[Linus Tech Tips] AMD Ryzen 9950X3D2 Review - confirms they did not recieve a review sample - Youtube
Posted by snollygoster1@reddit | hardware | View on Reddit | 157 comments
I know some other channels have viewed this as AMD having a blacklist, however it seems like LMG/LTT would be a weird channel to exclude, especially considering they have an ongoing sponsorship for their Tech Upgrade series.
Unfortunately if they had any insight into why AMD limited reviews they didn't say so.
JimmyJuly@reddit
I also did not receive a review sample and I AM PISSED!!!!
ConsistencyWelder@reddit
WHERE MY $5000 TECH UPGRADE AMD?!? AM I BLACKLIST?
tomvorlostriddle@reddit
I got mine yesterday, trick is to own about 250 shares of AMD
n19htmare@reddit
Stop watching and getting your news from YT reviewers. They ALL rely on clicks and nothing generates more clicks and views than rage. This has always been true, it’s just more apparent now because the industry itself is coming to a standstill and “business is slow”. Not a lot stuff to review, people are not in position to buy a lot of things, especially new things.
But bills need to be paid.
Homerlncognito@reddit
For tech channels it's especially hard these days. There isn't much interesting happening and people aren't interested in buying HW at current prices.
So we have LTT becoming a MrBeast, GN focusing on drama etc.
kikimaru024@reddit
There are cooling products being released constantly.
I guess they just won't lower their standards to where the ROI for testing becomes feasible (20 hours for 1 cooler, or whatever).
Homerlncognito@reddit
Cooling is practically a solved problem and most people have coolers they're happy with. Still, it feels weird that GN invested in building an anechoic chamber and fancy fan testing equipment and they barely use it.
snollygoster1@reddit (OP)
Yeah, I pointed out the lack of fan chamber use on a GN video that was posted here and Steve himself responded (paraphrasing here) "well we used it in our review of Antec's $400 Noctua case".
Besides core components like motherboard/gpu/cpu/ram the only other components I've replaced in my PC in the past 5 years has been fans. I ended up going with an option from Thermalright that looked fine on paper, but it would be nice if there were more reviews besides "Pay $30/each for the brown brand"
RX1542@reddit
did AMD blacklist you?
JimmyJuly@reddit
AMD blacklisted me, then they came to my house and KICKED MY CAT!
jerryfrz@reddit
Your cat deserved it tbh, I saw its driver complain post on the AMD forum
RX1542@reddit
goddamnit it lisa!
snollygoster1@reddit (OP)
Sounds like you're blacklisted bud. Better not go ask about drivers
sai_ismyname@reddit
can we pls ignore this guy??
RhubarbUpper@reddit
Not sure why you're getting down voted Linus is a notorious scum bag
ConsistencyWelder@reddit
All his videos are self serving and have been for a while. It's either him humblebragging about his investments and his new private jet, or he's making a video about how he upgraded his entire house with the most expensive tech, so he can have his company pay for it and get it written off in taxes. The rest is sponsored videos that aren't made in the interest of the viewer, but to make LTT money.
Why would I watch that?
skinlo@reddit
All professional Youtubers are self serving, they want people to watch their videos to make money.
ConsistencyWelder@reddit
But the good ones get people to watch it by offering value to them for watching. LTT is adding value to Linus' home and LMG's coffers, and not offering much value for the viewer in the videos.
skinlo@reddit
Their viewership is declining because the consumer hardware space is declining. RAM is extortionate, storage costs are high, GPUs costs are high, even CPU costs are going up. Nobody is excited to build computers in this market. Viewing figures are down for the majority of tech tubers.
I'm a tech enthusiast so I enjoy seeing tech even if I can't afford 99% of it, in the same way I used to enjoy watching Top Gear.
