I like BotW. đ˘
underwear_dickholes@reddit
It's trash and not a zelda game. It's a skin.
Reading_username@reddit
What does anon actually want?
no_4@reddit
He wants Nintendo to make a traditional console and be successful with it.
ie something they haven't done since SNES.
SightlessIrish@reddit
Yeah it's not a hard concept to understand. Green OP wants an actual console that focuses on being a high performance, high fidelity device.
We've gotten mobile platform gimmick bullshit for over a decade. I feel it
Lolmemsa@reddit
I mean the switch 2 has the power of a PS4 which is honestly all you really need
RaoulLaila@reddit
Not even. The switch 2 is stronger than tbe PS4 pro and the specialized GPU makes it perform better than the xbox series S. the series S is stronger pure specs wise but the optimization makes tbe switch 2 better. And honestly I legitimately do not understand the obsession behind console power.
SightlessIrish@reddit
One day you'll build a pc and begin to understand.
SolidOutcome@reddit
Thats what a PC is for, high fidelity is only found on PC imo. Consoles have high fidelity for 6 months after release, then never again. Which is why running mobile level platforms works for them.
Bloodhoven_aka_Loner@reddit
they don't. thaz's what consoleros are trying to convince you of. even on release day new consoles barely can keep up with a budget pc. only in rhe last few years did that change due to exploding prices for particular PC components due to the mining hype, then another mining hype on top of COVID, then NFTs and lastly the RAM shortage.
RaoulLaila@reddit
I have a PC with an RTX 5070ti, and I upgraded from a 3060, and before this I had a portable GTX 1060. I am an avid PC user, I almost always use my PC. And if you ask why, I do use the GPU for a reason that actually requires me to have it, outside of gaming. My point still stands. And whenever I have the option to play a game on the Switch 2, I prefer the Switch 2. The only game I ever prefered to play on PC instead was Cyberpunk and even then I prefer to lie down on my bed sometimes and launch my cross save savefile on the switch instead. My entire reason for enjoying gaming is different from "I need my best graphics and performance"
SightlessIrish@reddit
Sounds like you wasted money on your pc, and you're entirely the type of gamer Nintendo loves so that it's shit devices keep moving
RaoulLaila@reddit
Nope. I need my PC. again, reasons outside of gaming. But I suppose a spoiled person that only cares about graphics and power will never understand the convenient fun of being able to play anywhere with first party games that actually prioritize fun gameplay.
SightlessIrish@reddit
Do they pay you for the fellatio or is this pro bono lol
Lolmemsa@reddit
I have a pc and itâs obviously better than a switch, but for an âunderpoweredâ console the switch 2 has all you really need to be able to run games well. Most modern games suffer from bloat because the graphics have to be super high fidelity but in terms of actual mechanics the switch can run anything well if itâs optimized
cheater00@reddit
they're literally taking worthless sand and turning it into something they charge $100 for (which is the rough cost of chip alone as proportion of console), and you're like "well that's value enough, what else do you want?" ?
you're being sold sand for $100 and you're fine with it not being the latest thing?
what?
GobiPLX@reddit
playstation but with mario and zelda
Reading_username@reddit
Jak and Daxter
Dark Cloud
richtofin819@reddit
Hearing Jak and daxter as the PlayStation Mario is crazy.
Spyro or crash would be closer. And either way we have it at a new game for any of those series and probably going on a decade now unless you count remasters which I don't.
Bullet_Z@reddit
ND's goal with Jak was literally making Mario 64 with no loads, they were saying this since before the game released
richtofin819@reddit
Well they can say what they want Jak and daxter was not Mario and it had an entirely different feel from Mario.
Bullet_Z@reddit
>it had an entirely different feel from Mario.
Oh yea that's or sure. But still Mario is way closer to Jak 1 than it is to Crash or Spyro as you were saying
richtofin819@reddit
I don't see it but I'll agree to disagree.
baz4k6z@reddit
Anon wants to feel the way he felt as a child playing his old Nintendo but can't. Instead of looking inwards to process his feelings, he'd rather blame outside factors like the evolution of the console for how he feels.
