I just wanted to thank you guys!

Recently, I asked between four GPU's which I should choose to upgrade from my 5060 Ti. It was between the 7900 XTX, 9070XT, 5070 Ti, and 5080. Most of you recommended the 5080, so I went with it. I gotta say, running Crimson Desert at max settings, at 5120x1440, 32:9, is the gaming experience I've dreamt of for years, and until now, never got to experience. You guys gave me great advice, and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Genuinely, thank you all!
AdstaOCE@reddit
yikes. 5080 is 15% better than the 5070TI or 9070XT for a whole bunch more money, quite often double the 9070XT in price.
Powerful-Ad2869@reddit
this is my Personal take, but i’d get the 5080 too, yea its a bad value card(more or less). But the existence of the 9070XT makes the 5070ti look like a joke(yea i said it), especially when it costs 200$+ on MOST countries and their gap is still minimal to justify the price.
Lil_Hater112@reddit
The joke is 9070xt cant play the same settings crimson desert like 5070ti bcs fsr and fg look like shit😂😂 while people think it doesnt matter, it matters to my eyes. Let me know if u can play fluid x3 fg 4k perf all max Crimson Desert with 9070xt ar 120 fps that actually look good and not trash.
Ooh, u cant, thats why nvidia costs more than amd
Powerful-Ad2869@reddit
Yeah 4K max settings at 120fps with DLSS Frame Gen a.k.a Fake Frames🤣🤣
Go play elden ring or any face paced games with that i dare u🤣🤣🤣🤣
paying 200$+ for so little improvement over the 9070XT
only advantage really is the Path tracing/Ray Tracing and DLSS supported on more titles, not worth the extra 200$+
Lil_Hater112@reddit
Not knowing the “ green “ side is fine, claiming “fake frames are shit in certain games like online fast paced shooter” is also fine, but claiming fake frames are shit in any game while I play the game with said “fake frames “ and the game feels MUCH better than withour them is just pure ignorance that will make othee people buy into shitty AMD software.
Powerful-Ad2869@reddit
and you do know that Nvidia’s advantage only really shines at 4K right? Not even 5% of total gamers play at 4K. Thats why AMD has been relevant for this long even tho they are obviously the inferior brand with way less market share. And i wouldnt say AMD is complete shit either , thats just plain ignorance as well.
https://youtu.be/uDligqbbPGs?si=dQZQX5MbnCQVc4tj
check this out and you’ll find out exactly why the 9070XT is a dirext competitor especially when it costs 200$ less on average in most countries. Its a competitor not brcause of performance but because of Value
Lil_Hater112@reddit
😭😭😭 i dont need to check out youtube, I checked out in real life . Everytime AMD glazers try to argue with, they totally ignore when I say i tested both sides and can easily see how shit AMD is.
Every. Single. Time
Powerful-Ad2869@reddit
Then by your logic AMD shouldve died a long long time ago, but they didnt, if thats not “relevant” idk what is
If u think a 5070ti is worth 200$ more, thats also exactly the reason why i made my first comment in the first place.
I would not pay 200$ more for a 5070ti, i would also not get the 9070XT either
Instead, i would wait a little more, save a little more, and get the 5080
Lil_Hater112@reddit
Their revenue is 3.9b from GPUs while total revenue is 35b. Thats like 9%.
Saying 5080 worth more than 5070ti while claiming 200$ isnt worrh more for 5070ti ovee 9070xt is pure ignorance.
U get a WHOLE 15-20% for like 400-500$ from 5080 over 5070ti, while the jump in software of the 5070ti over 9070xt is definitely worth a lot more for 200$ than 400-500$ for 15-20%
Again, ignorance
Powerful-Ad2869@reddit
Their revenue is small as fck, yes but the point is they didnt die, somehow they find a way to stay without dying with whatever they have
Yea the 5080 is probably the worst value card in the 5000series But The gap between the 5070ti and 9070XT is still smaller for 200$. If this wasnt the case, then the whole gaming community wouldnt have an endless arguement about it, the native performance between the 9070xt and the 5070ti is similar to the point you wont notice shit. The native performance between the 5070ti and the 5080 is like what? 15% ? Thats also without any Nvidia features.
Lets just agree to disagree, You think im an idiot for wanting to pay extra for the 5080 over the 5070ti,which i understand but at least ill get out the loop of “5070ti vs 9070XT”
And i think likewise about you for wanting to pay 200$ more for a 5070ti over a 9070XT
Have a lovely day
Lil_Hater112@reddit
I can see the gaming community arguments everytime on Reddit: fake frames shit, FSR just as good😂
Anyone who uses 5070ti at maximum and then tries the exact same games with 9070xt and tries to suck everything out of it will have same conclusion: FG is complete shit and DLSS much better.
