Had this whilst at college. I took the replacement, got halfway through same thing again. Took the replacement for the replacement, same again, gave it to a friend, he got the replacement, same again, got a replacement...
This went on until 4 of us had eaten at least 1.5 burgers each.
RecentTwo544@reddit
Devils advocate here - that might not be as dangerous as it looks on the first photo, and the second kind of backs it up because it looks way more uniform.
Chicken is cooked when it hits 74c internal, end of story. That's when it is safe to eat.
Stuff about "not being pink" or "juices being clear" is a rough guide for when food temperature probes weren't £10 from Asda or Tesco.
A cooked, temperature-safe chicken piece can still be pink looking at its deepest point and as long as its 75c, it's fine. Most common in bone-in thighs.
People often cook a chicken breast until its way overcooked because of this, which is why dry horrible chicken breast is a staple complaint among gym guys. On the flip-side, a thin cut like chicken wings can look "cooked" when it's still in the 60-70c range, which is why wings are the biggest cause of chicken based food poisoning.
Any food outlet should be doing temp checks with a probe, and no harm in reporting it to your local authority to check up on them. KFC franchise rules weren't great in years gone by - could easily find a hygiene rating of 1 or 2 at times, never happens with McDonalds - but they are better.
TL;DR - I personally wouldn't eat that because I'm a paranoid hypochondriac emetophobe, but I'd make a small bet given the rest looks perfectly cooked (and even a little dry and overcooked) that it's actually fine and probably because that piece of meat previously joined onto a bone.

I used to work at a restaurant, and one of the main dishes we served was chicken confit. The chefs basically left the chicken cooking overnight for 12 hours at 95C. It would come out pink more often than not. Trying to explain to the customers that they were eating the most cooked dish in our menu was like speaking to a wall. They ended up removing it.
IamNATx@reddit
If it's less than what you paid - no.
Cruump@reddit
I disagree. It’s not just a quality issue, it’s a health issue. The bare minimum should be much higher than £15 AND a strong review of internal practices, to ensure this doesn’t happen again.
themcsame@reddit
Honestly, for me, it isn't even that it's only £15.
It the fact that it's a FUCKING VOUCHER.
You've just served me undercooked chicken, why the fuck do you think I'd want to come back and order MORE chicken from you?
IamNATx@reddit
Ohhhh. Yeah I missed that part. That's all kinds of ridiculous.
themcsame@reddit
The worst bit is that this is very much a recurring issue for KFC. It's not as if it's a one off you'd be willing to chance. It's a common complaint against their locations, which only makes the ridiculousness of offering a voucher even worse.
Cruump@reddit
Agreed, the audacity is outrageous. I hope OP takes this much further.
itsfourinthemornin@reddit
We had a KFC where staff constantly undercooked chicken, a friend managed a day there after watching staff putting raw and cooked chicken together regularly. Enough complained eventually it's now closed. I went once, for a full refund and went elsewhere.
mdmnl@reddit
£15 is fair.
But I've never seen the insanity of KFC from a plate so....
GrabbedByTheGhost@reddit
What do you eat food off?
RecentTwo544@reddit
The box it came in if it's fast-food/takeout.
Is this genuinely a shock to you? Not being arsey, I've never known anyone to be surprised by this.
GrabbedByTheGhost@reddit
If I'm eating it on the go yeah but if I take it home it's going on a fucking plate 😂
VMS_UK@reddit
Whaaaat but then you have to wash the plate! Ooooh check you too good for a box eh haha /s
thepentahook@reddit
You unbox the food to plate it up ? Sounds weird. Granted I only eat at fast food chains when travelling so rarely leave the car or resteraunt. But taking food home and then plating it up seems like unnecessary extra steps.
Nuker-79@reddit
This happened to me several years ago but with popcorn chicken, I was initially offered replacement chicken which I rejected and asked to make a formal complaint. They said they would get in touch with the findings, they agreed the chicken was not cooked and offered me a similar gesture as you got, I rejected it instantly and they asked what I would like, I was in the spot and jokingly said £500, they said they would get back to me. I then received a cheque in the post for £500 and no more was said by them.
MesoamericanMorrigan@reddit
Astounding that they managed to undercook chicken so small
rectal_warrior@reddit
My guess was that it was cooked from frozen instead of thawed, everything at fart food places is timed, someone just messed up the thawing time and they were cooked for the same time.
Object_Such@reddit
Umm
DecentLiam9@reddit
Do they not temperature check?
VMS_UK@reddit
Holyyyy shit. I would be claiming I have food poisoning and going for a much higher amount.
TapeDeckSlick@reddit
I'd argue my case for a full refund but if they're giving me the runaround I probably wouldn't waste that much time on it
sparklychestnut@reddit
I think I'd worry that the next person to get raw chicken might get really sick, especially if it was an elderly person, or a young child.
doihavetousethis@reddit
A few years back we had a KFC and the inside was pink.
We complained about it and the fella said...
The marinade, it's gone too deep then offered to replace it
abfgern_@reddit
Given that you didn't actually get sick, I doubt you'd get much better, I'd definitely ask for a proper refund, but honestly life's too short to try and get anything better.