ConsistencyWelder@reddit
Their viewership decline started before the RAMpocalypse.
skinlo@reddit
Even before then the industry wasn't in a great place. It's not like the 2020 Ryzen day when AMD rapidly catching up with Intel, or even the early RT days where at least there was a new technology. The excitement just isn't there.
skinlo@reddit
Because he isn't a notorious scum bag? If anything, Steve has been a bit more scumming in the last few years.
RhubarbUpper@reddit
Really, did he not lie about having a small companies 1 of 1 prototype GPU waterblock and end up auctioning off when they asked him to return it and he ghosted them? You know Google exists right
skinlo@reddit
Yes it ended up in auction, but it was an accident/miscommunication between them and Billet Labs, not a deliberate attempt to make profit. The auction money went to charity, and he paid Billet Labs compensation. GN didn't bother to ask LTT's side of the story though because it was a hit piece, not proper journalism.
What about them? There was an independent investigation and it was found they were false. A non story.
Most of those came from the same person the fake sexual harassment allegations came from as far as I know, unless you know of many more. It doesn't appear the turnover is particularly high.
RhubarbUpper@reddit
Lmao okay Linus, there's nothing that gets past you clearly, even tho he lost his own position at his own company due to all the scandals
FabianN@reddit
LMAO
talk about making it plainly clear that you don't know what you're talking about.
If you are referring to him stepping down as CEO, that was in the works for probably a year and the switch happened a whole month before the "scandals" happened.
stuff7@reddit
its shocking that there are redditors that just straight up typed bullshit confidently.
skinlo@reddit
He stepped down as CEO because he couldn't be bothered with all the day to day running of LTT, and wanted to focus on the creative side. He didn't 'lose his position', he chose to do it, and he still owns everything.
Stating facts isn't worship. Accept you were wrong, and move on.
RhubarbUpper@reddit
There is no facts in which you mentioned, but you're clearly a hardcore Linus stan or you are Linus which would be ten times more hilarious
TetsuoSama@reddit
You are so misinformed, you must get your news from Gamers Nexus.
mike9184@reddit
All of this shit has already been addressed, cleared or compensated, bro needs to move on 💀.
Blurgas@reddit
Search for "linus tech tips" on this sub and there's 3 LTT videos posted within the last year.
The previous was ~2 months ago and the next three that were posted to this sub were heavily downvoted.
Such a fan club here.
Wander715@reddit
Gamer's Nexus is looking dumber by the minute with every outlet that comes out and says they didn't get a review sample. Most likely AMD just wanted to limit day 1 reviews since they knew they had a fairly underwhelming product on their hands.
I hope the constant drama-baiting on GN's end comes back and bites them in the ass. Maybe AMD actually blacklists them after this.
BraveEmployment8652@reddit
Definitely manufactured outrage. Tons of sites not on VideoCardz list got the chip for NDA. Some of them do very in-depth testing, like Tom's Hardware, which does more testing than TPU, and said it was not a good value.
SyzygeticHarmony@reddit
The answer is usually much simpler and less nefarious than everyone wants to believe. I'd bet money on someone having a spreadsheet somewhere, saying "hey we only have like 30 review samples to send out, this isnt really a gaming product, which channels focus on workstation/productivity tasks?" then every channel with a predominant gaming slant gets shuffled to the bottom of the list, below the cutoff. but then again, Hardware Unboxed got a review unit, and they're gaming first, so what do I know!
Zironic@reddit
That doesn't make a lot of sense to me. The X3D chips have always been primarily gaming chips because gaming needs the single threaded performance boost the extra cache provides. Workstation/productivity favors more cores which is what the threadripper line does.
snollygoster1@reddit (OP)
The extra cache has benefits outside of gaming for data intensive workloads and that's really the main use case for this CPU. Having the cache split across CCD's means there's a latency penalty, and because of that it doesn't make much sense for most games.
Zironic@reddit
You wouldn't use an actual workstation chip for those workloads because why?
Hanselltc@reddit
because there doesn't seem to be an actual workstation epyc version of this chip yet lol
Geddagod@reddit
There are no workstation or epyc 3D V-cache skus for Zen 5 unfortunately.
