e-bike from my employer because I am obviously fat – which to buy?

Hi! My boss thinks I am fat and I should get in shape but the distance is too far so he will get me an e-bike. I weigh around 95 kg, work in Austria/EU. max budget is 1.200, which would you suggest? I don't go offroad a lot (yet) but as soon as I lose weight maybe that would be an option. Thanks!
chuckwolf@reddit
95 kg isn't fat unless you're a 5'4" woman, for a 5' 9+ man it's average weight
lok_8@reddit
It's well in the obese territory
chuckwolf@reddit
209 lbs is not obese...
Bored2001@reddit
5 9 and 209 is considered obese BMI. Upper end of 'helathy' BMI is 168.9lb.

They are in Austria. Not America.

maybe get a bike instead tubby
J_Bunt@reddit
They said the distance is too long for a normal bike, and fat shaming says more about your character than it does about OP.
ScoobyDooItInTheButt@reddit
You're worried about a redditor doing the fat shaming? I'm honestly surprised that no one is questioning the boss's actions in here.
EsperandoVida@reddit
That was my first thought lol, I was surprised to the see comments praising the boss.
iwantfatty@reddit
i was joking, look at the title of the OP
EsperandoVida@reddit
What kind of job do you have?
Fair-Discipline-1005@reddit
Fat tyres bike...
Tabbbinski@reddit
Pretty nice of the boss to invest in you like that...

I don't have a recommendation for you, but damn! What an awesome boss. It's a hard thing to tell someone they're overweight without causing offense, but they obviously care about your health and are willing to help.
Acsteffy@reddit
Using an e-boke for transportation is still vastly better for your health than driving. No need to go for the more difficult thing that makes you sweaty when you get to the office.
Motion is lotion and heart rate still increases.
DrFabulous0@reddit
I'm well aware, I have both. I think you may have replied to the wrong comment though.
Acsteffy@reddit
Sure did... lol, my bad

I don't know the exact model for you but if you want exercise also then check ebikes with torque sensor and not the cadence ones.
Revolutionary-Half-3@reddit
I have a cadence sensor bike, and wish it was easy to upgrade to torque. It's not hard to adjust speed limits to allow me to do more of the work, but a torque sensor would make it basically invisible to the user.

Ebike brands vary by region. It's best to go to a bike shop to see what they have available and see if you can test drive. Also on top of your employer payment it looks like Austria has a government subsidy so you might be able to increase your budget
HerrFerret@reddit
How far is 'too far?'
Sometimes short term pain is worth long term gain, and an eBike won't help you the same a normal one will.

You mentioned Austria. The first question is the alps or lowlands?
The Alps require mountain bikes, even if you never leave the road ( and use it with road tires) the low gear ratios and the stronger brakes are still a thing. Also if you want to dual use it (commuting and recreational) off road, I recomend a light trail mountain bike (formerly known as Cross country)
If you don't plan any off road or hill climb but you would like some long trips I recommend a gravel Ebike. More sturdy than a road bike, faster than a mountain bike, and more fun than a city bike.
If you don't plan any trips, recreational rides and your only possible extra excercises is getting groceries, I recommend a city bike. Cheap, pragmatic, but too boing for my personal taste. But hey, we are all different and you might need exactly this.
