My household had both blue and brown. You plebs.
SevereDeparture739@reddit
Galaxy? I believe it was Lasko brand, but yes the blue one and it's hilarious that we all grew up with the same damn fan.
Brave_Cranberry1065@reddit

Snow_Crash_Bandicoot@reddit (OP)
Same. Really surprised I didn’t lose a fingertip somehow.
nirreskeya@reddit
That was from the older fans our grandparents had with spaces between the cage bars that you could drive a HotWheels truck through.
Organic_Alfalfa6419@reddit
I had brown and my parents had a blue one. The blue one finally bit the dust last year - I was still using it up until the end!
TulsaOUfan@reddit
Brown one here
geekdadchris@reddit
Mine was blue too, but a lot more pale of a blue than that.
Twitch-Weasel-51@reddit
Still have that exact fan! Still works great, too!
General_Departure583@reddit
I remember a blueish one in my room as a kid in the summers. Me and my sister would talk into the fan blade to sound like Darth Vader. 😂
extzed@reddit
I think it was brown/tan
singleguy79@reddit
Luke, I am your father...
Evabythewater@reddit
My mom still has hers. It's blue and the space between the cage bars were far enough apart to get my fingers in there.
Spaceboy779@reddit
Yes, that exact one, lol
HratioRastapopulous@reddit
Same. The buttons had a great press-feel to them.
E-2theRescue@reddit
And that "clonk" when you switched it off.
fannyalgerpack@reddit
And the satisfying pull of the oscillating knob
chriszimort@reddit
Yesssss. And ours had a loose cage that constantly rattled, but it was so relaxing. Like sleep noises built in.
Clear_Might8528@reddit
Me too, my little fingers could slot right through!
SpaceLemur34@reddit
Same.
Diligent_Kitchen7705@reddit
That one, lol. My parents finally got rid of it. Not because it stopped working, but because I broke it trying to clean the blades 🤣.
Holmes221bBSt@reddit
Yup I had this one in blue also
WildxxxMushroom@reddit
We did. It was brown or tan
el_penultimo@reddit
Had the blue one at home, a brown/tan one at my grandparents and aunts house. That click was so satisfying when pressing the buttons.
Specialist-Function7@reddit
Still going strong! Use it every night.

zoey8068@reddit
Same and they worked until about 2007/08 right about the time I married my wife
Rdubya291@reddit
I called it dirty orange as a kid. Lol
E-2theRescue@reddit
Same one. We just threw it out a few months ago because the motor had finally burned. Amazing how many decades it lasted.
anemptycardboardbox@reddit
Same! I didn’t even know that this era made anything in blue lol
Zeqhanis@reddit
A dark amber color. I didn't know a more pleasant blue was available. Though I guess it blended in with all the orange carpeting and wood paneling, which were popular then. Sort of an in-between translucent color that really ties the room together.
Then again, blue is directly opposite on the color wheel, making it the complementary color. You know, when you really want to make your oscillating fan pop, visually (as opposed to pyrotechnically). That's your focal point right there.
Whether you're working in an office or sleeping in a cardboard box, that's your conversation starter.
"Yes, that is a Galaxy fan. It oscillates. No, I'm not making payments...I OWN it, baby." Lasko Products really had it all figured out.
Gurthy_Lengthiness@reddit
I can hear the buttons clicking just by looking at this photo. We had a brown/beige one.
Marquis_Marx@reddit
That one. We had that one.
DapperRockerGeek@reddit
Brown. I remember there was a wall mounted one in Puerto Rico that was controlled by a pull chain.
neonbrownkoopashell@reddit
I had this one, without the cage, in my room. I once kicked it in anger when it was on and sliced my big toe.
Dylan_Is_Gay_lol@reddit
Brown.
comradb0ne@reddit

Klutzy_Cat1374@reddit
We had this exact same one. The motor finally gave out a few years ago. It was white but the motor housing discolored yellow from the heat.
lonely_nipple@reddit
They came in colors that weren't brown??
Peaceoorwar@reddit
That's literally the fan I still use. My neighbor was throwing it away and it still worked perfectly had it about two years now
Wurfelrolle@reddit
I still have one, but it doesn't like starting on the low setting anymore.