Zironic@reddit
What workload exactly would allow a 9950X3D2 to outperform a 9755 or 9684X?
AirFlavoredLemon@reddit
This. On the server end, there will always be the choice of fast fewer cores and more multi cores.
But Zen 5 X3D is still desktop/consumer platforms only.
snollygoster1@reddit (OP)
Price. Even at $900 this is a middleground chip for those workloads
Zironic@reddit
Depending on specific workload, you're looking at between 25-50% speed increase for 100% more money compared to other consumer CPUs so it's not the cost-efficient option.
So you would have to be someone who has data intensive workloads but is going for neither cost-efficiency nor maximum performance.
I honestly don't think this CPU has an actual market beyond people who want to have the fastest consumer CPU available for the sake of having the fastest consumer CPU available.
Numerlor@reddit
The threadrippers could be outperformed because of the cache, though this is only for some very specific workloads. Where the threadrippers completely lose is price, as you've got mobos that you either have to luck into a bundle or get at almost the same price as the cpu, and then ridiculously expensive rdimms
Zironic@reddit
What you're looking at is that for very very very specific workloads, the 3D cache can get you up to 50% more per-core performance. However a threadripper workstation is going to have 4-8 times more cores.
I'm not sure there exists any workload where a 9950X3D2 has a siginificant performance increase over a 9950X3D but isn't outperformed by a threadripper.
eivittunyt@reddit
Another $450 to get 50% more out the rest of your system is a great deal for professionals, especially with these ram prices. Dropping another $8000 to upgrade to a threadripper is a pretty big jump.
Zironic@reddit
The 50% speed gain is almost exclusively for certain very particular forms of scientific computing. Not any kind of common professional software.
For any kind of commercial software, you're looking at 1-10% gains.
eivittunyt@reddit
96 core threadrippers have double the l3 cache but over 6x the dies at 13x the cost
Depending on the application this might be the best cpu for the same reason threadripper pro 9995x isn't the best gaming cpu.
iluvchromosomes@reddit
There is no CPU for which gaming is the primary usage. Gamers have wildly inflated egos.
BighatNucase@reddit
Yeah people are buying 9800x3D's for blender /s
soggybiscuit93@reddit
I know professionals who work exclusively in Blender for their job, and a 9800X3D would be an upgrade for them.
X3D was designed for enterprise. When it was discovered that improved gaming was a good side effect, they released it for consumers too
BighatNucase@reddit
You're making my point, right?
gorion@reddit
Not really. They are now, but initially X3D were designed for server CPUs. Multi x3D chiplets were there from beggining in 2022 on Milan-X and thats why first gen was on top of chip.
BighatNucase@reddit
The base 9950x3D wasn't really a gaming chip though? The best gaming chip is the 9850x3D (or the new version I suppose) and the 9950 is for professional workloads.
peerless_potato@reddit
Nah, unlikely, since they would have included techpowerup then, as they have more diverse tests (compilation, ai, emulation etc.) compared to most outlets which received a sample. Maybe also igorslab.
If we look at who got a sample, other than phoronix and puget, the other initial reviews are just meh. I expect wendel to release more interesting stuff in the coming days/weeks, but the other outlets? Pff.
One scenario where the CPU should shine is virtualized gaming, since the second CCD has vcache now, so you can basically pass an entire 9850X3D exlusively into a VM, but none tested how it performs. Hopefully/u/wendell will do it later dogeyes
Dominicus1165@reddit
Well der Bauer also got one. Very good reviewer but quite small in comparison
peerless_potato@reddit
I know, I watched his review and it was meh since it didn't test workstation workloads.
