The only benefit is iron sight radius, but it's still a low velocity round with shit ammo quality (bUt lApUA!) so it's a minor but real improvement to an entirely pointless rifle.

Outside of 18” the velocity gain is extremely minimal. Even 16 to 18” hardly gets you 50 fps

Watch Dahlonega Armory and Good4Guns (I think they use the same dropshipper), the howa minis go on sale \~$100 off a couple times a year, I managed to get my 6 arc mini for $403 (+tax/ship) by just kinda checking them every now and then.

You have both the 6Arc and 6.5 grendel? Any preferences if so? And do you shoot suppressed?

I had a grendel and sold it, I still have the Arc. I shoot suppressed but just with a 30 cal can (Scythe Ti), nothing 6mm specific.
I don't love Grendel mostly because the PPC/Arc/Russian case capacity limits you on the projectile weight. With a 6.5 you really want to be shooting like 120-125 tops and most of the fancy stuff in 264 is focused on the 140 and up range right now. With the 6 arc, you can shoot literally anything that they make in a 243 bore at pretty acceptable speeds, 60-75 grain laser beam varmint stuff, 110 grain a tips, or my current favorites the 107 smk and the 90 btsp.
If I had it to do over I would get the 20" HB variant instead of the GamePro package I got that has a 22"(or is it 24"... I forget) pencil barrel.

Love my 6.5 Grendel besides the mags being elusive plastic crap. If you’re thinking about the 6.5G version, do it! Mine wears a CAT ODB and sounds/shoots great.

The mags are okay but only okay and spendy for just okay. If you’re wanting it to hunt with see if Jefferson State Outdoor blind or hinged mags, I think you get a little bit more coal and they’re slick. They used to have a cz 527 mags bottom metal but both the mags and the metal are unobtanium now.

Yeah I remember the Jefferson flush fit setups and the 527 bottom metal from when I was reading up on the minis a few years ago. I really wanted a mini action 223 trainer but it just seemed like a pain in the ass overall when a 223 short action works pretty well by comparison

This would be fun sub 300 yard plinker me thinks. My dad's 18" x39 PSA AR upper is pretty damn accurate for what it is. Sub 1" with handloads and suppresses fairly well

Very good price , but a hard sell unless you have a stockpile of 7.62x39 already. Even then not exactly the desired cartridge for most on this.

that's a great price for a good rifle (below distributor) , the caliber is dying and as the other poster mentioned 6.5G version is where it's at these days