Globalksp@reddit
Gold one and blue one!
Adrasteia-One@reddit
My grandma had this exact one. I miss her when I see this picture.
Allaplgy@reddit
I don't specifically remember Galaxy fans by nane, but this picture called up distinct multisensory memories of my Grandma's house. I can feel the humidity. And I think hers was brownish pink or something.
Adrasteia-One@reddit
That's a good point. We remember so many other experiences or sensations by association of some object or photo. It's pretty nostalgic too, isn't it?
Allaplgy@reddit
Very much so. Similar to the feelings certain smells evoke.
Fr0stbite37@reddit
To my surprise they had it in ac:nh
Snow_Crash_Bandicoot@reddit (OP)
Yes. I have one in my house there. 😂
w00keee@reddit
We had a Panasonic that looked exactly like that. Same colors and everything.
Snow_Crash_Bandicoot@reddit (OP)
I have an 18” blue Panasonic.
TaurusOH@reddit
Still have one. Its white with gray blades and buttons.
SushiStew-1007@reddit
Brown/tan. My grandparents house had 2 brown/tan ones. My mother had one. I took hers and used it until it finally gave way.
Severe-Fly8964@reddit
Brown and still have it. It still has its glow in the dark mummy spider sticker from a cereal box.
Snow_Crash_Bandicoot@reddit (OP)
😮😮😮
TheGirlwThePinkHair@reddit
We had central air, so my parents wouldn’t buy fans. I love fan noise but fans were banned
Snow_Crash_Bandicoot@reddit (OP)
My condolences.
mystiqueallie@reddit
Blue and I almost electrocuted myself when I was 4ish because I didn’t know that frayed cords are bad. Plugged it in, got a mild zap and a loud crackle. My dad across the room said you plugged in the fan didn’t you? And I said “um, nooooo” in the guiltiest voice. I didn’t muck around with plugging stuff in for a long time.
Mysterious_Carpet752@reddit
Lmao.
No_Bake_3627@reddit
Wait it was supposed to have a front cover on it???
ZipperJJ@reddit
I have that very fan still. In my guest room. Same color. Still works.
MoulanRougeFae@reddit
We had a blue one. But the preferred fans were the big metal ones a 1940s Vornado Pedestal Oscillating Fan and several table ones. These things had metal blades that would take off a finger probably. They all made an amazing breeze though
Donniejuanny@reddit
Same one. This was almost like A/c when your parents refused to spend money on air conditioning the house.
WhatTheCluck802@reddit
My mother still has hers!
inspctrshabangabang@reddit
My parents still have this fan. It's a lighter blue.

Borsodi1961@reddit
Wow; the sight of this unlocked a childhood feeling
RogowskiCoil@reddit
My aunt had the brown one. It was passed on to me at some point. At one point the blade piece came loose and I rigged up some solution using a sock. The fan was eventually discharged with honor.
Emergency_Ad1851@reddit

DabbledInPacificm@reddit
Still have mine
Rose1982@reddit
We had one just break down in the last couple years. Uhhhh brown maybe? Can’t remember.
musical_shares@reddit
In laws have the brown, parents have the blue one pictured.
Parents have had the blue one set up in their room since “the change” came to town with all her night sweats in tow, some 20 years ago. Dad hates that thing and would probably happily gift it to us when “the change” comes knocking ‘round these parts.
neatac69@reddit
Yep. Mine was green.

August_Merriweather@reddit
We had the same color.