So I doubt folks at AMD looked at a spreadsheet and send it to workstation/produktivity outlets. If we look at who got a CPU it's a weird selection, because if you want to burry the reviews why send it to pcgh and roman which have quite a bit of reach, as well as SkatterBencher which enthusiasts watch for RAM overclocking.
acayaba@reddit
He is also the biggest one in German language.
pythonic_dude@reddit
But you don't need vcache on the host OS, so it only makes sense if you can't lock host to use the cacheless ccd and pass the "first" one to the VM with a regular, much cheaper 9950x3d.
peerless_potato@reddit
The last time I looked the 9950x3d doesn't really work that well for this use case because it has the vcache on the first ccd. That is a problem because the linux host and most of it's programs as well as interrupts default to the first ccd and the first 1-2 cores.
Which means you get microstuttering if you pass the entire ccd into a vm, because the host will still schedule stuff on the first 1-2 cores.
You can fix this by only passing the 2nd ccd into the vm, but since it doesn't have vcache on the 9950x3d you don't get the benefits.
Another fix is to only pass the remaining cores/threads of the first ccd into the vm, but then you "only" get a 6 core/12 threads 9600x3d inside the VM.
Like your write, you could try to pin the host to use the cacheless ccd if you know your way around Linux, as you can try to juggle around irqbalance, CPUAffinity, emulatorpin, iothreadpin and isolcpus or whatever.
But the 9950x3d2 is much more comfortable in this case because it doesnt require it. If that is worth the premium is another story.
If you really want you could also game with multiple people on this, each with their own VM, one 9850x3d and the 2nd with a "9600x3d".
Occulto@reddit
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1PcO2k6vprY
kingwhocares@reddit
It's an x3D which has larger cache. It's a gaming product. Their normal 9950X is more suited to CPU intensive workloads.
Also, having so few review samples means they intentionally didn't want Day 1 3rd party reviews. Thus, they want to hide something.
WJMazepas@reddit
LTT literally stated in the video that AMD didnt send them a CPU for review and that they had to buy one
s4nk1@reddit
they are indeed in stock here
Special_Sherbert4617@reddit
why did you just make something up and then disprove it and still hit submit. Idgaf about this topic but this is so funny to me
frazorblade@reddit
Hanlon’s razor
Aldracity@reddit
I wouldn't quite say that, but from what I can tell, the outlets that got skipped are in North America, or at least heavily based in North America (TPU getting skipped but der8auer not is odd). So my theory is that whatever fuckery happened was some kinda interference with making review samples available on the continent.
jenny_905@reddit
Yup..
It's not a product that was ever going to get a glowing reception from the gaming focused YouTubers so why bother?
Sopel97@reddit
GN was not ranting about not receiving the sample. They were ranting about being relegated to normal 3rd party support.
-Gh0st96-@reddit
No you don't understand, AMD HATES Steve, only him, they black listed him because he fights for the GAMERS!
or whatever bullshit half this sub believes and his fanbase
Liatin11@reddit
Gamers nexus has a drama farming problem
KinTharEl@reddit
I usually ignore the drama videos and come to them when there's a product launch. It's not mandatory to watch all videos a channel puts out.
caedin8@reddit
HUB even worse
Blurgas@reddit
Part of the reason I don't watch GN as much is they seem to like jumping the gun on things.
fastheadcrab@reddit
In that case it also reflects negatively on AMD. What exactly are they going to hide? The product is literally going to be released anyway. People will be able to test it soon enough.
Anyone with common sense will be able to anticipate that the performance jump will be small and they should be able to understand it rationally. The problem is not the lack of performance jump, it's the insane pricing.
I get AMD would rather use the chips in datacenter CPUs but they can't have their cake and eat it too.
We saw this exact issue play out with the 285k vs the 270k. At $600, the CPU is a horrible deal, at $300, it is an amazing deal.
RumbleTheCassette@reddit
I mean did you watch the GN video? AMD has stopped responding to GN too, apparently, going back a few months.
