I'm getting 80 Celsius on my RTX 3080 Ti that I bought used for around 450Usd

Short story, I upgraded from 3060 Ti to MSI rtx 3080 Ti Ventus 3x for 450usd (RM1900). However I can see that the temp is slightly high around 78-80 celsius, I've checked that it is normal for 3080 ti card but ive seen on other's PC that they managed to get it at around 70-73 celsius only. I've added fans (3 exhaust, 2 intakes) for better airflow but seems it didn't do much for the card. Am I overthinking about the airflow and the temp and should just be okay with it?

Thats normal

80 isnt bad. The 3080ti can push like 450 watts and was a generation before they started to strap on gigantic coolers to cards.

I had the same issue with my old 3080Ti EVGA FTW3 Ultra even after repasting. I undervolted it and it then worked way cooler at almost no cost to performance. One of the reasons I sold it and got a 5070ti... its a freaking heater of a card that pulls 400-450w, its noisy and I can only imagine how bad the lower end models are.

Drivers up to date and power cord connected properly?

80C isn't that bad. U can try power reduction/undervolting.. or use V-sync and cap FPS at lower value and that should keep it in the 60s to low 70s. 3080 TI takes a lot more power compared to 3060 TI.

80 Celsius while gaming is completely normal

I don’t know why,but I have had the same temp on every Nvidia card I have ever had, whether it’s new or used

Open it clean GPU radiator with think brush any clogged dust also fans on both sides and change thermal paste. Be gentle opening GPU.

Undervolt and oc the gpu
Aleksanterinleivos@reddit
You should undervolt the card. Lower temps and power draw for same or even better performance depending on how you set it up.
Unreal_Crafter@reddit
The temperature depends on many things. Turn on your AC, a few degrees drop in room temperature and your GPU will sit around 70°C.

Card itself is fine, throttle temp should be 84c IIRC. Could probably do with a re-paste, it’s old enough to call for one. Could also be completely OK, but you have a higher than average ambient temp, your case itself doesn’t flow enough air, your 3080ti model has a shittier cooler, or your fan curves are less aggressive. You can’t really compare your temps to others unless all the variables are the same: ambient, case, fans, fan curves, exact GPU model.
DZCreeper@reddit
Fan count is not a metric of airflow, the panel design of your case matters more.
Ambient temp also plays a role. A lot of reviewers test at 20C, if your air is warmer the load temps will also be higher.

the ventus isn't a great cooler but this is an okay temperature. if you're that worried, you can buy a ptm sheet and slap it onto the gpu die but be prepared with what comes with disassembling the gpu which can include breaking components, ripping thermal pads that you have to replace and so on.
gounatos@reddit
Probably needs a repaste or even better PTM, but 80 isn't that bad tbh.
