It gets even worse when you are in a series where it is real, and people still don't believe in it. The Netflix Castlevania series comes to mind, the entire plot is set off because a woman, in a world where God is verifiable, says to a Bishop, "I don't believe in fake things like God and the Devil, I am a scientist, I believe in REAL things...like Dracula!"
No. Usually there are conditions and/or an alternate "Hell" afterlife too and it's not like people know for sure which one they're going to or they assume they're going to the "hell" afterlife.

Is this about a media trope or is he trying to say an afterlife is confirmed in real life?
SpaceBug176@reddit
Living under a rock, buddy? How did you miss that whole "Jesus coming back" thing 6 days ago?
OnMy4thAccount@reddit
I guess I miss when it was "confirmed"

Death is inherently alarming to most people even if they think there's something beyond it. Simple as.
RatOgryn@reddit
This man gets it. Regardless of how we rationalize life or death, it is a completely natural fear for a living being to die.
SpaceBug176@reddit
This man doesn't get it. We're alarmed because we merely assume afterlife exists. There's no evidence aside from "trust me bro".

What makes death scary to me is that I have no way of knowing what comes after.

If you love someone the concept of being away from them for the rest of your life is still a bit of a bummer.
"Aw snap. Well, see you in about 50 years" walks away whistling

I myself have this out look on life and afterlife, but I don't mind if other people mourn. It's just my autistic brain having little emotions.
