Are we entering the ‘whycation’ era or is this just another travel trend?

Okay but hear me out!
vacations = vibes, pics, cocktails
whycations = “I need to disappear and come back as a new person”
I feel like more people are lowkey traveling for a reason now, not just because flights are cheap.
Like healing trips, solo resets, spiritual escapes, etc.
Is this actually a thing or just social media making everything sound deep? 😭

Not only is this a stupid question but the way it is phrased is very irritating
peppermint_aero@reddit
"ok hear me out!"
"Nobody's shutting you down?"

this is such a non-issue

What is an issue - is brands and companies taking up space on reddit, particularly more niche subs like this, so please do everyone a favour, lock your account and go away.
peppermint_aero@reddit
What, me finding your ridiculous social media phrasing annoying?
Idk, lowk sounds like gaslighting
BALLCLASH@reddit
something tells me they're about to reply with "😭"

Bad bot, get a real job like a vacuum or a lawn mower or something 😾🤖

I preferred pre-instagram days when we'd just take a couple of annual leave to relax after a long hard year of work.
Now everyone has to make out their 2 week annual leave is some life changing soul defining matrix revealing Indiana Jones styled adventure.
Dave, you're on the p!ss in Santorini, calm down ffs....
Choice-Demand-3884@reddit
This is one of the cringiest things I've seen in this sub.
And it's a very, very low bar.

I don't know, u/travel-center, but I'm sure you're going to take every opportunity in the comments to tell us about how you can help us book any kind of holiday we want 🙄

Yeah this is dumb. Whycation doesn’t even make sense.
People have been travelling for a myriad of reasons since the dawn of time. Why is this even a question?

"U/travrel-centre" hello corporate marketing robot pretending to be a human. Kindly fuck off please.

People have been going travelling to "find themselves" or "reset" for decades.
Fraggle_ninja@reddit
Sounds like more social media nonsense. A trip is a trip, a break is a break. The why and what isn’t really anyone else’s business but if someone feels the need to justify and Chase external validation non social media - whatever.
BeaumarchaisApu@reddit
Felt like a thing people did as a gap year when I was entering adulthood nearly 25 years ago so I doubt it’s a new thing.
AllThatIHaveDone@reddit
People have been travelling to find themselves for hundreds, if not thousands, of years.

The world is falling apart. People are needing a place to just go and decompress and disassociate from the bleak reality of every day life, which for a lot of us is a daily struggle emotionally, mentally, financially, etc etc etc. If we get the chance to step back and reset in any way possible in a beautiful place, we're going to do it.
Hope that helps.
Naive-Interaction567@reddit
Nobody in my (33F) actual life does this. I assume influencers do it because they have things to promote and need things to discuss but I’m not sure because i am trying hard to avoid the brain rot!
TomAtkinson3@reddit
You mean 'holidays'?
snittersnee@reddit
That just sounds like yankee influencer sadact jargon.
PorkAmbassador@reddit
I've not heard of this trend, but I'm not on FB, Insta, TikTok, etc. So yeah, I guess it might be a social media thing feeding your algorithm. Amongst my social circle, this isn't a thing.
