For people who scoff at this, I wrote the same comment on the Ferrari sub.
No one who *dreams* of owning a Ferrari would be buying this.
But for people who already have whatever cars they wanted this could be the ultimate daily driver.
I personally know Ferrari owners who daily drive Taycans or even Teslas, this is for them.
Isn't insurance the primary reason why its really hard to drive exotics like Ferrari's? Because since the cars are worth so much insurance companies limit your mileage
Insurance companies don’t give a shit for how many miles you put on your cars as long as you estimate in advance and pay the premium.
Insurance isn’t the reason that’s hard to daily a Ferrari. Being a bad daily is the reason it’s hard to daily a Ferrari.
The Purosangue and this car change that.
What insurance company do you use? Because that was definitely not my experience trying to find someone to insure my Exige as a daily driver, most of the major companies I talked to were straight up like "lol no" for any price when they heard I wanted a policy that allowed high mileage and no usage restrictions and the car's worth maybe 1/5th of an Artura or 296 or something. like that.
The most expensive car I’ve owned is 718 Spyder RS and none of the insurance companies I talked with cared how often it was used or what milage I drove. Could have driven it 1000 miles a day in snow and the price would have been the same. This is in EU though.
Interesting how different it is between the EU and US then, having driven both here and in Europe I can say you guys are far better drivers and statistically road death and accident rates back that up, maybe that allows companies to be more inclusive? Plus insurance companies here having to cover medical and legal costs for claims.
Either way the Spyder RS seems like a perfect car for some of the roads we got to drive over there so hope you get to enjoy it as much as you can.
But insurance definitely is a super annoying thing when you have a fleet
We have a company fleet of cars, typical 5 series, Passat, formerly Audi A6 etc
The cayenne and a SQ8 we had could not be insure with the other cars because they were premium/too expensive, while the M5 could easily be insured normally
Might be some border at roughly 150k euros with our insurance
when you can use only 10% of the gas pedal without shitting your pants in normal roads it kinda gets annoying to drive I assume lmao, is there any modern ferrari with less than 700 hp?
Hmm the power isn’t the issue, people daily drive much more powerful EVs. Even my Artura is decent great daily.
It’s things like seating comfort, ride and noise, super low clearances, low visibility, lack of storage, etc that make those cars hard to daily, even if you can overlook the cost.
Insurance doesn't care as long as you tell them how many miles, sure it'll be more expensive but that's the case with every car. I have a neighbor at my office that has a 80 mile commute round trip and daily's his 720S.
The primary reason they're not typically used as daily drivers would be that they suck as daily drivers. I believe cars should be driven as much as possible, but commuting in a car like a Ferrari has so many downsides that the upsides aren't worth it. Most supercar guys around me seem to be daily driving Raptor R's because they're still "fun" to drive but are a pickup truck so they're somewhat useful. It's also why SUV's like the Urus and Purosangue are made as those are perfect daily drivers.
No, it's that a lot of owners believe that putting miles on exotics will severely damage resale value. To a degree they're right, but that's becoming less of an issue over time since exotics are so much more reliable than they used to be.
The other factors are that most people who have exotics have other cars too so they're splitting mileage among multiple vehicles. If you've got a family hauler, truck, and a few sports cars you may only put 1-3 thousand miles a year on any of the sports cars.
Differs per the insurer, you can get policies w/ unlimited miles, there are r some cheaper limited options
Hagerty will do true value w/o a mileage limit but you need a separate boring-ish daily for them to even consider you & they suggest "occasional pleasure"
But you can also just go to gieco or whatever
I feel like for a car like this, desirability is kinda meaningless. Even if its terrible, it is going to be the very first Ferrari EV. Collectors will want that for historical value alone.
The first mass produced quartz Rolex models hold very little value compared to mechanical models from the same age that were made in comparable numbers. Nobody really care that much.
Just like they want Ferrari hybrids? This is going to be mass produced, likely family orientated 1st generation ev. Desirability with collectors will be close to 0.
A pure EV is going to be a radical departure from everything we've known about Ferrari. Collectors already have the greatest hits so its not like they're cross shopping against a Testarossa or something.
