Anyone able to compare this vs Vortex Venom? I’ve been impressed with the Venom for the price (better than old Strike Eagle, curb stomps Sig Tango MSR). Looking for an optic for an 11.5” and the FDE would go nice.

It is generally agreed that while the Venom 1-6 just edges out the SLx IV (“it”) in terms of optical performance (e.g., image stability), the version of it with better glass—the Special Purchase 1-6 ACSS Nova—performs a bit better optically than the aforementioned Venom

Just got the special purchase in the sale a couple weeks ago. The this lever is not as tight (in a good way) and the eyebox seems to be more forgiving.
They say the glass is better but from 5 min in my garage they are both fine. I’d need to take it outside somewhere to really compare.
No lens caps with the special purchase.
Also the battery was DOA but the dot was plenty bright even for daylight with a new one

I was mistaken, it was $230 plus theft.
When you stacked those codes you got a tremendous value. I think the combo you got had the Sport mount, if so, you did very well.
The Venom has a better reticle for distance IMHO,, but that bright red crisp dot is nice on the Novas.

All the side by side reviews I’ve watched on YouTube show the Primary Arms Nova LPVO is a bit crisper at max magnification, for instance trees and brush are more defined, but the eye box is tight and less forgiving than the Vortex Venom. The fiberwire reticle on the Nova is red dot bright but functions by the crosshair lines fully expanding across the lens. This seems to obscure field of view when focusing on a target which is probably a nonissue but all things considered, I went with the Venom for the better eye box and field of view.

You'll notice the 5.56/308 BDC reticle has vertical subtensions below the center in intervals that get progressively longer, this is in an attempt to approximate the bullet drop (BDC = Bullet Drop Compensator) at certain distances, so you would aim at those subtensions at those distances (coincidentally the 5.56 and .308 rounds have a similar bullet drop curve to a certain distance). The mil reticle has equally distanced subtensions, showing milliradians, or mils, which is a unit for angular measurement used in more precise shooting. Precision shooters will argue mil is the 'correct' way to do it and the BDC is too inaccurate because of load and velocity differences; some people argue BDC is faster and good enough. It's worth doing some research to find which one you want to try.

Well I’m not going to argue that because I haven’t used an SLX but the Tango seems fine and is robustly made. I think there are obvious pros and cons to both.
Plenty of extensive reviews on YouTube that put the tango ahead of the SLX in certain categories.
It’s also not actually cheaper given the Tango comes with a nice mount.
I also think people get way too interested in a product that may be marginally better. Tango looks better and is marginally worse and maybe even better depending on what you’re looking for.
Obviously using airsoft quality optics has its limitations but my point is, my optic is as good as my training. You will never convince me a 3k LVPO is ever worth the money for a civilian.

I believe the SP 1-6 Nova was on sale for $250 last week. I own both the SLX and the SP Nova and there is a noticeable difference. The SLX nova is more of a CQB LPVO if that’s a thing. It has a huge FOV and thin bezel and the brightness is red dot bright. The SP Nova is more long range oriented, the glass is definitely better but the FOV kinda sucks and the bezel is huge when looking through it. The max brightness on the SP is like a setting 6 or half the brightness of the SLX nova. I run the SP on my 14.5 and the SLX on my 11.5.

The special *purchase scopes have fiber optics that are brighter OR dimmer than specifications, maybe other quirks, I forget now. It’s a grab bag to some extent.

Special porpoise is $340 right now but at the same price it's a function vs vibes. The slx only functional benefit is the brighter dot. That being said, you dont get the razor at home feel from the SP.