Definitely report it to the local health authority/board/whatever though, as well as their own internal reporting. KFC's a big franchise so I'd imagine they'd come down on that kindof thing quite hard, as it's not worth the reputational damage of a bad franchisee not being up to scratch.
johnmarksmanlovesyou@reddit
My next step would be to give myself salmonella then sue them for damages
mdmnl@reddit
Practice that compoface
Pebbles015@reddit
If you get salmonella, the compoface practices itself.....
PeterG92@reddit
Got to make sure you're pointing at the burger
AmeliaOfAnsalon@reddit
Send it to the lab and we'll take it from here
ThrowRAMomVsGF@reddit
Sashimi chicken! Popular in some places in Asia.
thepentahook@reddit
True story. I have seen it on menus in Japan. Wasn't brave enough to try it though. Maybe Japan has better standards for chicken. But since I was there for business shitting myself literally during the meeting sounds like a bad idea.
MintberryCrunch____@reddit
They do, had chicken heart sashimi because I was intrigued, it was better than you would expect but still raw chicken, wouldn’t recommend.
ceciem2100@reddit
I would not accept it for sure.
Charlie_Yu@reddit
I guess I'm too Asian on this and I'd happily finish it
jimicus@reddit
Twitter.
You're hardly going to take them to court over it, and even if you did you'd only be entitled to replacement of the unsatisfactory bits (so - one fillet burger).
CrapiSunn@reddit
This would violate health and safety laws to end up with undercooked chicken which can result in unlimited fines and an amount of jail time. It's in the best interest of the restaurant to do everything to keep this quiet.
fussdesigner@reddit
There is precisely zero chance that KFC are getting sent to prison over this, or that they would even be fined anything over a single failure.
Dimac99@reddit
It wouldn't be KFC though, it would be the franchise owner.
swifftie@reddit
15 quid is absolutely fair. Easily covers that meal and a bit more.
WishProfessional7949@reddit
Dude I once bought a fillet burger and it was raw too, but not as bad as that, I still ate it as I wasn't quite sure why it was harder.
MountainMuffin1980@reddit
£15 didn't cover the cost of your meal? I dinno what else you'd be after tbh.
Secret-Inspector-89@reddit
Money. £15 voucher to a restaurant that serves raw chicken isn't exactly a reimbursement.
TrousersCalledDave@reddit
If OP gets food poisoning, they're absolutely entitled to compensation which would cover any missed work and a little extra for going through the misery that food poisoning entails. It's probably still quite difficult to prove though.
If the only consequence is OP got their money back and a little bit more, than that's about as good as it's gonna get.
conduit_for_nonsense@reddit
Full refund at a minimum. More if you get sick.
PeroniNinja84@reddit
Blimey, first it was wooden chicken, now this. No point accepting a rubbish voucher when you’re never going to go there again.
Hammering1@reddit
I encountered something similar, different company. However I didn't notice my undercooked food until I got home with my take away. My complaint was filed via the telephone, I was offered a free replacement at the same branch of which I kindly refused as I said they were incompetent the 1st time around.
As a compromise, they just told me to go to a different branch and order up to a certain value that would be my compensation, no voucher or code, just turn up explain the situation and quote a name via customer service.
I informed the branch manager, he instructed my food be all cooked fresh.
In the meantime, out of nowhere a bunch of young women started to scream inside the restaurant. It was then evident a mouse was running around in the shop floor with 2 staff members trying to kill/catch it 😂
I kindly told the manager soon after to cancel the order and left. With this I decided not to eat at this company anymore and instead have a story to share for the future.
Name :BK in The Netherlands
Pedantichrist@reddit
I’d expect at least £15 plus a full refund.
Mapleess@reddit
To give some insight, if the breading was somewhat crispy/cooked, then the issue was that the breast piece was still frozen. They came in frozen bags that would get defrosted overnight. If the cooks were running low, they’d run it under cold water and let it defrost.
If breading was undercooked as well, then they pulled it out the frier early or the temperature wasn’t right.
Rough-Sprinkles2343@reddit
I complained of having little sauce in my burger and they gave me 2 free burger vouchers.
That pink meat us disgusting
Gluebagger@reddit
Medium rare? Hmm an aristocrat!
Gullible-Yam-8098@reddit
I didn't put too much onions... ehhh... V-uh Paul.
RainbowPenguin1000@reddit
I’d take the £15.
I have better things to do with my life than argue with a fast food chicken takeaway.
EvilTaffyapple@reddit
What are you expecting?
nadthegoat@reddit
A refund would only apply to the burger itself, assuming the rest of the meal was fine.
£15 voucher for the trouble is good, take it and move on.
MoominMai@reddit
But it was only the burger that was the issue right? They’re not going to refund the cost of everything else you had as well lol. Maybe you’d have a case if something catastrophic happened like you got severe gastro issues and missed time off work resulting in loss of earnings or some such but otherwise I’d just take the voucher
these_metal_hands@reddit
I'd just take the £15 voucher, to be completely honest haha
MrBigJuicyArse@reddit
Go to the The Sun and sell your story. They love shit like this, and the masses lap it up.
You'll probably get more out of KFC if you make a show of them.