Andrew_Saint@reddit
Name checks out
AdstaOCE@reddit
5080 is 15% faster than either for at least 20% higher than 5070TI, almost double if not double the 9070XT.
Enough-Afternoon8011@reddit (OP)
I was able to snag one for about 1200. Most 5070 ti's are about 200 less, from what I was able to gather.
AdstaOCE@reddit
9070XT is low 700s, 15% for $500 is no where near worth it. Even at 1200/1000 that's 20% more money for 15% more performance and no other benefits.
AlBoBagginz@reddit
Nowhere near worth it TO you.
Andrew_Saint@reddit
Should be "Nowhere near worth it to YOU"
AdstaOCE@reddit
Nowhere near worth it objectively. It's math, especially compared to the 5070TI that has no disadvantages other than base performance (and dual decode).
AlBoBagginz@reddit
Disagree. If I can afford it and it gives me more performance than the tier below then it's worth it. Enjoy your 5080 dude.
AdstaOCE@reddit
You're disagreeing with something objective. You can say you don't care about it, but objectively the 5070TI or 9070XT are the better choices.
fanglord@reddit
But everything in life is about min maxing or choosing the best value option. Just let people enjoying things.
Lil_Hater112@reddit
Bro, fg and fsr is shit on 9070xt , stop recommending amd shit
MultiMarcus@reddit
Yeah, but it can also do path tracing which the 9070 XT falls apart with. Generally speaking, you can always make a cheaper choice and get a majority of the performance. That’s always been how the gaming market worked and it gets more and more into diminishing returns the more expensive you get. Put on the performance for dollar level but also see visuals Per dollar.
AdstaOCE@reddit
Ignoring the 5070TI in that comment?
MultiMarcus@reddit
Which basically has the same price difference versus the 5080 as when it came out. The 9070 XT has stayed at a lower price while the 5070 TI and the 5080 have massively shot up but if you were willing to justify the 5080 in the past over the 5070 TI, they’ve not really shifted that much in relation to one another.
The 5080 is not massively more powerful by any means, but it is a bit more powerful for a bit more money.
AdstaOCE@reddit
15% for a lot more than 15% more money, if we go by cheapest US prices (on pcpartpicker) it's a 31.5% price gap.
MultiMarcus@reddit
Yeah, that’s the diminishing returns we were talking about. The 5080 is a more powerful card 15% isn’t nothing and if you have the money to buy it which this person clearly does it’s not a bad purchase.
It’s also more likely to be on par with the next generation console instead of being roughly 20% weaker as it is the case with the 5070 ti.
But fundamentally, if you really want to save the money, get the 9070 XT. If you want a more premium experience and have the money to spend for it both the 5070 TI and 5080 are great options. Everyone was looking for the optimal price to performance ratio. AMD would be a much bigger player than they currently are.
Ridgeyyy@reddit
No shot next consoles beat a 5070 ti
MultiMarcus@reddit
The rumour is that the Xbox helix using the Magnus APU is roughly 5080 level performance. Doesn’t sound crazy to me if it’s going for $1200 and it’s a huge APU. We all know Nvidia has basically obscene profit margins on these graphics cards and if Microsoft is cutting into some of that to make their console more attractive that doesn’t seem ridiculous.
Ridgeyyy@reddit
So you think consoles will go from upscaled 1080p machines currently, to legitimate 4k options moving forward? Im using a 5070 ti on a 5120x1440p monitor getting 150+ FPS qith better graphic settings. I highly doubt the PS6 will be doing that.
MultiMarcus@reddit
Yeah I think they will. The rumour for the PS6 is a bit more modest because Sony is likely to want to keep prices down a bit more than Microsoft and there the ambition seems to be roughly 4070 TI with more ram and obviously upgraded stuff like multi frame generation and all of the ML suite of RDNA 5.
If you look at the start of this console generation the PS5 was delivering a lot of games at 4K 60 or like close to it at the very least. PS6 will almost certainly basically be more like a PS5 pro pro for a while where it doesn’t really have many exclusive games but it allows you to play your older games higher resolutions and higher frame rates with better image quality thanks to AI upscaling. I think we’ll also start to see path tracing in some form available on these devices possibly with more upscaling than we would like but definitely available.