Arch-by-the-way@reddit
They stopped responding about a product they’re not sending to the guy who is constantly blowing things out of proportion?
stryakr@reddit
Investigative journalism says what
Arch-by-the-way@reddit
You like him because he makes you mad and exaggerates under the guise of journalism
LavaMonsterrrr@reddit
Imagine being a customer service rep dealing with a customer constantly asking about a product you’re not sending, and the customer is Steve ‘tech Jesus’ Nexus™️
I’m sure it’s a perfectly calm and respectful email chain right?
spectracide_@reddit
imagine being a peasant defending the bourgeois
FinancialRip2008@reddit
imagine thinking AMD-the-company is part of the middle class.
skinlo@reddit
GN being the bourgeois in this case. GN is easily worth millions.
chmilz@reddit
HWB in their video stated AMD communicates to them via a local (Australian) 3rd party PR company. The PR firm responsible for GN might suck, or maybe he pissed them off or something.
Deep90@reddit
I suspect they didn't and this morso has to do with LLT fans having 1-sided beef with GN.
Exist50@reddit
Lmao, you've got to be joking.
Whatcanyado420@reddit
Good. They don’t need special treatment above what even LTT gets.
makeshift18@reddit
Man hate reads the titles and likes the spread misinfo
soggybiscuit93@reddit
Let's not miss the forest for the trees here.
AMD isn't responding to emails from a major review outlet and is selectively choosing which reviewers do and don't get review units based on an unknown, opaque selection process.
GN may have a tendency to blow things out of proportion, but AMD is definitely in the wrong here and people shouldn't be running to defend this
Tech_Philosophy@reddit
>Most likely AMD just wanted to limit day 1 reviews since they knew they had a fairly underwhelming product on their hands.
But...that's even worse, lol. Blacklisting happens all the time. I mean, I guess so does covering up a shitty product launch, but...at least in theory I feel like AMD has the freedom to choose who to send free shit to. Covering up a crappy consumer product is the worse sin in my book.
mrheosuper@reddit
A lot of underwhelming products have no limited day 1 review: Intel 11th gen cpu for example.
Geddagod@reddit
There was limited and then there's this, which I believe is the most limited day 1 release in a couple of years. If anyone has any numbers to disprove this, since I'm going off of memory, I would be happy to see it though.
raydialseeker@reddit
Hardware unboxed said that retailers have plenty of stock. This seems like dmg control
Deep_Ad2579@reddit
They've been a clickbait channel for years now.
anor_wondo@reddit
tbh they've become infinitely worse recently
TheRealSeeThruHead@reddit
They didn’t need any help to look dum either
Senator_Workholeface@reddit
baron643@reddit
You are dumbest man ive seen on reddit, hats offf
GN didnt throw a tantrum, they just showed how shitty AMD has become towards them and its customers
The kind of people like you really deserve 1,000 USD ram prices, fucking hell
EitherRecognition242@reddit
You are literally making shit up to excuse amd.
Arch-by-the-way@reddit
Anything to stay mad
skinlo@reddit
Excuse AMD from what?
NapsterKnowHow@reddit
Hoping this opens people's eyes to the insanely bad and biased "reporting" GN has done and that they stop supporting them.
byGenn@reddit
What would AMD even gain from blacklisting them now? Although, to be fair, GN have been piling on them (rightfully so, IMO at least) for a while, so it wouldn’t have been surprising.
banananon@reddit
GN blowing things out of proportion? Color me SHOCKED
kneepel@reddit
The GN video was a bit overblown, but I don't think it's quite a reach to make an assumption they were blackballed considering the lack of communication that allegedly started around the time they were criticising AMD for political donations amongst other things.
I would be curious to see if the lack of communication is specific to GN or if other reviewers have similar complaints.
Any-Pop-4795@reddit
yeah, i mean its good that someone complaints for the right stuff but this time i was about to throw a baby pacifer at the screen
rdwror@reddit
Linus, is that you?
metalmayne@reddit
Well if you watched Steve’s video, they already are in a blackout of information. This post makes you look dumb. People that defend multi billion dollar companies sadden me. You’re worse than a prop to these companies you’re an exploitable resource.