JohnBrine@reddit
I remember that guy.
Powerful_Tale_1319@reddit

So many Darth Vader voices spoken into it. 😂
jinrohme2000@reddit
Had that exact fan
Worth_Specific3764@reddit
harvest gold, still have it, still going strong. idk how many times I've pulled the whole thing apart and deep cleaned it, def at least twice a year. thing is unkillable.
Snow_Crash_Bandicoot@reddit (OP)
Had to deep clean this one when I got it back home. It’s on good condition, but I didn’t want someone else’s dust blowing all over my room.
2kewl4scool@reddit
This one
Chemical-Coconut-879@reddit
I have a Lasko sitting by my bed
TigerIll6480@reddit
Blue.
bassjam1@reddit
Same blue one as that. I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did with as much as I played with those buttons.
ValancyNeverReadsit@reddit
My grandparents had bunch of these because my grandfather apparently wouldn’t let my grandmother turn on the a/c until really late into the hot weather. In north Florida.
After he died my grandmother got rid of them all and started turning on the a/c when she wanted to.
Snow_Crash_Bandicoot@reddit (OP)
My grandfather travelled a lot for work, so my grandmother always ran the huge A/C unit. 😂
ValancyNeverReadsit@reddit
Theirs were a mixture of blue ones and brown ones. I liked the blue ones best because the color was so peaceful seeming
bussysniffer3000@reddit
I don't remember the color I do remember it leaking some kind of black stuff like oil and almost catching on fire
EliteCheddarCommando@reddit
Can you give me back our fan? Thanks!
Snow_Crash_Bandicoot@reddit (OP)
No. 😂😂😂
Traditional_Ad_1547@reddit
We had these in our pop up camper as a kid. One is still in working order in my parents workout room. Lol
WarpTroll@reddit
Growing up? I still have my blue one!
Snow_Crash_Bandicoot@reddit (OP)
Oooooh, lucky! I wish I would’ve had the foresight to ask for one when they were sold off at family garage sales.
WarpTroll@reddit
I'm just surprised it still works. Grabbed it right after college after having it growing up.
Johnny-cache@reddit
I’m not sure I knew they came in any color other than brown or tan 😆
Kind-Feeling2490@reddit
The two we had just broke within the past year and they looked like the one pictured in the photo. It amazes me how long some things from my childhood last.
Negative-Midnight681@reddit

Faustus_Fan@reddit
I had the brown one in my room, my sister had the blue one in hers. I was always so jealous that she got blue, since that was my favorite color.
Helo7606@reddit

My grandma had two. One was brown and the other was the blue in the pic. Those suckers could put out some cool air.
mattchewy43@reddit
I didn't know they came in anything but varying shades of brown.
spacedwarf2020@reddit

BlackPhoenix1981@reddit
Beige. And like a weird caramely brown color.
Snow_Crash_Bandicoot@reddit (OP)
I have an 18” Galaxy fan also that is also in that caramely brown colour.
Tall-Introduction414@reddit
We got ours at a garage sale (white and gray) in the 90s, and the front grill was held on with twisty ties.
I feel like it's still in an attic somewhere.
Biguitarnerd@reddit
I had one in that exact color on my dresser in my bedroom as a kid. What a blast from the past.
So-Called_Lunatic@reddit
These were standard issue.
greatlakesavenger77@reddit
I bet this is still at my mothers house somewhere

takeaDip48@reddit
Not only did I have it in blue growing up but I relocated that same fan from my parents house to my house and I still use it
Economy-Weird-2368@reddit
Had one with a lighter shade of blue. Or it was just faded due to age and use.
I remember always being hesitant to put it on the highest setting as a kid because I thought it was going to fly away.
Thanks for unlocking that fun memory.
Imaginary-Race311@reddit
Brownish gold. Always reliable.
psychic-Sasquatch@reddit
Brown, pretty much every shade of brown.
midnight-dour@reddit
Brown/tan, as I recall.

Northern_Lights_2@reddit
We had this blue one.
Steel1000@reddit
I can smell this picture.
jp7755qod@reddit
I blame these for starting my lifelong need to have a fan going while I fall asleep. Not sure about the color, but I definitely remember the “blender” buttons.
crzytech1@reddit
Mine was brown, and my kid Sisters' was blue.
Lasted until the mid 2000s, my brown one moved out with me and served in my first apartment for the whole time I lived there.
Complex_Armadillo49@reddit
Brownish.. not sure how much of that was from my moms smoking
Vern1138@reddit
That's kind of funny. And kind of not funny. I'm pretty sure my grandparents had a brown one when I was growing up. But... like you, I'm not sure if that's because it was supposed to be brown or because of my Grandma's smoking.
She still made it to 94 though, which was amazing. Although she stopped smoking when she was in her 60's, so that probably helped.
Complex_Armadillo49@reddit
When my mom and grandma were living together late in life, I remember spending the night and having nightmares that the house was on fire because it was so smoky. Grandma had breast, lung and brain cancer and survived it all until a stroke took her out. My mom still smokes 3 packs a day. Her walls are so so yellow lol
HotCucumber759@reddit
No idea but my voice sounds like a robot.
FUWS@reddit
Good find, we had a similar one but different off brand. Just in plain beige color that eventually turned dark grey because nobody cleaned things like that.
