Outlook does not recognize one or more names

I support an ERP software solution and in the past day we have had two customers report email send failures with this entry 'Outlook does not recognize one or more names' on Outlook version: 16.0.0.19929 - 64bit - oddly the email addresses when checked look totally fine, no extra null characters before or after string, just nice simple email address. Anybody else see this? Happy Friday!

I've seen this error when an autocomplete cache has corrupt entries. Have them try deleting the autocomplete entry for the address they are sending to and try again.

Thanks! I actually found the culprit about 2 mins ago - freaking bit version mismatch been our ERP executable and Outlook. Once I had our ERP switched to 64-bit it could hand off properly to Outlook. Gotta love that lol

We've suddenly encountered this exact same problem with 3 customers in the past week, but it doesn't appear to be related to the bit version between the applications. Can you tell me what you did to make the bit versions the same? Did you uninstall and reinstall Outlook as a different but version?

has it as well. solved by installing an older version with offline iso & disabling updates for now

I have some users that it works and a few that i'm getting error message but everyone has same vesion of outlook 16.0.0.19929.
Any other suggestion other than reverting to older version of office? If it works for some with version 16.0.0.19929 i'm guessing that there's a solution

I don't have any other suggestions as of now unfortunately. We did see that the issue didn't occur with all email addresses, but so far the issue has appeared on all instances of 19929 we've tested on. Granted, besides our internal environment, we only get to test the issue when someone reports it. Interesting that you've seen some instances of that version not have the issue. Hoping that someone else has more insight or that Microsoft acknowledges this issue. Reverting back to 16.0.19822.20142 seems to resolve the issue for now.

We encountered the same issue, with the same behavior described in the thread, involving a client’s ERP. Fortunately, adding the Outlook signature to the email resolved the problem.

Bonjour. Je rencontre aussi le probleme que j'ai décrit ici

seule solution pour l'instant en restant sur la version 2604 : créer un profil Outlook avec qu'un seul compte et utiliser ce profil lors des emailings .

Thanks, that's good information. We were able to replicate that fix on our end as well. If we create a new profile that only has one email account setup, that resolves the issue. Hopefully Microsoft addresses this in an update soon

Thanks, I was also able to resolve this for now by reverting to an older version of Office

Interesting, glad you figured it out!
