No the pan won't work without this bit of plastic

You’ve bought them. They’re your property, do what you want with them.
Non-destructive option would be a strong neodymium magnet, destructive option would be wire/bolt cutters and/or a hammer.

I wasn't arsed about returning them :), I just didn't want them to be beeping for hours on end.
I tried some magnets but they didn't pull it apart.
I battled through queuing traffic to return them to the shop to get them removed.
Namaste_Life@reddit
Surely these don't beep? They trigger the beeping of the security system at the store...
Pedantichrist@reddit
They have not bought those tags.
HiddenSynner@reddit
In the uk there is a ball bearing in the bulging part break it open remove it and it falls apart

No, if you cut them off police drones carrying specially trained marmosets will descend on your house. They will have tasers and may eat all your biscuits.
mdmnl@reddit
No downside then.
FornyHucker22@reddit
Are they security tags? If so of course you can.
Just be sure they are not in fact some important part of whatever that is
Mindless_Ad_6045@reddit
I think they're some sort of cooking pots. They're just security tags
HugoNebula2024@reddit (OP)
They were security tags on a couple of pans.

Do you have any sort of magnet in the house? A magnet on the conical bit should cause it to pop and you'll be able to release them
Bujo88@reddit
It will be wire in the cord, which could be hard to cut. An alarm won't go off if you cut it though, they are just tags. A strong magnet on the base might release the cord too
NortonBurns@reddit
If you've got good enough cutters. I've not tried that type but the ones they're forever leaving on bottles in my supermarket delivery take all the strength I have, using a pair of dual-lever (high pressure) side cutters.
If they go off just drop them in a bowl of water until they shut up.
