On the Today Show (4/23)

Today there were two fellow Gen-Xers, Justin Theroux and Noah Wyle who both turn out to be 54 (my age).
If Gen-X is 1965-1980, then the center of Gen-X is 1972. Totally random I know, but I like being at the center of the best and most-overlooked generation.
Anyways, shout out to our two fellow Gen-Xers that were on the Today show today.

I'm 1965 and when you say "Theroux" to me I think of Louis and Justin's father Paul.
one of the great travel writers and a prolific and fearless novelist.

Had to wait for my dad to get back from ‘Nam before I could be conceived…’71…

1971 was the best year to have ever been born, if you ask me. I turn fifty five later this year.

6-7, we are a meme now 😎

I mean, as a 1974 guy, it’s been the 1972 girls that have always caught my eyes!

72…. 6ft, 184, L, 32x32, third generation. Proud Gen X, and a God Damn American Classic!

I never really knew Noah Wyle's age. I had always assumed he was much younger than me, even when he was on ER. While watching The Pitt, I looked up something on IMDb and found out his age. He's barely two years younger. I had always associated him with being younger, not close to my age.

Opposite here. I always assumed he was older than me, but alas

It’s a game my wife and I play… how old do you think ______ is? We usually ask Alexa or Google it.

I'm also a 72er! Graduated HS in 1991 so yeah right there in the middle of everything. I see some people on the ends of our generation who sometimes don't get a reference of whatever but thats not my experience. I get almost all of em and I'm here for it!

46 more years and they will have their pictures on Smuckers jars.
1971 baby here, btw

lol

Fellow 72' here. My siblings are older GenX and my wife is younger GenX. I absolutely loved my childhood/HS/College experiences and wouldn't have chosen any other gen if I had the choice.
Eggsalad13@reddit (OP)
We did grow up in the best time.

1972 was also the lowest birthrate of any year prior to the baby boom and any year after. There are simply less of us 72 babies than anyone else.
Eggsalad13@reddit (OP)
Didn’t know that.

1972 was the BEST year, wasn't it? Especially July 1972.
trguiff@reddit
Im saying December 1972...LOL

Same here!

Not there for it, but inclined to agree based on what I've seen in the magazines. That whole summer and fall looked amazing.

'73 here, my boss '72 and it's funny/awesome how much we think alike as Gen Xers
temerairevm@reddit
Also 54, but ‘71 vintage. Not only are we the middle but we were the lowest birth rate years so it feels like everyone “about our age” is 5 years older or younger. I love it when I come across another 54 year old in the wild.
GoldenMonkeyRedux@reddit
Just about to turn 54 in a few days.
Check out the records that were released in '72. It's amazing.

Two of my favorites! '72 born here, 54 in July.
