Kyle from InRange TV is still good, when he sticks to his lane.

I grew up around a lot of "fudds" you could say. That term is a bit overused. A good lever or bolt gun is just as fun on the range with no need to mag dump into trash.

With that being said, I also realize Karl has said a bunch of left leaning things that make him a bit of a pariah. He's still very knowledgeable, and probably has more time behind the trigger than most of his critics.

I do enjoy his videos on black power guns which are very much obsolete and not practical. It's a mix of "what worked then" vs "what works now". In no way am I advocating on banning AR-15s and having everyone go to lever guns.

In short, the video makes sense. If you want a fun lever gun/wheel gun experience today cheap and practically, get a .357 magnum/.38 special. For a less authentic experience but still close, .45 Long Colt. For the ultimate cowboy experience if you want to deal with the headache, .44-40. It was what was practical at the time, but it isn't 1875.
