NewsRadio was so good.

I've worked in journalism for the better part of my career and though I grew up listening to public radio and AM talk radio with my grandparents and parents, it's still slightly bittersweet to think that one of the reasons I went into radio myself was because of Phil Hartman and Dave Foley.

There was something about the ragtag band of misfits workplace comedy that was news radio that I greatly appreciated. My parents' generation grew up with WKRP and Taxi, and I only got the tail end of that in reruns, so NewsRadio truly was an excellent foray into the workplace comedy with a stellar cast who all largely got to play some version of themselves.

The writing was so clever, with so many memorable one-liners and a solid use of every character. It was incredibly heartbreaking when Phil Hartman died, and they honestly tried the best they could to carry on for a while with Jon Lovitz, but nothing could recreate the magic that was Phil Hartman.
