I ordered 10, arrived today, all m2a2 which was a nice surprise, small amount of surface ruston 9/10, especially at contact point

Harbor freight has a sale (show coupon with barcode from website) thru Sunday. Their new .50 cal ammo cans are $10.99, but you gotta buy in store
Supetition4rad@reddit (OP)

Aforementioned coupon

Is this dead? Not loading
Outrageous-Panic-165@reddit
Many thanks from Colorado. I just grabbed 3 using this coupon.
InYourWalls333@reddit
They’re just okay, gasket on them is nice but they kinda swell at the sides when completely full of loose ammo
evasive-manuever@reddit
Harbor freight’s 50 caliber cans seemed pretty good when I saw them this week. They are made in Chin but they had new gaskets on them and a small desiccant pack inside.
I picked up three.
TornFern@reddit
They sell ones made in Vietnam side by side with the Chinese made ones. Just look at the sticker. I always get them over the Chinese made ones.
I_Support_Ukraine_@reddit
MTM had a .50 cal ammo tray that holds 3 cans... Highly recommend
Thowzand@reddit
These are the best. Thick, sturdy, great seal. I own 5 of these 3 can trays. I own a couple of the 4 can trays and they're just as good.
RegardedDipshit@reddit
Same. I like them, a decent metal can is still better.
If anyone is looking for MTM .30s costco.com is always the cheapest place to get them
Trope360@reddit
I have a few of both and honestly I'm not stoked on the MTM trays anymore. At first I liked them, but I had one crack and break when full. Also their plastic cans don't hold up and seal like the metal - namely I'm worried about water damage and the MTM's don't seem to be water tight. Also, the metal seem to store better if it's boxed ammo, and stack better if you're organizing / stacking it deep.
If you're storing them, metal. One to transport to the range? The MTM 30's are nice for that, sure. The tray was cool when I was in an apt and that was all the ammo I owned, but I'm never carrying the tray to the range.
SwampKeys@reddit
Yep, just check the seals and make sure they're flat on the ground. My store had 2, seals were okay but they rocked on the ground so I didnt get them
you_killed_my_@reddit
It can be used online too but there is a shipping fee
Fougero@reddit
Only valid for ITC members as then the 30% off will apply to $20 items and under. Otherwise it only works for items under $10. You got me excited for a moment!
Diehugelivefast@reddit
It’s 10.99 with the specific coupon for the can. Not the 30% thing.
Fougero@reddit
Ah, I didn't see a coupon. Anyone have a link?
big_pp_man420@reddit
Its a coupon.
tyraywilson@reddit
Buy cheap, stock deep. It gets the blood rushing!
mcgonebc@reddit
Just got this!

