Where can I find cheese wheel pasta?
lacardenasDAL@reddit
Stella in Southlake Town Center…a lovely little Italian restaurant!!
raynickben@reddit
Lombardi’s at The Star in Frisco. $52
Ambitious_Arugula258@reddit
Eataly
extraordinaryevents@reddit
Some of the worst Italian I’ve ever had. Tasted like French boyardee
dmmee@reddit
Thank you for this PSA.
Overpriced awful food. I'm not sure which is worse - the food or the service.
I've given it 3 chances so it's not like they were having a bad day.
GreenWillingness4129@reddit
I agree. Highly overrated!
DragonChowhound@reddit
What's better in the area? DFW is loaded with garbage Italian-American. IMHO, Eataly does a very good job of the classic pasta dishes.
PteranLaches@reddit
Do not go here and order this. It is awful and ridiculously overpriced. 0 flavor.
Aggressive-Ad-5148@reddit
It’s at La Pizza La Pasta
kleinekitty@reddit
So good I loved it at northpark
DragonChowhound@reddit
General question, why do this (which just seems so unhygenic) versus finding a place that does a really good cacio e pepe.
Take a ride to Miss Pasta in Richardson. It will blow your mind.
Accomplished-Bug4327@reddit
Numero 28 in Allen does this
plastic_jungle@reddit
Also Goat and Fig
5uck3rpunch@reddit
Yes, but it's in Fairview. We had it there this past New Year's eve and it was great and not expensive.
Palatz@reddit
That side of stacy rd is still Allen
5uck3rpunch@reddit
Oh, you're correct. My bad. But it's still in that area & pretty small, but good food.
boibleu22@reddit
They do, but for us it didn’t live up to the hype. Also, their porchetta was dry. How is it possible to dry out a porchetta??
LiquidVibezz@reddit
Stellini Trattoria in Grapevine
abeefwittedfox@reddit
Don Camillo in Denton.
imperial_scum@reddit
They have one up here too? I just see the one in Hickory Creek
abeefwittedfox@reddit
Sorry it's Hickory Creek.
UbiquitousUbiquity@reddit
Dulce Riviera downtown in Harwood district. Heard it is absolutely worth it.
mwk1205@reddit
Used to work for Harwood. Worth it the first time. Just get the cacio e pepe after.
TotesMyGoats14@reddit
Can confirm it’s worth it at Dulce Riviera.
ChicagoRay312@reddit
Victory Park. That place looks delicious!
El-MonkeyKing@reddit
Lucia was doing it at some point, also Mercat
Previous_Recover9682@reddit
My arteries are saying, no. But looks delicious!
rhyde11@reddit
With mother's day coming up, the Marriott in Plano always has a brunch, and usually involves a cheese wheel pasta station!
Leader_Bud@reddit
I don’t think so man, that looks like $350.
JPhi1618@reddit
They reuse the cheese wheel. You just get a layer of it.
Leader_Bud@reddit
That sounds nasty, man.
cluelessinlove753@reddit
I really think you’re misunderstanding something
You realize the patron doesn’t eat from the cheese wheel right? The waiter mixes up the hot pasta on the cheese, melting, some of it, and then transfers it to your bowl.
Leader_Bud@reddit
That sounds a lot better yes.
GoshinTW@reddit
They spin it up in front of you, then put it in your own plate. So it's sanitary and delicious
Leader_Bud@reddit
But thank you for that information. I’ve been to Mexican places that reuse their salsa bowls too. Hahaha
Mwootto@reddit
This is gonna shock you but most restaurants reuse all of their bowls.
Leader_Bud@reddit
No I mean…they take the eaten from salsa and dump it back into the bucket in the back.
OmenQtx@reddit
Don’t look, but they reuse the forks too!
Accomplished_One3985@reddit
You think that's bad? I hear they reuse the glasses!
captainn_chunk@reddit
The wrong son died
HappyCooper@reddit
I believe Carbone Dallas offers it.
Sad_Background_8762@reddit
I forget the exact dish but, Saint Rocco's New York Italian over in trinity groves has a cheese wheel pasta dish. Absolutely delicious
ChicagoRay312@reddit
Loved that place but they recently closed. Curse of Trinity Groves.
Carraj123@reddit
Curse of profit sharing leases. 😢
Leader_Bud@reddit
The Romano family that started TG actually owned that one!
beardlesswonder@reddit
They're gone
freetraveler11@reddit
Numero 28! Highly recommend their pasta AND Caesar salad. I think of their Caesar salad often.
dallasuptowner@reddit
I'm going to start a restaurant that does this, throws salt at you, tosses a caesar salad and lights a Bananas Foster at your table and make a fucking fortune.
cluelessinlove753@reddit
Pizza e Pasta at Eataly. That’s the restaurant on the main grocery floor.
kahrahtay@reddit
If you're on the (far) north side, Lombardi Cucina Italiana in Frisco does this
beamanblitz@reddit
Dolce Riviera
azseminole2@reddit
SMU football tailgate parties. Not kidding.
OopsIHadAnAccident@reddit
Rich people... sigh 🙄
pana_colada@reddit
There is a place in Grapevine called Stellini that use to do this. I think they still do but I would call and see! The restaurant is good in general. Great staff. I worked there for a while. Good food and good vibes.
SnooDrawings6926@reddit
Stellini Trattoria in Grapevine, not Dallas but the closest place I know.
Significant-Food1368@reddit
tried few places around deep ellum but most italian spots dont do the wheel thing. there's this place in uptown area that does it sometimes but you gotta call first because they only bring out wheel in certain days. also saw it at some food festivals but those are hit or miss depending in season
Spare_Ad_9657@reddit
When I lived in Germany, I used to get this all the time at the Italian restaurants there. But I have not seen it in Dallas anywhere. So I would like to know as well.
