I’ll take it. Why was March so much lower ? What’s your schedule ?
Southside33351@reddit (OP)
Didn’t have pto yet. I put my schedule under another comment
Mean_Breadfruit_2291@reddit
i make a little over that working 7 hours a day 5 days a week and im home everyday. Linehaul is awesome
csszen@reddit
How much experience? And what state?
Southside33351@reddit (OP)
I’ve driven fire trucks (heaviest 72k lbs 4k gal tanker) and air brake hook lifts under 26000lbs before. Zero OTR just got lucky one of the instructors from my school knew the people from my current company

Nice! i am doing 1300 - 1800 net (on 2k - 3k miles) with swift. Home daily but 6 days a week. I got lucky as well but id love to learn about the guy who commented and what he does because that sounds better than my position.

Only working 7 hours a day will always sound better lol. You’re home daily. I would say you’re good

That’s really good man, congrats.

Thank you. It took me awhile to get my cdl. Prior job didn’t actually train so had to pay out of pocket. Probably could’ve waited and hold to get county workforce grant but I was exhausted from waiting almost 2 years and multiple permits and test receipts etc
premeteamm@reddit
Did you do community college or private school?
SanDuskyMclusky@reddit
I struggle make 1k a week doing regional otr for a year and a half. I'm taking getting my endorsements seriously after not even a cent raise after a completely safe, all loads on time year at my current company.
JankyMark@reddit
That’s definitely good
Outside-Pattern1011@reddit
How much experience OTR do you have ? I don’t have any experience yet but i see local making more or the same as OTR
Southside33351@reddit (OP)
Zero. Got cdl in February 2026

Dude seeing stuff like this gives me hope.
I’ll have my CDL in 2 weeks. I’m gonna have to wait a bit until the speeding charge I have on my MVR becomes less prevalent, but it’s good to see that decent money can be made. I’ve been unemployed for 5 months now and left a career as a retail manager to do trucking
Southside33351@reddit (OP)
Study and repeat that pretrip and inspections a lot
Cann1balHulk@reddit
I got pre-trip pretty much down already, just getting stuck on the parallel park, but I’m getting there lol. Thankfully my instructor is awesome
derpmcturd@reddit
Pretty good, i was making that as dryvan/reefer working 80+/week (including onduty)
DazednConfuzed62@reddit
I'm out for 4 weeks at a time, $800 is about the norm. Live in too small a town for local. Trucking isn't what it used to be
Pedialyte1221@reddit
Is this take home?
Southside33351@reddit (OP)
Yes
