What caused this and how do I fix it?

Got back from a ride on my new D3 found this ring on my front suspension.

thats a sag indicator..

Ball sack or boobs?

Good rule of thumb for Velotric: divide your weight by 2 and put that many PSI in the shocks. If you weigh 150 put 75psi in the front shocks.

Nothing's wrong, the o ring is used to indicate how much the suspension is compressing. Slide it down before a ride and after that the ring shows your maximum travel. It's used to calibrate and set up your suspension.

That’s interesting because before the ride I dialed the suspension to the softest level and pushed down on the handle bars to check resistance. Then increased the resistance to about 3/4 before I started riding. I may have pushed it up when I did that since that was the first time I’ve tested the lowest resistance.

Suspension at the softest level should not compress that much by manually pushing on it unless you are really bearing down on the handlebars. Correctly dialed, you'd have to be riding pretty hard to have the o-ring travel up that high. If your suspension was somehow dialed that low that you could actually compress it by hand that much, you would be bottoming out your fork on every bump, which would be a big problem.
If your fork is actually compressing that much that easily, you need to adjust the fork preload. I cant tell if you have an air or coil fork, but figure that out, and look up youtube videos on how to set it up.

That’s a Velotric Discover 3 he has. It’s an upright cruiser. You want your fork soft otherwise it’s not active. I’d set preload up just tight enough that the fork dive under hard braking wasn’t too excessive and call it good.

this is the right answer

My thoughts too.

Aren't there gradient marks on fork tube ? I did some hard landings today. Mine are air though.

It’s a jelly bracelet. You should see a Swatch Watch on the other side.

No one ever explains this damn o-ring. There should be a tag near it explaining its purpose. It looks like an important seal to a normal person. But I guess everyone has to learn somehow... I messaged the manufacturer for mine and asked. I felt dumb.

Good to hear! Thanks all for the input.

Thats the speed delimiter

🤣

I’ve been trying different adjustment levels on my rides to find the sweet spot for me. I think I like it more on the stiffer side as I ride mostly on rural paved roads.

Looks like an o-ring from the cylinder below it. You might have to disassemble and reinstall or replace.
