Is driving to work the issue??
Otherwise is expect you back too, if you can sit and work at home you can do so in the office.
Your mistake has been working from home. Should have got the fit note to not work at all.
ConsciouslyIncomplet@reddit
I had knee surgery and was signed off for three months. I did not work at all for 3 months.
Speak To your Doctor.
Necessary-Humor-6005@reddit
You need to speak with HR, not the partner. The partner is irrelevant in this.
PhysTech9@reddit
I would have gotten the surgeon to sign me off until at least the knee brace is off. Not even to work from home.
TSC-99@reddit
Fuck that. Go on the sick. I wouldn’t even be WFH.
GFoxtrot@reddit
Presuming you work for a large organisation speak to HR as the partner is putting the company in potential hot water.
Ask to see a risk assessment from them too as presumably you’re on crutches.
Upstairs-Quail5709@reddit
Lucky you with that short a time frame. My meniscal tear was January last year (at work), half knee replacement, still off work.
Yours needs to repair fully, your health is the ONLY priority. You're already doing more than obligated by WFH so sod them pressuring you.
Your being in the office - how would you get there? Walk? Nope. Drive? Your Meds forbid it. Company insurance covers you if pressured (read "bullied" ) to go in? That's one for the company to advise (in writing).
sossighead@reddit
It’s unclear from your information if said partner is aware of your situation? She might not be, I would set it out clearly.
cobeats@reddit
Worth asking the company if their fire/health and safety protocols cover your restricted movement as it would be a liability.

I had a total knee replacement & I was advised to return to work after 3 months . I only need 2 months off , but had to get a fit to return work & occupational health had to make sure my office space was safe. I was given a 2 week sick note from the surgeon initially , then my doctor dealt with any notes from then on. Your employer shouldn’t be rushing you back to work , if you still need time off then take it . Remember if anything happens to you they’d replace you no matter how good an employer they are . Good luck & be safe !

Your surgeon will give you a fit note.
I had a knee operation in December and I'm only just starting to drive again.

I don't have advice but I tore a meniscus and the pain was worse than childbirth, just want to show some support.

Honestly, if i was told a 3 month recovery time I would be taking 3 months off work, resting and recuperating. I most certainly would not be doing anything to jeopardise my recovery, especially something like a knee operation.
I appreciate not everyone has paid sick leave to do this length of time. If that is the case I would have asked me Dr to sogn me off until I ran out of paid sick leave then ask for a fit not to work from home for the duration of my recovery.
As you have already set precedent by returning to work after only a week, unfortunately there isn't a lot you can do without having another episode of sickness. However if you are unfit to travel (which i suspect you are with the knee brack), sit for 7.5hrs in an office without icing and elevation, move safely around the office etc. Then you can't go back in.
I would contact your gp and get an fit not that states unfit to travel for 3 months. Contact your employers occupational health and discuss it with them. The like hood is they will agree that working from home is the safest thing to do.
No job is worth your health. Learn from the experience and next time (if there is a next time) take what is owed to you.
ShufflingToGlory@reddit
If you can make it into the office without too much pain or compromising your recovery then you might as well go in.
No point pissing off a partner unnecessarily. Assuming you have ambitions at the company.
nonoanddefinitelyno@reddit
My ambitions would be to find a different company with the barest amount of compassion and leave.
RainbowPenguin1000@reddit
First step is to make sure they’re full aware of your situation. They’re probably not.
Next I’d get a new GP note saying I was unable to travel to a place of work.
Alternatively I’d go in to the office for a day or two then claim it aggravated my knee and discomfort and take another week off sick, I doubt they will be rushing you back in to the office after that.
mu5tbetheone@reddit
Are you signed off by the GP as 'not fit to travel/ drive'? If so I'd make sure you send in your certificate and advise this Partner as such in professional and polite manner.
Banes_Addiction@reddit
Go in for 2 days, then get fully signed off for the rest of your recovery period and make it clear it's because you were asked to return too early.
Don't explicitly blame the partner, just give them enough information to blame themselves.
DameKumquat@reddit
How would you normally get to the office? If driving and you're not allowed, obviously you can't unless they'll pay for a cab. If you live next to a bus stop that takes you right to the office, then you'd need a reason why you couldn't walk that far.
MiddleAgedDread123@reddit
can you even get into the office?
