Someone said golden chick and that's true, I think kfc possibly does their fries this way too

The food stand at 3 Nations Brewery has fries like this. You can get a large container (enough for two) for around $7. They’re delicious!

For me, I think Liberty Burger makes the best burger I’ve ever had. Go to the Keller Springs location. I’ve been to some of the other locations and found them somewhat inconsistent. Skinny fries are amazing. All the burgers I’ve tried are great. They make their own bread and grind their own meat, I think. My favorite is a lamb burger with feta, baby spinach, roasted tomatoes, and tzatziki sauce. But the basic burger is also terrific. Not “fast food”, but for me and my family, it’s our go-to burger. Just go to the Keller Springs location if possible.

One of the best affordable restaurants in Dallas (not counting the hospital bill).
Accurate-Tension-599@reddit
Literally ON GOD
Working there must be elite
I know theyre underpaid, but $6 lunch for any cuisine you want in your same building?
Might be worth it tbh
ehandren@reddit
Can confirm, not worth it
Accurate-Tension-599@reddit
Why
Is the rest of the food bad?
ehandren@reddit
Nah being underpaid, understaffed, have to pay a ridiculous amount of money out of my paycheck to park there when there isn't enough parking to accommodate all the employees, and a $6 lunch that gets awfully monotonous after years as some sort of consolation prize isn't worth it
Accurate-Tension-599@reddit
Yea i heard about the parking
And they force you to invest like 10% of everything paycheck in the teachers program thing right?
Isn't that useless to people who wont work there for like a couple decades?

FR tho I ate some kids meal leftovers once and they were 100/10. If Raising Cane's chicken tenders and fries were that good, I'd eat there twice a week!

Raising Cane’s fries reminds me of what’s left in the frozen fry bag when it’s time to throw it away.
KazumaWillKiryu@reddit
That was perfect.

Battered fries. Olive Burger has them.
pchoi95@reddit
Olive Burger is goated
InfernalBiryani@reddit
Hot take but I feel like their quality went down a little. It’s still decent but better options aren’t too much further away. Granted the last time I went was a couple years ago so that could’ve changed.
Previous_Station2086@reddit
Nah, it went down. First time I went there in … 2015ish the burger was just unbelievably huge, everything was amazing.
Last time I went a few years ago it was all still fine but the burger was smaller and dryer. I haven’t gone back. It was fine, but compared to what it was, it just didn’t hit the spot.
Torchy’s is the same. Such a sad decline.
IhaveRBFbecauseIamAB@reddit
I think Hop Doddy’s has the best burgers.
InfernalBiryani@reddit
Yup that was pretty much my experience. I didn’t mind it at the time since I’m not super picky, but I’ve definitely had better burgers since then so there’s really not much reason to go back.
I still remember when the Richardson location was bustling, best burgers I had at the time. Then I went back a year or two ago and it was pretty much empty except for me and a few friends. Sad to see that it isn’t what it used to be.
Randusnuder@reddit
This is correct.
Burgers are cheap but they are mid.
InfernalBiryani@reddit
Yeah price-wise they’re decent, and mid isn’t always a bad thing. But there’s not much reason to go there when you can get better burgers for a slightly higher price without driving too far.
pchoi95@reddit
I used to go to the one next to UTD religiously until the kitchen caught fire. Not sure about the quality of that location but the one in Frisco definitely doesn’t hit as good.
InfernalBiryani@reddit
I’ve only ever been to the Richardson one you mentioned and the Plano location. Both used to be top notch, but now they’re just OK. They used to be my favorite burger spots until like 3 years ago. Too bad they went downhill, I still remember being a kid when the one near UTD was popping off.
PositiveStorage5582@reddit
I can't tell you if it ever went down because I went for the first time two years ago and thought it was mid.

