Im on rewatch i like Chakram does anyone miss the old Chakram though? But there is just too much Ares and too many cringe eps season 5especially after ides of march

The Twilight was handled horribly. We should have seen gods like Athena and Artemis much sooner in the series. I loved it when the Olympians showed up, so the writers giving them the axe felt unnecessary and added nothing to the show.

Yes definitely and season 1 was more like myth based they could of easily been in the earlier seasons

I'm not really rewatching stuff after season 4.

By knowing that S6 is around the corner.

Yup kind of makes up for it

Lucy and Renée kept me interested! And I was glad Kevin Smith appeared in a good chunk of episodes compared to S4.

Yer that’s what I also didn’t get hardly in season 4 but he was in loads of season 5

Lucy was pregnant and then having a baby during that season, so they needed the rest of the cast to shoulder part of her usual workload. And Kevin Smith was a darling :)

I thought the stuff w Ares was unnecessarily dragged out. He will always seek out Xena, and never respect her wishes. It's not cute.
He's a good villain, but idk. He could've been better written.

Imagine loki has come into their world, and far like loki, he is a trickster god and is having fun with them. You could try to make it greek, but the biggest trickster the greeks have is hermes and there's just a certain point it doesn't make sense (especially at the end). Trust, other gods can be used, and Loki is unknowingly perfect.
Honestly, pretty much anything you dislike you can always interpret as godly unwelcomed intervention, though this one would need to be an enemy to the greeks (or neutral to them) and not an ally.
I do similar logic when hercules shows up in episodes, unfortunately after the actor stopped filming hercules/xena, he was abducted by aliens and replaced by the Kevin Sorbo we have today. Yes, I know that didn't really happen, but thinking that helps.

5 is so hard to get through every time. But I love the show so much and I’m willing to sit thru the crap. I tend to zone out a bit from purity thru amphipolis under siege. Even then every episode has at least 1 redeeming quality. Then I feel like the back half of the season is totally fine.

I do particularly like the first half of season 5 and it contains some of my favourite episodes, its just the last few I have issues with.....
maeisbitter@reddit
I skipped about 60% of the season, lol.

Yeah, Xena drags Gabbi to death behind a horse in season 3 (followed by a GREAT musical!) and knocks her brains out with the chakram in season 5. I guess that's what you call "true love."
Ok_Kangaroo_2160@reddit
I get where you're coming from. Season 5 is a hard watch - Gabby gets sidelined a lot and her pain towards motherhood is completely ignored. And there's also the Gabchak which was supposed to happen differently. But there are a few comedic eps that make it bearable imo.
Hang in there! Season 6 may be the last, but the eps go above and beyond! The subtext becomes maintext. So, it'll be worth it!!

Yeah Seasons 4 and 5 are not my favorite seasons, there are only a handful of episodes from each of those seasons that I really liked, the rest I just tolerated. There were key moments in the episodes that I didn't care for that I enjoyed, but the episodes as a whole, definitely lacked in my opinion.

As a shipper, I just look at S5 as Xena and Gabby going through growing pains as new parents, it’s super common, even if most new parents aren’t being chased by the gods lol
I do my best to ignore Xena hitting Gabby in the head with the Chakram. It wasn’t supposed to happen like that, it was a change on the day of that no one was really into or stands by. It’s a goof.

Yeah, gone from Ides of March to S5 was a huge jolt. There are some good episodes and characters though, plough through. Then you get maintext S6 and it's worth it.