I think we’ll be unlikely to see 150 FPS on the consoles I think they’ll be targeting 120 just because that’s what TVs go up to. I don’t think you should be overestimating your own hardware though the 5070 TI is a great piece of kit but it’s not insanely more powerful than what a next generation console would be. Generally, the consoles are basically like the xx70 class cards. Like the PS5 was very similar to the 2070 or the 3060 TI. The PS5 pro was quite similar to the 4070 though the 4070 was better in a lot of ways. Microsoft seems to be targeting more premium experience so it’s not crazy for that to be roughly the 5080 especially considering how small the difference is between the 5080 and the 5070 TI. Meanwhile, Sony is a bit less ambitious in order to keep costs down.
necrosis_vanadiel@reddit
4K 60FPS with some HUGE draw backs compared to DLSS will require a very significant leap. If you can get the equivalent of a 5080 for only 1.2k dollars MS will have to be operating at a large loss to get those things on shelves, which is only made harder as AI data centres continue to expand.
MultiMarcus@reddit
Sorry, which are those huge drawbacks? They will not be operating at a large loss. The reality is that Nvidia is operating at a huge profit.
necrosis_vanadiel@reddit
Pairing a 5080 with a decent CPU, DDR5 RAM and what I assume will be a bespoke designed case to house the system will certainly be more 1.2k dollars. If you try to argue that’s not the case then I don’t understand where you get that data from to suggest this. MS or Sony cannot put that all in a system for one price at that low of a cost, it’s just not possible. My point is not relevant to NVIDIA stand alone cars because that’s an entirely different discussion. I’m trying to focus on the price to performance possibilities for new consoles and what is realistic.
MultiMarcus@reddit
Except you’re thinking of this like a user built PC.
This is going to be a single APU with soldered ram probably in the 48 gigs range that will then be split between vram and system ram.
This is not going to be someone just picking up a 10070XT and plopping it into a box with a 10800x3D and 32 gigs of ddr5.
I am reporting based on the rumors which may or may not be true.
necrosis_vanadiel@reddit
48gigs of RAM in this climate? No chance.
MultiMarcus@reddit
Personally, I’m also sceptical of the $1200 price point. Are you able to get 128 gigs of RAM for like $2000 in the strix halo chips still.
necrosis_vanadiel@reddit
My only knowledge gap potentially here is how the cost of soldering RAM (which is already expensive) changes when using an APU versus a system using individual components like a traditional PC. I assume it’s lower, but the current climate will still make it very expensive I’m sure.
bf2reddevil@reddit
Rumours are that the PS6 and new Xbox will have similar performances to the range of 5080-5090. They surely will beat the 5070ti.
necrosis_vanadiel@reddit
I highly highly doubt the new Xbox will compete with a 5070TI, especially when you should certainly pairing any of these cards with a pretty beefy CPU.
MultiMarcus@reddit
Look, I don’t know this. This is based on the leaks we have, but they say 5080 level GPU performance for the Xbox helix. As for a beefy CPU sure maybe the helix will be worse than something like a 9800x3D especially considering the price of cache, but for path tracing workload you will very rarely be CPU bound even though path tracing does require a reasonably BC CPU I wouldn’t be too worried about that.
necrosis_vanadiel@reddit
Path tracing is more GPU bound no doubt, but having a 5080 without a similarly power CPU and decent RAM makes little sense. That’s why I think that Microsoft getting anywhere near the performance of a PC which carries a higher level of cost is not feasible. My PC with is a 5070TI and 9800X3D was done for like 2k last year before the RAM crisis, which of course beats any console, and I would expect that to easily continue into the next console generation. And suggesting a console manufacturer to get close to the performance of machines like this a 1.2k is not possible.
SwingThatHammer@reddit
Enjoy it! Glad you’re happy, that’s what matters.
Seeing what’s getting upvoted and downvoted on this post is such a fascinating look at this sub and why it’s equally incredibly helpful and incredibly infuriating lol
PressureConscious365@reddit
Great choice man! Enjoy Crimson Desert and happy gaming! 🎮🎮🎮
Opening_Evidence6360@reddit
Honestly a 9070 XT or a 5070 Ti/80 would of all felt like a huge jump up! I just wish the software would be a bit nicer on the AMD side. It feels clunky compared to nvidia's software.
Congrats! Happy Gaming!
Shhh-it-Bruh@reddit
Ur welcome!!!, lol didn't advise u on anything but I think u made the best choice. As long as u didn't sell a kidney and could afford all ur other bills then ignore anyone that might tell u that u paid too much or some other bullsh!t like that. Enjoy!!!
Enough-Afternoon8011@reddit (OP)
I love your input! Life is too short, and luckily, I didn't screw myself over on bills. Gotta enjoy it while we live! After all, none of us are guarenteed tomorrow right?
Shhh-it-Bruh@reddit
Nope we are not, ur 100% right.

great choice. will last you years. will be rocking my 4070tiS for a long time
