Is condensed hours only beneficial for those with kids?

At my workplace, the standard full time hour work frame is 35 hrs. You can start work from 8-10am and then finish accordingly from 4-6pm. There's an option for flexible working where you work 8am-6pm Mon-Weds, 9am-6pm Thurs then you have every Friday as a non-working day. So essentially a four day work week and three day weekend. Am I the only who thinks this is extremely long of a day. I feel like you'd just spend the Friday recovering anyway. I'm in my early 20s and you get two days wfh anyway so I'm not sure I see the incentive of this Does anyone work these condensed hours or similar and do you find it beneficial over the standard 5 day working week?