Taycans are still affordable vehicles (for wealthier people), in this case 650k means it's going be their second most expensive car in their current lineup. Purosangue costs around 400k and covers all the bases (practicality and transporting 4 people in luxury, exotic looks & sounds).
They would really have to do something exceptional to beat the tech out of current EVa, which Ferrari is pretty bad at. My dad is the group you are talking about but he would never pay for an EV that does things worse for 650k.
Success is relative. Porsche sold 16k Taycans in 2025, that’s more than *all Ferrari* delivered in the same year.
So Ferrari’s success goal would be selling a couple thousands of these at high margin, and I think they’ll get it.
Ye I always just thought of these as a Porsche/Lambo situation where we think of 911s, GT4s, and Huracans but the ones you're mostly likely to see are the Macan, Cayenne and Urus.
There's more than enough who'd buy this to stay in Ferrari's good graces and have the disposable money to do so. And they would just be laughing at you for not having the money to do what they're doing.
Historically, the F80’s successor won’t be coming for another decade. Likely the next super desirable car will be a follow up to the SP3, but unless the EV is low production there won’t be enough special cars to entice customers to lose money on the EV.
Luce is not connected to the icons series cars or the halo cars. The sp4 will be allocated to people who already have the sp3, same way as the F80 is only allocated to laFerrari owners.
Most people who are buying this can afford to take the hit on depreciation, their financial situation is not meaningfully impacted by the resale value of their cars
They had trouble with 12 cilindri sales (still sold out, but not immediately). They’ve expanded their model range to the most in its history with 6 distinct models with unique platforms, now a 7th. They are absolutely gonna have trouble selling these, especially in jurisdictions without highly restrictive emissions laws (like northern Europe and east asia).
bro really thinks he has a mindset of a multimillionaire 😂 Depreciation may be the last thing they’ll worry about if a buyer really wants to buy this car. No one who “just saved up” is contacting Ferrari to buy this. This is for elites with a network in Ferrari.
Me too but these people already has multiple RRs 🤣. Look at people like Louis from the Gentleman's Garage, he views his RRs like Toyota Prius. He almost died in a crash racing for the Ferrari challenge, just to be on top of the Ferrari client list. RRs is just a BMW subsidiary to these people.
Any horsepower and torque / drivetrain predictions?
For 1/6 of this price you can get a Tesla model plaid with 1000 horsepower.
Maybe we shouldn't expect performance rivaling the rimac nevera... But I don't think there are many EVs at this price point so it will be interesting
> According to a new report from Bloomberg, the automaker’s upcoming Luce EV is slated to arrive with a hefty base price of around $647,000.
> The news comes by way of sources reportedly familiar with the company's operations, who spoke to Bloomberg on the condition of anonymity. Said sources claim that the automaker has come to this pricing decision just a month before the electric speed machine is slated for its global debut in Rome
> That said, the sources also noted that pricing could change by as much as 10 percent in either direction before the silk is officially pulled off.
I was expecting it to be closer to half that, at most. $200k more than a Purosangue is rich
This comment section feels like bizarro world. Every time an auto maker releases an expensive performance EV this sub relentlessly shits on it. "All EVs are the same," "nobody wants microwaved steak," "who buys a $500K Apple watch?" People love to point out the Nevera failing to sell out and the stillborn Porsche 919.
But because it's a Ferrari it's all "it's already sold out," "will be a collector's item," "these people will spend nearly $1 million and don't care aboit depreciation."
Ferrari’s ability to sell anything is not what it used to be, shown by the SF90.
Especially as the EV is releasing after F80 allocations, they won’t have that as a motivator for customers to take a loss on it.
Thats a common misconception. The sf90 sold very well which helped Ferrari make record profits. Infact, it sold so well that they overproduced it during the COVID boom. It's not a limited car and depreciation is expected in the secondary market like all series production Ferraris. The sf90XX has a starting msrp of $700,000, it is now selling at around $1.7 million to $2 million in the secondary market.
