They're not blanks because they wouldn't cycle the action without some sort of muzzle device to retain some pressure as AKs are gas operated. I doubt there is a roof they're probably sat on cushions outside.

My question is where do the bullets go like I get they probably won't kill someone but if its culturally a normal thing to do you are going to get bullets coming down somewhere at terminal velocity - eventually someone gets hit.

A penny doesn't have enough mass to kill someone at terminal velocity, that's an urban myth. The 7.62 round will retain lethal velocity because they are being fired at an angle and will arc rather than go straight up and fall straight down.

Im talking about him saying they are blank only guns ive never seen one without a pluged barrel to allow for back pressure. I will admit im not that informed on blank guns though. Im well aware a blank gas muzzle blast but ive never seen or heard of a blank that can cycle without something to cause back pressure.
