What parts need upgrading the most?

Built my computer in mid-2018, and it's definitely starting to show its age. Doing an internship over the summer, and will have a bit of extra money that might be worth using. Is there anything worth keeping, or should I just start fresh? I'd like to stay around $ 1,500 – $2,000, so starting fresh might have to wait. From my research, the power supply, CPU cooler, and storage are fine. I would probably prefer a smaller case to the one I have now because moving the current one is a bit of a pain. So that means getting a micro-ATX board, but I wonder if AM5 is worth the upgrade, or should I just stick to my AM4 board? As well as DDR5 vs DDR4. I know RAM prices are crazy right now, so I might just stick with what I got for the time being. I'm in college, so I use my computer for a lot of work. Because of that, I don't game as much as I used to, but when I do, the computer does start to struggle. The two most intensive games I play are probably BeamNG. drive and X-Plane 11/12. Also, I will note that I don't care about RGB as much as I used to. (It's kind of a pain to sync up.) I know it can be a bit cheaper to go the non-RGB route. Let me know what you think. Thanks!

a cpu and gpu upgrade are enough for you. may i suggest 5600x and 9060xt 16gb?

Thanks for the suggestion. Looked into it. 9060xt is definitely one of my top picks right now. As far as CPUs go, would a Ryzen 7 5800XT be significantly better? Seems like they range in price slightly more than the 5600x. I don't know if the 2 extra cores are worth it. Or if its just overkill.

If you can get 5800xt then get it. 5600x in my experience usually more abundance so you can easily grab one used, but if these 2 are similar in price, I don't see why you shouldn't pay a bit extra for 2 more cores.
