MOVE TO THE FUCKING SHOULDER
brownbeandave@reddit
People don’t know how to drive in general. I used to do a max 20 minutes of traffic in the the good ol days. Nowadays, I’m doing 50 minutes to an hour. A lot of these people shouldn’t be on the road.
rapPayne@reddit
I know! It's always those other people that are the problem.
Technical_Quiet_5687@reddit
Never understood why this is. In other states I’ve lived in, it’s mandatory state law to move over for non injury accidents. If you don’t, the cop cites you when they show up. But since moving to Dallas all I constantly see are minor fender benders with 10 cops showing up and blocking 2-3 traffic lanes. It’s wild. But apparently you can’t get cops to show up timely for gun shots or actual dangerous situations.
TransportationEng@reddit
Take the exit. The shoulder is dangerous.
TexasBaconMan@reddit
Just avoid the accident to begin with.
Chazzybobo@reddit
Take the train
Positive_Ad_1323@reddit
stay home.
Chazzybobo@reddit
Never leave the basement.
Texas451@reddit
Don’t be born.
Chazzybobo@reddit
Go back in time, pull your dad out of your mom on that fateful night
SYNtechp90@reddit
Matter of fact... Travel back further and Wilkes booth your grandpa after high-school.

Nice

nice
brewtus007@reddit
You guys basements?
doctorstrange06@reddit
I dont understand why people treat fender benders like its a crime scene.
crewsctrl@reddit
Because the car is disabled by the collision damage.
worthwhile_conundrum@reddit
Fender bender refers to basically bumper damage. Wrecks staying in place if disabled aren’t covered by the term fender bender.
GreenHorror4252@reddit
True, but sometimes it's difficult to quickly assess the damage and know if the car is safe to drive, especially if the airbags deploy.
crewsctrl@reddit
That it's just a fender bender is their uninformed opinion. Hopefully they only glanced at the scene briefly instead of studying the damage intently as they drove by. Rubber-necking could lead to another collision.
CharlieTeller@reddit
I don’t care if I’ve got a flat tire or I’m crabbing my way there. I’m steering it off the highway. If it breaks driving another few hundred yards, it’ll be something that needs replacing when it’s in the repair process anyway so might as well not sit on the highway waiting for one of you idiots on your phone to read end me

Josephk_5690@reddit
My bad, Grandpa!
IranianLawyer@reddit
It’s because people are fucking selfish. They want to leave the cars where they are and call the police to avoid the tiny possibility that the responsible driver will lie about the situation later. So they’re going to inconvenience thousands and thousands of people stuck in traffic.
StrLord_Who@reddit
You should move it ASAP but you really really need to snap a few pics before you do.
captain_trainwreck@reddit
Just got in a fender bender. Thank God my first instinct was to open reddit
Snobolski@reddit
TxDOT should put you in charge of those message billboards
Impossible-Try-9161@reddit
Some people are under the impression that moving the vehicle may erase proof of fault. They think it's better for the cop to arrive and deduce from the angles who effed up.
Aleyla@reddit
Given that a lot of cops are just idiots, the idea sounds good. But, honestly, it still doesn’t make a difference.
waffels@reddit
The first thing cops say when they show up is “move your car to the shoulder ya fuckin dunce!”
ecmoon16@reddit
I was rear-ended on 35 a few years ago. I got out to make sure the guy was okay and that his car would drive then had to explain that yes, we needed to get off the highway. You'll be shocked to learn that he was uninsured 🙄
Aleyla@reddit
Surprised he waited for you to check on him before he drove off.
waffels@reddit
Wait… mean the cops don’t come, shut down the highway, and take photos of the entire crime scene?!
mideon2000@reddit
Saw one southbound 35 by American Airlines arena yesterday. Slow traffic, some asshat tried to swerve around 2 slowing cars and clipped one of them because he didn't wanna slow down. Far left lane. Illbe damned if all3 involved didn't move to the shoulder within 30 seconds.
It was a Christmas miracle
Icy_Huckleberry_8049@reddit
People are stupid

I miss my Jeep Wrangler. When I commuted and would hit this nonsense, the first second I could, I'd offroad right to the frontage road and take the side roads home. Those BFG KO2 tires were well worth the money.
LazHuffy@reddit
Saw this Monday during the morning rush hour on the Tollway at the 635 exit. Minor fender bender and the two drivers are out talking on their phones. Pure insanity, take the next exit and talk there.
sonofscario@reddit
If it steers, it clears. I have yelled that to many times while driving
StuckInTheMiddleSeat@reddit (OP)
“You can’t park there!”

Issemann@reddit
LOL 😆
ZeRussian@reddit
Even if the radiator is busted, the car will still start and can be moved to the shoulder without overheating the engine in the 30 seconds it’d take to do so.
gr0uchyMofo@reddit
Insane to see people standing in front of their cars on their phones with their backs to traffic in the dark.
nickgomez@reddit
Take a few pics. This ain’t CSI Dallas the cops probably won’t even show up
SignificantRich9168@reddit
dallas highways should have something akin to bowling pinsetter sweeps for this reason
dontcomeback82@reddit
How about a zambonie that pushes you out if the way
Obvious-Plantain-564@reddit
AND THEN 6 FIRETRUCKS SHOW UP when everyone could have just taken the nearest exit and dealt with it there.
Wojtkie@reddit
635 eastbound? Yeah I saw that too
worthwhile_conundrum@reddit
Also, please never stand in between two cars even on the shoulder. Getting in a fender bender then being cut in half while inspecting the damage happens more than it ever should.
GravitationalEddie@reddit
Not too long after the newest NB 75 exit to 15th was finished(before all the other construction), a young couple had a flat and hubby was fixing it on the ramp. Wifey had 8 month-old Junior in her arms standing between hubby and traffic as he wrestled with a scissor-jack and an elbow wrench. Arguing with hubby was more important than taking her child to a safer location.
Nekrachiyan@reddit
Ive moved here last year and I’ve seen this so many times wtf
ChosynLabs@reddit
There is massive backup on 121 expressway heading to Plano/McKinney… everyone is stuck and there is no rush due to an accident.
