Someone earlier tonight asked if Fight Club still holds up.

It inspired me to watch it with my teens (13 and 16) and they loved it. Had lots of good questions and really enjoyed it. So yes, I would say it still holds up.
Ray_The_Engineer@reddit
Yep, this is one of the good ones!
Lower_Group_1171@reddit
Ive seen plenty of genxers with moobs
grimsnap@reddit
It holds up as a work of satire. Unfortunately, that went over the heads of "Sigma" bros who embraced Tyler Durden (and Patrick Bateman).
Continuum_Design@reddit
Yes it does. For this grouchy Gen X anyhow. The idea of men so lacking in direction or purpose that they start to partake in unsanctioned violence sounds far fetched but it’s really not. Men who grew up without a healthy male role model or two can lack assertiveness and other positive masculine attributes. This franchise examines that thesis, taken to its worst end.

I'm sorry but am I the only one that thought instantly of this movie when all the current young dude bros started running around with lumberjack beards and wearing those Patagonia vests packed with leaded weights while drinking "mud" competing in weekend Spartans and fawning at Marcus Aurelius and Patrick Bateman as if they were some cosmopolitan Buddahs...
If ever there was a generation of needy man boys looking to affirm they are men because thay have a real.identity crisis in their lives ...
Its been this last generation of 20 and 30 year olds
RogerMurdockCo-Pilot@reddit
Sir, the first rule of Project Mayhem is you do not ask questions
spoink74@reddit
I still don’t think Marla exists.
ranoutofbacon@reddit
especially after saying she and Tyler were never in the same room together
InfernalTest@reddit
She was remarking that the Narrator and Tyler are never in the same room
Top-Scarcity5937@reddit
It's jammed full of jokes you're not supposed to laugh at, which - IMO - is very Gen X. Or maybe it's just me.
"I want bowel cancer !"
The film splicing.
The food service terrorism.
The sickle cell group hug.
"This chick Marla Singer did not have testicular cancer."
Is that sort of funny still acceptable anywhere ?
I'm glad that it seems safe from becoming a remake.
SubstanceNo1544@reddit
This person gets it
Lanky_Comedian_3942@reddit
" I haven't been fucked like that since grade- school. "
Top-Scarcity5937@reddit
Homes, that was chosen to replace the original line from the book, which the filmmakers considered to be out of bounds. It was: "I want to have your abortion."
just_some_chic@reddit
What's Fight Club? 🤔
TheOsirisOfThisShit_@reddit
It's obviously a classic movie. But the idea of destroying financial records by leveling some office buildings was dumb in 1999 and really dumb now.
Trick-Molasses-1480@reddit
We don't talk about the flight club
Top_Management7550@reddit
That is one rule
Fishyprediction@reddit
Thought we weren’t supposed to be talking about this!!!
Weekly-Batman@reddit
Wow watched it with my 16 year old and it def did not, especially when the ‘Fight Club’ shows up. It is stupid
Ok_Industry3016@reddit
One of the best of all time. Like what?
one_bean_hahahaha@reddit
As a satire of toxic masculinity, more than ever.
Fit-Reality-2872@reddit
I always though it was dumb. I didn’t get it
hesathomes@reddit
I’ve never seen it.
Fit-Reality-2872@reddit
Don’t waste your time
JayRexx@reddit
I have a 15yo--thanks for the heads up!

You broke the rule
dvidthefinisher@reddit
What rule?
Icy-Bar-9712@reddit
WE. DON'T. TALK. ABOUT. FIGHT. CLUB!
dvidthefinisher@reddit
FAIL
aumiket@reddit
My 20 year-old loves it.
Blue_Henri@reddit
What were their questions? Those always make me smile.
unloosedcoin@reddit
Fight club 2 is a graphic novel. No rules about talking about fight club 2, right?
the_answer_is_RUSH@reddit
I don’t know if I want to laugh along with my kids to the line “I haven’t been fucked like that since grade school.”
TRS80487@reddit
Now get them to read the book. It’s great.
wolfwinner@reddit
