born-Assignment-5003@reddit
I’m really enjoying the single life so far, I spend it going to the gym, gaming and I also volunteer and the animal sanctuary where I walk the dogs caged up, I’ve just adopted one
SquirrelMore3325@reddit
Been single for all my life as a 30 year old kissless relationshipless virgin woman. I just stay at home and cry.
gamergrid@reddit
That's a great intro for a dating app! 😝
MisterD90x@reddit

Friends are never too busy. It's a matter where of priority where you are on their list
NobDeRiro@reddit
Yes very single and just spent the evening drinking some cider in the garden
I actually really enjoyed it
Flashy-Increase5073@reddit
I got a Cineworld Unlimited membership recently. Was never that into films but I'll now go a few times a week, I don't really mind going on my own. Helps me a lot.
Outside of that, I play games/read/cook/binge TV shows/go for walks. A lot to keep busy with in this day and age thankfully! Loneliness can't touch me
HauntingNet580@reddit
I go to the cinema a lot on my own (unlimited card holder too). I don’t have to wait until someone else wants to see the same film. I just go. Go with friends too a couple of times a month. But I love going on my own. I enjoy the whole cinema experience. Don’t have a tv so maybe that helps - I don’t have a big screen to watch anything on at home.
Best-Performance-729@reddit
Yep me too! It’s the best
DeifniteProfessional@reddit
I got up at 7:30am and went to the carboot sale. Then I went to Aldi and Tesco, and I spent probably £60 on food and drink and snacks. And then at midday I went for a quick couple of photos with my camera in the nice sun (200 ISO film so gotta make use of the bright day!) and then since 1pm I've been drinking cider and rum and doing some cleaning/tidying lmao, my friends aren't even busy I just wanted some me time
oli_ramsay@reddit
Drive to peak District, do a ten mile hike
tmr89@reddit
Getting a partner and having kids
SerendipitousCrow@reddit
Today I have done house chores, been for a decent walk on the canal, read my book in the garden, washed my car, and now I'm watching a film.
I also like to play video games but haven't today
kittykat7931@reddit
Pottering in the garden, doing stuff with the horse, walking the dog, life admin and relaxing. I’m actually probably more busy than my non-single friends!
Juicy_In_The_Sky@reddit
If you’ve got a garden, horse and dog there’s not much time for anything else ;)
kittykat7931@reddit
You make a very valid point….
dkb1391@reddit
If I didn't have a wife and kids, I'd play so much Warhammer
Legitimate-Leg-4720@reddit
I've been finding social groups of all kind and attending them at the weekend, I always seem to leave with more friends and future plans / meet ups than I can fit in my free time
x99kjg@reddit
Well I've thoroughly washed my car, cut the grass and hedges. Sat in said garden with a pint and a bbq and had a couple of wanks👍can't really think of a better weekend OP.
Itchy-Book402@reddit
I found an event a few weeks earlier. It's a 1920 murder mystery. So over the last week, I completed my outfit, and I'm ready to play the role of a detective. It's the first time I'm doing something like that, but it sounds fun!
ariadnevirginia@reddit
That does sound fun!
ariadnevirginia@reddit
I like to walk down the canal path and feed scraps to the rats who live by the lake.
fishyminge69420@reddit
My friends usually are out but are coming out less and less know, but luckily I know everyone in my town so can go out by myself and always find people to drink with. Other than that I just stay in, get drunk and high by myself, get a takeaway and game/watch TV lol
JennyW93@reddit
Most weekends: Gym, housework/gardening, TV, sleep
Some weekends: visit busy friends
Rarer weekends: take myself on a little day trip or weekend break
pharmer25@reddit
Gaming - playing OSRS Leagues at the moment which is extremely time consuming so I don’t think about having spare time to fill. With the nice weather I’ve also been spent several hours gardening this weekend and last weekend tidying up
DrH1983@reddit
I tend to go a long walk in the mornings, 9 - 12 miles usually. Kills sometime.
