Taking ATP-CTP Twice

Hello all, I have a bit of a weird question. I am getting ready to pursue my first type rating and have been given a date for ATP-CTP, however, I already took it independently some years ago but didn’t have the time to get the written done. I am considering taking it again as I feel it would be a nice refresher and some time in an FFS to get ready for my class date which begins just a few days later. What are the communities thoughts on this? The airline told me they don’t care as long as they get a certificate of completion one way or another.

If you have taken it once and have the certificate in hand, would you repeat Algebra? It’s a $3000 + class in most programs.

As a clarification the company is paying for this not me

You’ll most likely pay the taxes on it at least.

It doesn't matter....you already have the certificate and didn't even take the test the first time. Why would you need to sit through the course again? You literally only do this to get the cert and qualify the written.

If you're asking if it's solid advice to spend another 4500 dollars to have an 80 year old dude tell war stories about his golden years at Continental and play around in the box for ten hours, then no.....that's a terrible idea. Spend 45 dollars, get Sheppard Air, go take the written and be done.

If you can take the written just study up and take the written. Sure you aren’t paying for it, but there’s no reason to just light money on fire imo

I can’t imagine spending all that time in a classroom just so you can get a few unproductive hours in a FFS that you don’t know how to fly, in a model you may never touch again. If I was hiring you I’d think you were a psychopath but you do you lol.

Oh hell no. If you have the certificate of completion and can still take the written, or have already taken it and still valid, don’t subject yourself to that hell again. The only good thing is that if it’s at a place like FSI you may get to fly a sim you probably won’t get to fly in real life

ATP/ctp is a waste. Except in the type you’ll actually be flying in. But that isn’t a guarantee.

I must be missing out on something. I didn't do the course so I don't whats all involved but I've heard it's the most boring and useless 4 days or whatever it was. You're telling me you want to go do it again just for a refresher. You'll get plenty of time in the sim during your career.
YugeWaterBottle@reddit
Absolutely not. If you already have the certificate in hand, it's a total waste of time.
trustpilots@reddit
What about rippin the Airbus sim into TEX? Worth it.
RaptorO-1@reddit
Which airline pays for your atp-ctp?
Attackpilsung@reddit
Company paying for it? Why not? Nothing wrong with more sim time. Do it.
80sBushh@reddit
I absolutely would not take it again even with the company paying for it. Spend that time studying Sheppard Air, much better use of your time.
SATSewerTube@reddit
ATP-CTP is a waste of time especially if doing it twice.
Sheppard Air (verb) the written.

If you have the completion cert and are still within the time frame to take the written (or already have) this would be the most blatant waste of several thousand dollars I could possibly imagine.

As a clarification the company is paying for this not me
Flimsy-Ad-858@reddit
Oh okay that's less insane then.
50/50 in that case. Is it a waste of time? Yeah probably. Would it hurt? No.
