Why I can use gpt 5.4 or 5.3-codex in codex cli as a free plan

Few days ago I can not use the better than 5.2, but thisdays it seems that changed. LOL, I feel so happy to use them, because that today's coding plan is more and more expensive for a non professional user

OpenAI is being weirdly generous on the free tier right now. I went the other direction yesterday and paid the full $200 ChatGPT Pro after two months on Claude Max only, mostly because Opus 4.7 quotas got brutal for my setup (about 10-15 percent of weekly cap on a normal day). Codex feels rougher around the edges but 5.3-codex one-shotted a refactor that 4.7 spent 6 turns on.
