I built a Linux forum in Spanish because there aren't any active ones

Spanish-speaking Linux communities mostly live on Discord, which means knowledge gets lost constantly. A solution someone explains today disappears in days.
So I built one: foro.rcv11x.net
It covers distros, terminal, homelab, selfhosting, Proxmox, Docker, Linux gaming and emulation. Discord login, Google-indexed threads, self-hosted on my own server.
Still early days, sharing in case anyone knows Spanish speakers who'd find it useful.

Reality is, forums have been slowly dying due to Discord, or other mediums. Younger people tend to not use forums like some of us older people did as that is what we grew up with.
Tie it in with increase AI use and even stackexchange and others are slowly dying now...
I wish you luck for sure on this and hope it takes off, but you are going to be fighting an uphill battle in trying to get people to actually use said forums.

If forums all used the same account everyone already had, they'd be thriving. But nobody wants to make an account just to join a new forum.
Maybe activity pub is the answer. Everything there can be used on the same account.

Convenience would likely help, not sure if ones like discourse offer say Google integration for signing in....

Hey, I'm just reading through the comments to get some feedback. On my forum, I have the option to sign up normally, as well as sign in via GitHub and Discord. Do you think it would be a good idea to let people sign in with their Google accounts? I've been thinking about it.

Wouldn’t that just be Reddit?

Forums tend to be more specific to a topic vs what Reddit does, along with all of the annoying "recommended" crap in feeds every week that have nothing at all to do with anything I use reddit for.

IDK, if anything I see a resurgence of niche forums and all the attempts to replace them with Discord go nowhere. E.g. OpenWrt forum vs Discord.

Well, I have to tell you that you're completely wrong, because this isn't built with AI—it's an open-source forum framework called Flarum: https://github.com/flarum/framework
There are plenty of others, like Discourse, phpBB...
So before you say something you don't know is true, do your research. No hard feelings, okay? 👌🏼

Boy that link really rolls right off the tongue.

I plan to replace it later, haha—I just wanted to see how it worked out before spending any more money 😅

How many maintainers do you have in your team, to make sure this one doesn't die as well? And what's your plan to reach a large portion of Spanish-speaking Linux users?
rec0veryyy@reddit (OP)
For now, I'm the only one managing the forum since it's small and I can handle it without any trouble, but if I need help down the road, I'll bring on two or three moderators.
nandospc@reddit
What's the name of that forum platform?
rec0veryyy@reddit (OP)
Flarum 👍🏻

I mainly go to the Facebook Spanish language pages, which tend to be very active. You might want to share it there as well.

Why not just creating subreddit?
