How do the Turkish members in here feel about the Turkish Grand Prix returning next year?

More tourist, more business, more money. Ultimately, the question is whether we paid FIA more than we will make by tourists. Cities like Istanbul are capable of handling huge numbers of tourists. But it is underutilized outside of peak tourism seasons. Might be a good boost in off-season.

The FIA fee + All the bribes 》Total revenue

Classic almancı. I paid around 70€ to watch 2021 Turkish GP in silver category and 90€ to watch 2023 Monza GP (italy) in standing category.
ElLoboTurco@reddit
i doubt the prices will be that low...but i will check for sure!
RealProjectivePlane@reddit
you are almancı, you earn €, you are rich, you drive bmw with döner salary /s

i love the sport so much that i was a marshall in the pit lane in 2011 turkish gp.
i can't feel happy for the news though because firstly this is a distraction from the horrendous state of our country today. it's 100% a pr stunt to show the world that everything's normal here in fact it is very not.
second, we hosted 2020 and 2021 races due to pandemic shenanigans and something completely unacceptable happened in both races. podium ceremony is done without champagne just like the gulf countries. those countries have alcohol bans so it makes sense but we don't have such regulations. the government enforced the censorship as if we are also run by sharia law. i'm deeply concerned that they will extend the censorship so i can't feel any excitement over this sorry.

As a Turk I feel like Turkey should pay reparations to Balkan countries for what the ottoman empire did. Just sayin

As a Turk
Flashy_Race_7812@reddit
Bi sg, Albania was under foreign rule or domination for the vast majority of its history. Roman, Byzantine, Bulgarian, Venetian, Serbian, and Ottoman domination, followed by Italian and German occupations in the 20th century
Turks/Ottomans just took over from others, so did others take it over from us.
If it weren’t for us they would have no national hero their existence is made because of us, their only known hero is the one that resisted us.
Make others pay first and we would gladly accept.

Life long fan here, been there in 2021. So hyped.

Thank you Fatih Altaylı.
raceregos@reddit
Exactly. I remember like it was yesterday, some people here on Reddit were calling him a "media clown" just because he was at the race control as a steward despite being a journalist in his professional life. They didn't know his background in motorsports. Still pisses me off to this day.

The track has one of the most mythical corners in F1, although I don't quite agree. Anyway, this alone will make this decision popular amongst F1 fans.
F1 has global appeal. For one weekend hundreds of millions of people will hear the names Turkey and Istanbul. If something interesting happens, this will happen for decades. I have no idea how much they are paying, but I think the ROI will be immense.
I believe this is a brilliant move. Congrats on getting the deal done!

I've been watching F1 for many years (although this year I'll probably stop after a few more races because of the stupid new Mario Kart formula) but still I'm not sure if I'm happy. I suspect this is as always hundreds of millions of dollars of taxpayer money being laundered and directed to friends and relatives of people in power.
Early-Show2886@reddit
no interest.
KaptanArkaKapi1@reddit
I not a big fan of the races personally but its a good thing 🔥🔥

It's cool, F1 fans love the İstanbul track as well so this is an overall win.

I’m sooooo excited. Istanbul Park is my favourite track. Not because it’s in Istanbul but the track itself is really good.