AlabamaPanda777@reddit
His childhood back
NsaLeader@reddit
IDK about anon, but I quite like that I can play Odyssey, Mario Kart, Zelda, and Pokemon while on a flight or riding in the car. Then when I get home, I can put it in the dock and play in my living room on the TV. It's awesome.
Reading_username@reddit
No! Stop having fun! You should only be able to play your nintendos at home!
18bluecat@reddit
You're gonna flip when I tell you about the Gameboy.
Bloodhoven_aka_Loner@reddit
or the NDS/N3DS
Bloodhoven_aka_Loner@reddit
I doubt rhey were complaining about the consoles "flexibility" but rather about the consequences, which result in a console that is barely more powerful than its predecessors and still can't hold its charge for more than ~6-7 hours. And even that only if you play one of the less demanding games.
SightlessIrish@reddit
If it can be a mobile device and comparable to a ps5, by all means play that anywhere.
A slightly enhanced mobile gamecube doesn't do much for a lot of people, yet it seems to have hit the casual market so hard that they refuse to make an actual console that focuses on being a good console.
tylerthetiler@reddit
Do you mean AC:odyssey?
Bloodhoven_aka_Loner@reddit
anon should stop posting on 4crackhead. Their take on the gaming market and consumer behaviour is fsr too based
bdrwr@reddit
"see that square of ocean? You can boat to it. '
schleem42069@reddit
People talk about how either skyward sword or botw was the end of good Zelda but actually it was wind waker. They havenât made a good game since majora
bitchnibba47@reddit
Imagine being a WW hater in 2026
Reading_username@reddit
We joke about the ocean travel time in WW but I legit loved as a kid being able to set the wind direction, a sail, and have the boat sail way across the entire map while I went and made a sandwich. Yeah the fast travel was cool, but 100%'ing the map was really fun exploration.
Don't have the attention span for it anymore but in 2004 it was incredible.
ChoiceFudge3662@reddit
The fucking turn around on Botw and Totk needs to be studied, suddenly everyone decides theyâre the worst games ever with zero redeeming qualities, and that Nintendo should go back to the old Zelda formula, which I just canât understand.
I donât see why people want zelda to go back to the linear roller coaster ride type experience, it must just be pure nostalgic and autistic people refusing to accept anything unfamiliar into their lives, because every playthrough of old Zeldaâs is almost always the exact same with little to no variation, only someone who craves familiarity would want Nintendo to make more of them.
There is so much freedom and creativity in the way you can approach nearly every puzzle in totk, and yet people criticize it for this, âyou can just brute force every puzzle with ultra-hand and rewindâ the game gets criticized for the way certain PLAYERS engage with it, and thatâs honestly just unfair, âUgh this game is so easy when it put it on easy modeâ like geez I fucking wonder why dude?! Itâs not a perfect game by any means but I genuinely think people just jump on the hate train for these two games in particular because itâs just popular to dislike Nintendo and everything they do.
SuperSocialMan@reddit
Nah, a ton of us noticed from the start but got drowned out by the ocean of fanboys screeching about how it's the greatest fucking thing since indoor plumbing.
SoupaMayo@reddit
Those who like it are fanboys and those who don't are so smart, got it tendie
ChoiceFudge3662@reddit
So itâs just the minority of people who donât like the games, still complaining on the internet years after its release? Lmao.