Thestickleman@reddit
Get blazed and play videogames
twyt89@reddit
Not single, but when the boyfriend and siblings are busy I take my self on solo dates. Cinema, spa, reading & drinking at the pub, food anything that I enjoy doing really.
Erizo-@reddit
I keep busy with solo trips in the UK and a lot of hobbies - running, taking the dog to new walking places, guitar, piano, painting, sports, games, TV/movies, different classes, mealprep/cooking something new. Of course also see friends and family too. I just try to do enough to talk to coworkers about the next week lol.
itsasilentk@reddit
Housework, online shopping, visit family, dog walks (sunset walks are my fave), spontaneous drives (mainly also at sunset..), car meets, chill in the garden or lounge around in PJ’s.
elaine4queen@reddit
Dog walks.
Then garden, books, telly
thorn312@reddit
Lived on my own for a while (long distance partner) and don't really have many friends nor am I particularly sociable.
Game, read, spend time outside (weather allowing), cooking and baking, watch my comfort media (and re-watch it), go to wildlife parks or botanical gardens.

In addition to all the wholesome stuff...
Head to a busy social pub, preferably with an outdoors social bit. If its shit, a few pints and a bag of chips on the way home. If its good, new friends for the evening. By about the 2 or 3 pint mark you should know.
swoticus@reddit
Catch up on a bit of housework, a stroll around town, bike ride in the sun, afternoon in the garden drinking cocktails and scrolling Reddit then an evening casually cooking something nice and watching a film.
___MorningLovely@reddit
chores, baking bread and brownies, doom scrolling on reddit, journalling.
Distinct_Star9990@reddit
Not single but busy friends and boyfriend currently working abroad - I've been walking a lot and now that its sunny I've been going to sit and read in the park which is lovely, also little things like cafe dates by myself or going round free/cheap museums. getting through the admin ive been putting off too hahaha. but also being more proactive in trying to get in with my friends at times when theyre not busy too!!
Karazhan@reddit
At the mo? I'm lounging in the back garden with a Dexter novel. Enjoying the quiet.
Matchaparrot@reddit
It was sunny where I am so I went to the park, bought a pastry and read outside in the sun. I might go to the beach tomorrow if the weather stays sunny
wardyms@reddit
Most of my friends live a few hours away minimum all over the country. When I was single I’d often just plan in various trips around the country to see them. You learn as you get older when people’s priorities change you can’t just text your mates in the morning and expect to see them that same day. You gotta plan stuff in.
badger906@reddit
Would completely depend on age and interests. I’m not single, but gf is out all day. I’ve watched 2 of the 3 riddick films, and mowed the lawn.
Extension_Ad4492@reddit
Take up rowing, you’ll never have a spare moment
bureaucrat_chaos@reddit
That’s right bro, stay optimistic
Extreme-Banana-9@reddit (OP)
We can only hope!
bambonie11@reddit
Watch five games of rugby on TV over three days.
Flapparachi@reddit
I’m a ‘calving widow’ (husband is a farmer) atm and I’ve been taking the time on my own in the evenings to de-clutter the house and organise gaming with friends online, start a new book and build some Lego.
ReportTop2156@reddit
I was single for many years and I use to fill my weekends with, jobs around the house, cleaning the car and bike and playing golf. I actually got pretty good at golf because of how much time I could play it for. It kept me busy.
8cuban@reddit
Also look ahead at least 2 weeks when scheduling time with people. That’s what I found in London. People were so busy trying to “do London” and keep in touch with people that they were booked out that far.
Proud_Durian6956@reddit
I have no friends
Caddap@reddit
Game, gym, walks
gamergrid@reddit
Enjoy it. Do your own things, have your own experiences. Gaming, walks, reading, cooking. Enjoy having no responsibility.
BraveLordWilloughby@reddit
Visit National Trust sites, go nice places with the dogs.
That's it.
