Just wanted to give others with medical issues going through the process hope. I won’t go into much detail about how severe my PTSD/Tension Headaches are but it is possible. Now to find a flight school

hey we both have the same AME!

Congrats! I'm 100 PT and it took me 2 years to get cleared. Glad you took significantly less time.

Is this military related PTSD with a rating, or something that’s occurred unrelated to the military?
Asking for those (me) with a VA PTSD rating.
Brent_Bama@reddit (OP)
It is military related PTSD, yes.
CannonAFB_unofficial@reddit
Do you care to share your rating? I’m 50% MH of that makes it more comfortable. 100% PT but the rest is from broke bones and a hip replacement that I’m not concerned about from an FAA perspective.
I have had a consult, but my AME passed in a chopper mishap so I’m getting more real-world feelers.

Feel free to hit me up also. Got my 1st class with 50% rating

If you can't find a replacement locally, hit up Jerry Limoge in Colorado Springs. I fly out to see him every year for my class 1. Totally worth the trip. He is a retired AF General, Sr. AME with the FAA. I'm 100% P&T as well and got me through.

Think we had the same AME.

PNW took a hit on that one. He was definitely helping me out with this process. I hear good things about the lady who kinda stepped in though.

I’ll dm you with a little more info.

Huh, the tinnitus was the thing that piqued my interest. Was going to shitpost about wearing your ANC headset. Now I'm crying, fuck.
AcePilot01@reddit
Good to know thanks.
Btw, did you have documented cases of it when you filed, or did you file with the VA before actually getting anything from a doctor? I have reluctantly avoided the doctor since I got out in 2012, and maybe screwed myself? SO I don't really have much of anything documented unfortunately.
Strega007@reddit
How long did that take to get processed through OKC?
Chemical-Pressure-24@reddit
Congratulations. Very happy for you
chinchin__pilot@reddit
Congrats, holy hell that must've been a fight.
Elios000@reddit
gives me hope one day i can at lest get med for PPL if not a basic CPL. still think needing a medical at all for PPL(at lest more then just yeah your not going fall over in flight) is silly at this point i get need for CPL and APT needing more but still FAA's soo behind on mental health
Navydevildoc@reddit
Just curious, were you not able to use the simplified PTSD flowchart provided to AMEs? The vast majority of time they can issue in the office without having to send it off to OKC.
Mad_Rooster_7164@reddit
congrats! what was your timeline?
Brent_Bama@reddit (OP)
I’m not at the house so I don’t have the exact dates to give a proper timeline but it was around 6-7 months.