This post has BDE (Best Description Ever) 😂
BallsOutKrunked@reddit
If you're picky and want M2A2 it seems like the universe of new ones vanished, there's a dude on ebay selling them for \~$20 free ship on ebay.
Yellowmamba451@reddit
Appreciate you! Found that same seller. Grade 1 too so in good shape
BallsOutKrunked@reddit
Yeah I'm thinking of grabbing a four pack. $79.60 + tax, I can live with that. Not exactly a screaming deal but the best I can find these days.
I stack my cans up so I'm big into the m2a2 with the lip to hold the weight and not have it all on the gasket. Just makes me feel better knowing I have ammo in airtight steel, with a desiccant.
Yellowmamba451@reddit
Forsure yeah space is limited for me so I plan on stacking as well. I’m very new to all this, but just for reference what would be a good sale in case I need to get more in the future?
BallsOutKrunked@reddit
$20 new high quality done well m2a2 in your hands (including tax/shipping) you should basically mortgage your house and buy as many as you can. so $20+tax for pretty good condition isn't too far behind, it just depends on how many dollars you want to save.
If you *really* want to store ammo long term in bonkers level conditions:
That's pretty overkill but if you're stacking deep ammo you can do that and it's fine for decades. When the stuff gets cheap (ie: not now), get good shit for good prices, lock it up, shoot for years.
Lastly if you're new and still listening, avoid cheapo shit ammo no matter how cheap it is. I had turkish trn ammo blow up a gun of mine and almost blow off a finger. saving 2 pennies a round is going to take a long time to pay off a blown off finger.
Yellowmamba451@reddit
You’re the best thank you! All really helpful info. And that’s hella scary about your finger, I’m glad you’re okay. I got Blazer as my range ammo right now, but thinking of maybe switching over to lawman or federal Eagle. Blazer all-in I got for 23 cpr from academy recently, looks like i can get lawman for 25-26 cpr. Also planning on getting a suppressor and I heard blazer is not good for it
BallsOutKrunked@reddit
Blazer is fine, it's really the turkish / off brand stuff you need to worry about. It can take a while to figure out weird-named ammo that's great (ggg) and weird-named ammo that's terrible (trn).
23 cpr for 9mm is solid, good on you.
But no, norma didn't pay shit for my gun damage, apologize, or anything. The whole situation was really fucked up. Ultimately I was out a grand between ruined gun and ammo I dropped off at the PD for them to dispose of. Like $300 in ammo, $700 pistol.
But good luck man, guns are fun. Be safe, and whatever you're into don't give a shit about people who see different.
But also get a cz 457 with a dead air mask on it, thank me later!
clicktoseemyfetishes@reddit
Was this the bad batch of Norma a few years ago? Surprised they didn’t take care of you afterwards
Yellowmamba451@reddit
I’ll definitely check out that CZ you’re mentioning! Just have the Springfield Echelon for now, but definitely plan on adding a PDW, a 556 rifle, and then a hunting rifle in the future
BallsOutKrunked@reddit
This thing in 22lr: https://www.czfirearms.com/en-us/products/rimfire-rifles/cz-457-series/cz-457-pro-varmint-sr
With a good (dead air mask, but there are others) suppressor will shoot pretty quiet with subsonic info. Cheap to shoot, accurate, fun. I've got a lot of firearms but 9/10 I'm pulling the cz 457 out and plinking steel out to 150 yards. Others can do more, but I'm happy with it!
Mahlegos@reddit
Blazer is generally fine. But it does have known issues with setback which can lead to a similar situation you experienced. I had it cause the same malfunction three times across three lots (in a gun that hasn’t had a malfunction before or since) before I figured out what was happening and stopped using it personally. A round would get mangled between the slide and the feed ramp to the point I would have to mortar it out. Eventually figured out it was due to over pressure causing the slide to cycle faster than the mag could, luckily the gun took the extra pressure and didn’t explode. Turns out the setback issue is a known issue going back over a decade. They don’t taper crimp or knurl the bullet (and according the reloaders the brass is thinner at the neck that others) which makes it much easier to setback than others to the point folks will pull them out of the box and have setback rounds.
BallsOutKrunked@reddit
That's fair, I guess I just mean to say that inherently I'm putting anything with cci on the label above Turko Inc LTD Enterprises.
Mahlegos@reddit
Given your experience that’s more than fair. Luckily I didn’t have to find out how CCI would have responded to a similar situation.
BallsOutKrunked@reddit
Oh and yeah blazer with a can isn't great but the love of suppressed guns is a little mistaken, to me. I have several suppressors and while I dig them they make your semi auto guns filthy, you get more shit blown in your face, and like you noticed ammo gets particular.
22lr is great suppressed, 556 is (to me) less useful, and 9mm / 147 isn't "quiet" but maybe no permanent hearing damage if you have to shoot your firearm in defense, no ear pro, in your hallway. Still loud though!
Anyway good luck!
brianstheman@reddit
Oh great....just researched the M2a2 cans, didn't know there was a difference....this knowledge will slowly eat away at me until I replace all my M2a1 cans with them ;)
BallsOutKrunked@reddit
Just start putting the a2s on the bottom of the stacks, the a1s can just live on top, all good :)
But yeah welcome to m2a2 elitist crew
Maltoron@reddit
I buy my m2a2 cans from cleanammocans.com 6 pack for $94. Grade 1 as well, not any problems with them other than they stink to high heavens on the inside.

tyraywilson@reddit
I buy MTM AC-11 cans. Notnsure what they go for now but I promise you, they're better than the metal ones.
Grouchy_Hubert_da3rd@reddit
They don't have seals.
USAFWorkAccount@reddit
They do though
Trope360@reddit
They do but I have both and the metals are a lot tighter if you're worried about water at all. And stack nicer. I liked the MTM's but once I started getting more metal to organize, they're king.
Grouchy_Hubert_da3rd@reddit
Ah
Supetition4rad@reddit (OP)
I like tight seals

Field Supply is a sister company of Cigar Page. Never bought from the former, but have spent a lot of money with the latter with good results.
Bubbly-Celery-4096@reddit
Actually makes me want to buy this more lol.
xKHAZx@reddit
I actually have bought ammo cans from this place before (cheapest shipped online in bulk I could find at the time) and they sent me really good quality cans with no rust and good seals. Sportsmans Guide has really fucked me before on used ammo cans.
UnderwhelmingComment@reddit
One of my harbor freight cans broke pressing down on the top to close it plus the tops easily come out of the hinge. Guessing these are better.
bikeguy410@reddit
Sportsman's guide fucks everyone on just about everything.
Never again.

$68.80 for 5 pack 50 cal cans shipped to FL, not too shabby. Thanks OP.