Jumper2002@reddit
All Nintendo has is exclusives and gimmicks. Theyre worse at everything they share with their competitors. The switch wouldnt have sold half as well if it was a standard console with worse hardware than the ps4 or xbox
SoupaMayo@reddit
the switch wouldn't have sold half as well if it wasn't [insert something that define the switch], yeah of fucking course. Bruh.
shave_and_a_haircut@reddit
I agree with his Zelda take
Snoo_58305@reddit
BoTW is one of the best games ever made. Itâs as big a deal as Resident Evil 4
SoupaMayo@reddit
No you can't like BoTW here, it's a grown ass subreddit, get out of here with your facts
Vryk0lakas@reddit
Zelda flavored Skyrim. No thank you.
cheater00@reddit
i don't know how OP can look at anything after the snes and not call it a "weak gimmick console". n64 had weak ass hardware compared to most stuff on the market and didn't even have a disc drive (everyone knows that's how the psx was spawned btw thanks nintendo for fucking yourself over). have you seen the controller? now THAT was some weak gimmick shit. "but it was one of the first, bla bla bla, they didn't know better" they literally structured it like a gun with two prongs on each side, and an analog stick under the thumb. this must have been the stupidest idea ever. the original idea was to put a duck hunt gun into every controller, lmfao. SNES and GBA were the last non-gimmick consoles. DS - gimmick. 3DS - even more gimmick. 2DS - them just trying to walk back the gimmick (not really possible since most games use your "two screens" gimmick).
wtf was OP talking about?
toiletman74@reddit
Weak ass hardware compared to what? The ps1 and sega saturn?
LionMonroe@reddit
Havenât they released comfy Zeldaâs since Botw tho? They remade links awakening and made that game where you play as Zelda
toshineon2@reddit
Yeah, me too. Zelda already had its own formula of linear progression but with open environments for exploration, and they threw that out the window to chase trends instead.
schleem42069@reddit
They fucked up the formula by making skyward sword way too linear and boring with nothing to explore so they way overcorrected the last two games.
Haggis442312@reddit
100%.
BotW and TotK are shitty Skyrim Knockoffs with a Zelda skin, and I'm tired of pretending they're not.
MyDogIsDaBest@reddit
Except that BOTW and TOTK are fun whereas Skyrim is a mediocre slog and forgets to be fun
SuperSocialMan@reddit
They're fun for 10 minutes instead of 5, so I guess you're technically correct lol
GulliblePea3691@reddit
Idk man, I played BotW for like 150 hours and loved every second of it. TotK was so bad I dropped it after 5 hours
schleem42069@reddit
I finished totk out of spite but unless they come up with something crazy for the next one I think Iâm done with Zelda lmao. The last truly great Zelda game was majora and that was 26 fucking years ago. Itâs so over.
Orthobrah52102@reddit
BrunesOvrBrauns@reddit
I just don't see how they compare that much. There's definitely overlap... But their gameplay loops are completely different. The story focus and overall depth (show vs tell), the platforming, the building mechanics.Â
That's just off the top of my head three differences that are massive parts of the game that are basically night and day different from each other.Â
SuperSocialMan@reddit
real as fuck.
Ditnoka@reddit
Never bought TotK because I have like 90 minutes in BotW. I still go back almost yearly and replay OoT.
Lilpup618@reddit
Try out Ship of Harkinian
GulliblePea3691@reddit
Except Nintendo is still releasing classic style Zelda games. Echoes of Wisdom is literally the last Zelda game they released
SuperSocialMan@reddit
real as fuck, it's 100% valid.
Honestly, I kinda agree with the entire post's sentiment about nintendo not doing a proper console again - but I also kinda don't give a fuck since I gave up on them years ago lol.
Stiqkey@reddit
He really does tho. They need to go back to pre Switch Zelda games desperately. (BOTW is fun an all, but it is NOT a Zelda game)
TOASTisawesome@reddit
The wording could use some work though
richtofin819@reddit
It's 4chan honestly we should be happy it's not 50% slur
FreeCapone@reddit
*laughs in PC
Imagine buying console slop
IanDerp26@reddit
wait. genuinely what is wrong with the switch besides "being a tablet(???)" i don't know what op's argument is. all he did was say a slur and imply it's bad because it's popular? or something? the switch is functionally just a (kind of underpowered) home console as long as you never take the tablet out of the dock. i seriously don't see what the issue is.