Is there not a grain of truth to it though, they'll sell a number of these to fervent enthusiasts who want acceptable daily & more importantly an f120 allocation or whatever, this would've been a wonderful fiat panda
Nevera sales picked up a bit after it meant you got on the list for a v16 Bugatti. "All EVs are the same (at any reasonable price point)", which still isn't true obviously, but its true-er
I also think it should be under the Purosangue, but I don't really care about Ferrari pricing strategy. If people buy it regardless, go crazy I guess.
It's more that with every other EV there's criticism of the strategy, questioning demand, wondering how the EV in question differentiates itself from less expensive but equally powerful options. Nobody is asking those questions of the Luce.
People think the Dodge fratzonic thing is stupid and laughed at the Aston CEO for talking about how to make an EV sound like a V12. Ferrari is attaching an accelerometer to one of the motors to feed the fundamental vibrational frequency into the cabin so the experience can feel more like an engine. That's no less gimmicky than Dodge and Aston.
For $650K I'd expect something more interesting than a basic skateboard pack with a 2.3 ton weight. I don't find most skateboard EVs enjoyable to drive, I'm curious if the Luce will feel natural.
I just think there are some reasonable doubts about the car that would be leveled at any other in the industry, but it gets a pass because it's a Ferrari.
>Comparatively few people are asking those questions of the Luce.
Well, to be honest, Ferrari is in completely different league than rest of the market, when it comes to the brand value. If they did limited production massive pile of shit, and put Ferrari badge on it it would still sell like crazy.
>basic skateboard pack with a 2.3 ton weight
I mean, it's a 4-door GT. Realistically only a skateboard pack is suitable. What other pack config is better?
Hmmm I don't A pack that size can just go under the seats and the center tunnel. Even Rimac's T-shaped battery only has a bunch of cells on the center tunnel and most of them where the engine would normally go.
Plus, by making the shape highly irregular, you're complicating the cooling circuit and there's a chance the shell might need further strengthening.
Honestly it's a GT car. A skateboard is perfectly fine. The new AMG 4 door EV is using a skateboard too IIRC. You don't need more complexity for complexity sakes.
> Even Rimac's T-shaped battery only has a bunch of cells on the center tunnel
The Nevera is the length of a 3 series. The Luce will presumably be longer. It also boasts the highest energy density of any battery pack. I think they could make it work if they prioritized it. I just don't think it was a goal (not that it should be just because I think it would be better).
> The new AMG 4 door EV is using a skateboard too IIRC.
That's one reason (among many) I'm not interested in it. The Jaguar won't have a skateboard and it's one of the reasons I am interested in it.
> You don't need more complexity for complexity's sake.
It's not for complexity's sake; it provides a better driving experience IMO. For me, a big part of what makes most EVs feel disconnected is that it feels like you're driving on top of the car. It's not every skateboard pack that feels that way, but the vast majority do to me.

they'll say that those who bought the Luce will have priority for the next limited model, forcing those who want to have a chance at the next limited model to buy it regardless of how much they want it
The more times I see that interior the less I like it. Apple product designs are nice for computers but it just looks so boring in a Ferrari. It’s just giving Logitech.
While I think an EV Ferrari at $650k is sacrilege, I feel like most of the comments here are similar to what would have been said when the Cayenne was released.
I imagine a lot of the wives will want this car, it will become a female status symbol the same way the G63 is. And no, the G63 is not popular with the wives because of the engine, or the noise. Its the badge, look and price.
Slower 0-60 time, less power, worse drag coefficient, bigger frontal area (presumably). The Sapphire should win every straight line race. But handling is where you'd assume the Ferrari will come good.
Is this the Ioniq 5N competitor they've been working on? And people thought the 5N was too expensive. Ferrari says hold my beer. Better come with some crazy V12 power curves/sounds!
Oh they're definitely going make people buy 3 to get on the list to enter the drawing for the car that you need to buy to be eligible for consideration for the next special Ferrari
Call me old fashioned, but giant shift paddles on EVs still feel incredibly dorky.
The design is would be gorgeous without them - it comes off as Ferrari being self conscious about not having a gearbox.
The Purosangue at 500K was a hugely success. Let's see if they can pull a miracle here.
Spectre is the second best selling Rolls Royce, only after the Cullinan.
I just don't know how can Ferrari justify low volume on non-special editions.
