Smartphones should detect when you're on public transport and not allow you to play sound on your phone speakers

Maybe with a message like "It looks like you're on a bus. No one else wants to hear your music. Put on headphones to continue"
ContributionEasy6513@reddit
Yes. It should also shock the user like a tazer for good measure

If you want a laugh, the powers that be tried to give me a 3 day ban for this comment!

Just what we need, our smart devices to become more restrictive
lkodl@reddit
Yeah this is kind of weird. Like being so upset at a rude person that you'd give up some of your freedom/privacy for karmic balance.
Jman15x@reddit
I know I'll get downvoted for this but I never understood the outrage from speakerphone conversations in public. It's not much different than 2 people conversing normally.
LA_Throwaway_6439@reddit
The voice on the speaker has a different sound than a real live voice. It's often loud, tinny, artificial. It's just distracting, moreso than a normal voice.
Jman15x@reddit
It is but some peoples voices are annoying too and we can't ban them from speaking.

In a somewhat similar vein, there should be a way my car can tell I'm in a carwash and stop continuously alerting me to proximity alert/object detected. 😜
lkodl@reddit
I just pretend it's R2-D2 freaking out.
"Don't worry R2, we'll he fine"
pjkitty@reddit
Would be much more entertaining if these alerts were R2 sounds. 😂
realityinflux@reddit
I'd pay for that feature.
rSlashisthenewPewdes@reddit
Don’t tell them that or you will be paying for it.
realityinflux@reddit
Especially since it's a BMW, and it'll probably be a monthly subscription feature.

Idk, I might be the unpopular opinion but I actually like hearing other peoples music. It’s like taking a glimpse into a piece of somebodys internal world. I like observing people, they are fascinating. If I don’t want to hear them, I put on my headphones.
alien4649@reddit
I keep mine on manner mode all the time. Since I have an Apple Watch I get alerts there when my phone isn’t nearby or is in my backpack or briefcase, etc. Living in Japan, quiet is the default.
feel-the-avocado@reddit
I am totally all for that - a bus company should be able to buy a small low power beacon unit that sends out a 5ghz signal - perhaps even just a 5ghz wifi ssid generator - that phones will pick up on and whenever they detect it, the loud speaker on the phone is disabled but bluetooth remains enabled for headphone use.
Probably cant stop it for bluetooth speakers though but its a genius idea.
P1zzaman@reddit
I will gladly give up my right to being an asshole on public transport if it means others can’t be assholes on public transport.
tabbrenea@reddit
I guess everyone wants to maintain their right to be a supreme asshole over anything else.
jibberkibber@reddit
I hope you never get any influence over society at large.
Deeptrench34@reddit
I understand the sentiment here but no. Just no.

Or you could just hit a button on your phone.

People already can and they choose not to
Cynical_Tripster@reddit
