Settle a debate - do the Stereophonics and the Killers sound similar or not?

To the point someone could consistently mistake a killers track for a stereophonics track and vice versa.

The Killers are also the most disappointing bands after such an amazing first album everything else was poor.
I had to throw Day and Age in the bin.

Not to me... but I feel like a lot of their own songs sound alike. I think it's because Kelly Jones and Brandon Flowers have such distinctive voices.

Given the choice of the two, I'd have Bartender And The Thief over Mr fucking Brightside all day long. Also didn't realise being a metalhead means I can't enjoy some of the music I remember listening to when I was young, but there we go. Every day's a school day I guess.

For one thing the Killers can be very synth-heavy, whereas I don't remember anything like that in a Stereophonics track.

Nope. They inherit the same broad musical universe, if you don't break it down very far, but I'd never mistake one band for the other.

No they don't sound similar to me, but I used to be a huge fan of the Killers when I was younger and have listened to pretty much all of their albums and they're all different, especially the first 3.
Hot Fuss is more New Wave orientated
Sams Town is more Heartland Rock
Day and Age is very Synth Pop
I've not really heard much by the Stereophonics but from what I have heard their closest song to the Killers is Dakota in my opinion.