PapaNixon@reddit
As somehow who doesn't pay much attention to YouTube reviewers...wasn't GN this subs golden boy not too long ago?
snollygoster1@reddit (OP)
Ever since GN came out with their LTT video this sub has become very divided. I think within the past 6 months people have just become more aware of GN's doom and gloom videos
OutsideChampion4637@reddit
What LTT video from GN?
Blurgas@reddit
GN basically did a "hit piece" on LTT ~2 years ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGW3TPytTjc
There was a whole mess of drama around it with everyone and their grandmothers chiming in to get some of the clicks/views.
Even though Steve had some valid points, it all kind of ended with Steve making an ass of himself and just ignoring that he did so.
Odd_Duty520@reddit
I think the worst part is that GN's video was probably entirely unneccesary.
As mentioned by former employee's (Alex from ZipTieTuning), the mistakes that GN pointed out were already broadly recognised internally and would most like have been eventually corrected over time. Instead, LTT had a fire lit under their ass and had to rush through a bunch of process changes which really hurt their overall business. The worst part is that a number of their employees received death threats and left the company
snollygoster1@reddit (OP)
https://imgur.com/v7faZ2t
milk-jug@reddit
I unsubbed from GN after, the callout was needed but the over-dramatization was completely unnecessary. Everything is a conspiracy and everyone is out to scam us.
NoAirBanding@reddit
We're tired of Sour Steve
RabidHexley@reddit
I wasn't even aware of any beef between GN and LTT, but I began souring a little while back when it felt like every video I was seeing from them in my feed began feeling like endless "negativity gets views"-style content.
Being a tech-enthusiast has already sucked enough in recent years, I didn't need another youtuber telling me to be pissed off.
chmilz@reddit
Folks like to call Steve "Tech Jesus" but his content lately has really pivoted to "Tech Karen". Dude thirsts to talk to managers.
I don't mind some of his content though. I'll watch if it's interesting.
Valcoma@reddit
Real
paeschli@reddit
People complain that GN is too negative about AI and people complain that Wendell is too positive about AI. Seems like you can't please anyone in today's market
Occulto@reddit
Steve's editorialising is shocking, he rambles, and there are definitely times (when he's talking to genuine industry experts) where the mask slips and he comes off as very amateurish. Compare the difference in body language and his tone when he's talking by himself to camera, and when he's talking to someone like Wendell.
It's interesting that these days the only GN videos I watch are ones where Steve isn't the focus. Things like factory tours or interviews with industry figures.
Yep. I don't need someone haranguing me, repeatedly pointing out why the obviously bad thing is bad, and how I should be angry that the bad thing is bad, over and over again.
-Gh0st96-@reddit
Still is. Steve's one of the few youtubers that actively reply in this sub too, they know how this sub reacts and control the narrative
cowoftheuniverse@reddit
GN gets glazed in multiple pc gaming hardware subs. He claims to be honest consumer rights hero and redditors eat that stuff up. Most redditors don't engage their thinking when watching or are too young to understand the constant leap of faith, jumping to conclusions and other nonsense.
alelo@reddit
sounds like that one NY macbook repair guy - oh wait their are besties
skinlo@reddit
He gets glazed on places like PC Gaming and PC Master Race.
HuntKey2603@reddit
Give anyone enough time and they'll show their true colours. That's basically what happened to GN.
MadOctopus6@reddit
Ohh no…you are telling me Steve has turned his channel into tech drama channel? I can’t believe it, in all honesty not surprised by him overreacting to the degree he has lol
nametaken_thisonetoo@reddit
Genuinely curious who is still watching this channel? Linus is now officially a full blown twat, not even trying to hide it anymore with that jet.
NefariousBlue@reddit
Linus mad he didn't get the CPU for $0 like his private jet.
ConsistencyWelder@reddit
Seems like GamersNexus totally overreacted here if not even LTT got a review sample. It was probably just a random draw who got one and who didn't. They probably don't have enough to just throw them around.
