They really sucked ass but were super popular. I remember Nookie playing on TRL every day for months and bitch Durst bastardizing Faith and Behind Blue Eyes
Hahaha yeah this is perfect . My husband was saying he wanted to buy an electric chainsaw for me and i said i was going to sing “a mother fucking chainsaw “ every time i used it and he just groaned
We were the perfect impressionable age for Limp Bizkit. When you're late teens-early 20s, their aggression and dgaf attitude seems badass. After about 25, you realize they're dumbasses.
the backwards part? or the red part? I think dude's comment is regarding a certain group right now that are identified by their brown shirts err.... red hats.
Summer Sanitarium tour, Mudvayne, Deftones, Linkin Park, Limp Biscut, and Metallica. Saw 2 shows that summer, both pretty good shows. I remember Durst doing a cover of Behind Blue Eyes.
Ahhh the bizkit... What sucked was the majority of their albums had 2 or 3 good songs, the radio releases, so you'd buy the album expecting it to be good and be disappointed by the rest.
Thankfully this was about the same time Napster released, so ripping mixed cd's helped weed out the other crap.
yeah, I mean RATM were the ONLY band to ever pull off rap/rock that wasn't corny as shit IMO. I don't know how you can listen to Durst rap and think "Yeah... now THAT is cool" unless you've literally never heard good hiphop before. My gold standard of rap is THIS and Durst sounds like a bratty rich kid pretending to be tough guy.
That was my introduction to them. Saw some live performance on Mtv of them performing Faith and laughed the entire goddamn time and had to find out more. Just a fun band.
It’s crazy and not surprising that this band performed at the catastrophe of Woodstock 99. I never really like them as I was more into Rage and Metallica and linkin park.
One of my best friends growing up was a little older than me looked very similar to him same age, wore the red hat same facial hair and dressed like him and was swarmed when we went out in 1999-2000.
Fuck yeah I listened to that garbage. I still put it on for fun. Is Fred Durst a greaseball? Yeah he sucks. Is the band trashy? Also yes. But it's okay that not every single thing I listen to is carefully crafted fart smelling art.
It would have been the video director, the artists rarely had much to do with their own videos. Typically pop stars and knuckle draggers like Durst would just say "make me look cool", and that was half the job.
I can’t stand this band and could never figure out why any pop stars wanted to roll around with Fred Durst. He’s got the sex appeal and charisma of a wet paper bag.
Limp Bizkit was ok back in the day and there are so many better bands from this era.
I saw Limp Bizkit live in Auckland at the Big Day Out music festival around 2001. They did great. Biggest complaint is people dieing and getting injured in crowd swings. We had a gril and guy under me who broke ribs and arms. In their next show in Sydney a 15yo died of suffocation.
I enjoyed 3$BY as an angsty 13-14 year old, stopped listening to them shortly after. I remember liking the bass line in one of the singles on the following record but thinking that it was pretty meh as a whole. Wes Borland was a pretty kick ass guitar player though.
Absolutely not. I couldn't stand them, or Rage Against the Macine. Something about their sounds just... ugh. I listened to plenty others in the genre though.
I love System of a Down, Audioslave, Soundgarden, Linkin Park, Korn, and other similar sounds.
My comeuppance seems to be a lot different. None of this stuff. Way more punk. Fugazi, Mr. Bungle, NoFX, Warlock Pinchcers. I guess I wasn't into 90's bro music?
Being in Jacksonville in the 90s, I might have been more partial to them than I otherwise would have been if I lived elsewhere. I didn’t really listen beyond the first two albums, but those first two were definitely in my rotation.

They were not a good band but something about unbridled rage at anything and everything was weirdly appealing - like there was no message or direction in the rage it was just “F you!!!! Yeah!!!!!”
My best friend and I recorded a music video to this song when we were kids. We had no idea what the song was about, but the end result was cookie crumbs all over her bedroom and living room floors.
Yeah I really did like that one and played it a lot. I got many of my friends into that album too but I hated the follow up. It’s like they took all the parts I liked and removed it (screaming, cool distortion, the production) and emphasized the shitty angry white guy rap and made the music more “accessible”.
Very few will admit to liking them. But gosh they sold a lot of CDs to someone (hint to people who later realized they were cringe). Yes, I listened to the single. So did everyone else and then we all spent in the 2010s pretending we didn’t.

That’s the one. Saw it at the Metrodome in Minneapolis. Not a great venue for music quality.
I didn’t think there was any way that they’d be able to follow Linkin Park because of how much energy they had, but they pulled it off.
Don’t remember any covers. I remember that they made a corridor through the fans on the floor and he ran out through them.
