Someone just questioned if I *really* collect *classic* computers and they showed me an image of an 486DX2. Kids these days ... Video was taken literally 10 mins ago.

They really did a lot with the pc speaker on those old sierra games.
CheshKC@reddit
How dare you, this a lucasarts game - a far superior level of adventure game to a Sierra title!

My retro PC is a much newer one, Athlon 64 dual core build that turned out as a 2005 PC.
Yours is vintage even compared to mine haha.

i don't get your point but this brings back memories! played it in black&white on 5" floppies on a 8086 with no hard disk

What did you play
mr_dfuse2@reddit

Using an arcade converter to get TTL to VGA. Sorry, the oldest monitor that I have on hand.

Playing devil's advocate here: "Nuh uH ThAts AI BrO!" 😂
But seriously nice system!

Thanks! BTW, that little white box under the right side of the monitor is a WIFI adapter for the Tandy 1000SX. It's basically an ESP32 with a logic level adjustment circuit and a custom firmware, which was based on a similar project for the Commodore 64. It simulates a dial-up modem (in SLIP mode) and even lets me run an FTP server on the Tandy to copy files via WIFI to the system. Only problem is that the serial port on the Tandy is dog-slow.
Accurate-Campaign821@reddit
Haha yea bet that is a pretty slow connection, but at least somewhat reliable
mr_thwibble@reddit
Thats the second best DX2 I've seen today!

The first computer I owned with a SVGA (color) display was a Packard Bell 486DX2. Prior to that it was an 8086 with an amber/monochrome display.

Tandy 1000?
Sounds just like running monkey island on my PCJr (no surprise there of course). Not that monkey island runs particularly well on it, even with an overclock
jet_heller@reddit
Yup! That was our family first computer in the early mid 80s.