Jumper2002@reddit
You get worse hardware while most people will play it docked for 80% of the time. You trade hardware strength for a feature that a lot of people wont use
IanDerp26@reddit
so? do you guys really think nintendo was gonna use all that "lost" hardware power? did they need the extra 5 gigaflops of RAM to make Link's pubic hair simulation 100% accurate? everybody knows you only buy Nintendo consoles to play Nintendo games, and Nintendo games are never really gonna need all that power anyways. I think it's whatever.
fallout8998@reddit
i agree with only the zelda take to a degree in that while i dont like that more zelda will be like botw i also dont want them to be like wind waker, what i want is more games like the true peak of the series - minish cap and a link to the past i want more top down pixel graphic zelda games but i know they will never do so and any top downs we get will be 3d
JuuMuu@reddit
the nintendo switch is honestly like their most normal console since the gamecube i think
United_Average_8767@reddit
Nintendo has been punished and handsomely rewarded for daring to do something different, at least as far as consoles are concerned. Unfortunately the new Zelda games have lost what made them special by trying to be like everything else.
ronshasta@reddit
First word is âTendieâ. Yeah Anon knows what each color of crayon tastes like
Notbbupdate@reddit
Gimmicks are the only things Nintendo consoles have going for them in terms of hardware. Why would I ever buy an N64 or GameCube over a PS1 or PS2 (aside from exclusives)? As hardware, they offer nothing that the competition doesn't do better
Now the Wii and Switch? Those offer things their competitors don't. There exists a legitimate hardware reason to buy these consoles
SuperSocialMan@reddit
Pretty much, yeah. Their third-party support has always ranged from lacking to "this is already on PlayStation, so why bother buying a nintendo console?)."
The switch has good third-party support with the portability, and although I'd never use it (steam deck ftw - really hope I can get one soon) it does at least give you a unique gimmick that other consoles kind of don't have.
Trespeon@reddit
Based Zelda take that is entirely true. Switch and switch 2 was their answer to bringing out a new console and phasing out the 3DS. IMO itâs not a great handheld device for anything thatâs not turn based.
denny31415926@reddit
Wait, what's wrong with the switch? It can be played at home, with a pretty similar experience to any other console.
sorryiamnotoriginal@reddit
Nintendo saw the console wars as a losing battle with the failures of Wii and Wiiu and decided to do their own thing which was a massive success in comparison. Hence why they have no interest in the home console market now. Handheld just kinda became their novelty along with their IPs while the consoles eat each other.
HiTekLoLyfe@reddit
I donât play Nintendo games because Iâm not autistic and 6 years old and it takes more than bright colors to impress me, but the mechanical sandbox features Iâve seen in the past two Zelda games are pretty fucking impressive. I guess they want the same story and gameplay sold to them over and over though.
Sumdoazen@reddit
*ahem* Zelda was always mid.
Letters_to_Dionysus@reddit
based af. I dont see a single opinion that I disagree with.
DarkScorpion48@reddit
Itâs pretty much how every Nintendo fan feels that grew up with the Snes
WintersbaneGDX@reddit
Agreed that Zelda should stay with the tighter, action focus.
PS - if you liked BotW/TotK, fair enough. Check out Crimson Desert, it's that same idea of go anywhere, do anything, climb anything, except with a more realistic fantasy and drunk Scottish voice actors who call everyone "cunts"
planetrebellion@reddit
Gamecube was so fucking good! Man, thanks for the reminder of what i miss.

richtofin819@reddit
I agreed with this take until they got to the Zelda take breath of the wild got me back into video games when I was really burned out on all the bullshit and microtransactions. Unfortunately it's effect hasn't exactly benefited the rest of Nintendo. Negatively affected Metroid prime 4 although I doubt that game ever had a real identity to begin with considering how many times they had to restart it. And even the sequel to breath of the wild just really fell flat in comparison to the original to me. It was just breath of the wild with besiege tacked on and some higher effort cutscenes but in a story that just didn't work for me.
KrustyBarnacle@reddit
Itâs a company/console for babies what was expected?
hairyballsinmybutt@reddit
Breath of the Wild really fucked Nintendo up, didn't it?