SipoteQuixote@reddit
Chicken Express > Golden Chick
blonde_welkin@reddit
I would agree if it weren’t for golden chick’s chicken sandwich. it’s pretty legit
Ill-Birthday3311@reddit
Man I been by a chicken express in Coppell for years and never tried it - I didn’t know it was legit
Relative_Specific217@reddit
Oh you need to try it, 100% legit. Tastes more like home cooked food than any fast food chicken place I’ve had.
NoCatharsis@reddit
Man they’ve raised their prices over the years though. Like a whole lot.
kgosfm@reddit
And which restaurant hasn't?
Infamous_Grass6333@reddit
I got a combo at Golden Chick for just over $9 the other day. Excellent price. The In and Out of chicken fast food.
Nubitz122@reddit
They really have. A 4 piece tender combo (drink, 1 side and roll) is like $14. An 8 piece family meal ( 1 large side, 8 rolls)is $25 after tax. So I do believe this is a large contributing factor to their lack of popularity unless you knew them from back in the day. But maaaaan……their chicken is top tier. Both white and dark meat breast/wings absolutely slap. Tenders are pretty good, nice balance of crispness with juiciness. Not a lot of flavor and they don’t have a sauce anymore, so that’s going against them too. More country style than urban style.
NoCatharsis@reddit
That’s why I love them - because I grew up going to Chicken E and it was my favorite. In high school (around 2000) you could get a full lunch there for $5 and we would go several times a week. Off-campus eating and it was across the street from my school. Those were the days haha
Relative_Specific217@reddit
Same. I lived in west Texas growing up and Chicken Express is everywhere out there. It was cheap and so good.
Relative_Specific217@reddit
You gotta get the gravy! I don’t even use sauce for chicken express just drip everything in gravy.
ryker272@reddit
Its less than $12 for the 4 piece tender express and the chicken twnders are better than Popeyes fried batter.
These_Two8043@reddit
It’s pricey but still comparable to other fast food, except better, and leftovers reheat in oven or air fryer! Busy nights where kids have had dinner and we haven’t, like last night, we’ll get them to bed then I run and grab chicken express for my husband and I. 2 four tender combos (spicy, and they always give you extra chicken!) no drink for an extra side (4 sides total, okra is a must for us both), 2 rolls, 2 gravy and 4 ranch (no charge) is $23.79! But I always have leftovers and they reheat so well, especially the fried pickles and chicken. Golden chick is literally across the street but I drive 15 minutes to Rowlett just for this stuff haha
AdWide3730@reddit
I got this meal with the extra side instead of drink yesterday at Frankford and Midway. Was like $11 and change after tax.
xoxo_angelica@reddit
That may be true but they go dummy with the serving size. Like I get a full 5 or 6 strips ever time without fail, comprised of some larger and smaller pieces and the meat is perfect and juicy every time. Sure it’s expensive but everything is now, at least the quality remains unbeatable (not sponsored just ride or die for chicken e)
Idealistt@reddit
How bad is it now? I remember them being expensive in the early 2010’s
TheBungoStrays@reddit
Our family of 3 eaters (I have to say that weird bc we are a family of 4 but one of them exclusively eats via a feeding tube and therefore doesn't count when eating out lol) usually gets the family pack 30-35 strips or whatever it is that also comes with 2 sides, gravy and 6 rolls and we add 6 more rolls and the last time we had them was at least 6 months ago at $75-80. Prices are INSANE.
Idealistt@reddit
Yeah that’s insane. IIRC that combo used to be ~$50
Academic_Librarian75@reddit
Get the serendipity, it comes in a hot version. Takes the chicken over the top, I usually sprinkle a little on the gravy and replenish as needed.
Koskani@reddit
Fkn love me some spicy express tenders
Ill-Birthday3311@reddit

viagra___girls@reddit
Man, I used to work at chicken E. And PHEW a tendy and some okra straiiiight outta the fryer. fucking top tier.
Proof_Obligation_855@reddit
Ehh their new fries suck. And golden chicken has better rolls, gravy fries, and the sauce i like chicken express but golden is better imo
rhg84@reddit
Nah chicken express is completely bland. Golden chick with zing for the win
nchs1120@reddit
Except for the fries weirdly enough lol. Worth saying on this post
SipoteQuixote@reddit
Yea i end up trading em for something else, those corn nuggets tho.
DarthJahona@reddit
I used to like their fries but they changed them in the last year or two and they just aren't good. Crinkle cut fries but just very generic tasting.
nchs1120@reddit
Yeah I was super disappointed chicken express changed them to run of the mill crinkle. Express had my favorite fast food fries til the switch
AdventurousTime@reddit
The hot sauce and honey combo is so peak
Chazzybobo@reddit
SWEET TEA AT CHICKEN E
xomox2012@reddit
Depends on the location imo for express. Golden is consistent place to place but express can easily be top tier for chicken tenders. They have some locations in Frisco and Allen that sorta suck though.
ChrysMYO@reddit
That used to be a thing with Church's Chicken too. There used to be certain hot spots that just made good chicken. But somewhere along the way the bum Franchisees outnumbered and bought out the good ones.
I still see just one by my Barbershop. But it seem like its Church's in name only at this point. Better than you would expect, but not the classic brand.
Valerie_austin_1965@reddit
Yeah Like around Forest and marsh Sooo good back then in the 70s Now hard pass

Valerie_austin_1965@reddit
I live in Allen also. Agree 💯
Sympathy_Lilly@reddit
So accurate not even funny. I like in garland and the nearest CE is awful. I will drive out of the way to the one in Rowlett for the tea and sides.

You can also get it at Lisa’s
lkc503@reddit
Carl’s Jr has (had?) fried okra too. It was halfway decent imo.
permalink_save@reddit
I have never seen fried okra at carls but maybe never paid attention (and I mostly ate it in cali). I wish one was nearby. I got excited when I saw one pop up on maps but it was a kroger ghost kitchen and they only sold basic ass burgers.
lkc503@reddit
Oh snap, my bad it was Church’s Chicken that had the fried okra! Carl’s had fried zucchini.
permalink_save@reddit
Aw... And yeah they and golden chick have okra. And gravy. It makes me hate that all the chicken around here is chickfila or canes. I have to make the journey up 75 or go down to fair park to get proper chicken and okra.

EVERYTHING at LJS tastes like fish grease. Fries, cole slaw, tea, fountain drinks, desserts (if they have them). Which is why I haven't set foot in one for over 40 years.

Valuable_Corgi_3685@reddit
While I like the food there, I stopped going because every LJS I went to had this greasy film on everything, floors, tables, etc.

I ate the the Jake’s in Frisco and didn’t like it very much. Are their other locations better?
Crease_Greaser@reddit
The one in Dallas on Skillman has been a staple for me since I was a teen in the early 2000’s (and they’ve been there longer than that) and the food is generally on point. Probably helps that they have an old ass well-seasoned grill in there. Their vibe is also benefiting from the fact that they have an old-ass wooden building, tenured employees, and you can get beer at the drive thru. Their newer locations might follow the same recipes but the secret ingredient is the gritty charm.