Geddagod@reddit
Sounds like retailers had plenty and yet weren't allowed to give any to reviewers early... though other reviewers got them early from AMD themselves.
5u114@reddit
Ya, because they paid for them.
Also, the people crying the most about this are filthy rich. Gamers Nexus are constantly boasting about how much their testing gear cost, like they spent $250,000 on a room to measure how loud CPU fans are. You spend that kind of money, for that purpose, you can afford to buy the gear you review every once in a while.
Also, Gamers Nexus constantly going at AMD over political shit, who they donate to etc ... fair enough, but why cry about it when AMD no longer treat you as a priority ? Buy your CPU like everyone else - you can afford it.
Also, plenty of reviewers got samples ... and no coincidence that, for the most part, they are outlets that aren't heavily focused on gaming - it isn't a gaming CPU.
All of these millionaire youtubers are drama farming, and the drones who were already butthurt by the CPU and its price tag are lapping it up without a second thought.
ResponsibleJudge3172@reddit
However that is equally applicable to 5060 for example
pythonic_dude@reddit
How fucking dumb you need to be to think it's about having to buy the review sample rather than getting it early and having up to multiple weeks to test it and have the review ready for the embargo lift?
5u114@reddit
Oh noes! The multimillionaire won't have a day 1 review!
Someone call the UN. Won't someone think of the millionaires ?!?
comelickmyarmpits@reddit
They dont have enough but ltt can buy one lmao
alelo@reddit
the pr team doesnt have enough
comelickmyarmpits@reddit
Yeah they don't have enough lol
Delicious-Window-277@reddit
The fact that they didn't put out extensive benchmarks and were vague on the details aside from tech specs + keeping many reviewers out of the loop. Also GN might have its crash outs but I dont trust many others to give objective reviews. They use solid testing methodology.
krtoonbrat@reddit
Personally I prefer HardwareUnboxed for in depth reviews. I trust their methodology as much as GN, and their presentation style is more engaging IMO. GN also sometimes has a “holier than thou” attitude that bothers me. It seems like the “Tech Jesus” nickname goes to his head sometimes.
Specialist-Buffalo-8@reddit
Anyone in the enthusiast space understands that HWUB are hypocrites and have no idea how to draw genuine connections or conclusions.
I at least respect their raw data angle.
skinlo@reddit
Nice logical fallacy.
In what way are they 'hypocrites'?
Specialist-Buffalo-8@reddit
theres no point in diving further into it, its honestly best if I save you the drama and you stay surface level then rather dive deeper.
HardwareUnboxed@reddit
Such a high IQ play by you 🤣
Blurgas@reddit
If someone refuses to elaborate on a spicy statement then everyone can just assume they pulled it out their ass.
gahlo@reddit
The lowest of bars, honestly.
FinancialRip2008@reddit
this is a product for a very specific customer. it's totally reasonable that amd didn't want to seed it to a bunch of outlets that don't serve that customer.
i think they shoulda done it anyway, to avoid this obvious backlash, but obviously i'm not an amd marketing person.
snollygoster1@reddit (OP)
The strangeness is the fact that it seems like a completely random handful of reviewers were given it. Honestly it feels like something AMD should actually make a statement about at this point because none of it really makes a lick of sense.
specialk2hz@reddit
But does it have a refurbished jet engine???
sadmistersalmon@reddit
it looks like i am also blacklisted, since i didn’t get my sample. what’s up with that, AMD??? i wasn’t even a reviewer, why me???!
PossibilityUsual6262@reddit
I don't think ltt would be blacklisted for anything from amd, doesn't they sponsor tech renovations for employees for like 5k per video.
snollygoster1@reddit (OP)
Yeah that's my point which is why I said " especially considering they have an ongoing sponsorship for their Tech Upgrade series."
fathed@reddit
Not that anyone will agree, but they are doing previews when they get products before release. Someone reviewing a product does it after release.
This is all marketing, and now rage marketing to keep their influence goals going. They want the ad revenue.
denoflore_ai_guy@reddit
