Is Engwe L20 boost a decent first ebike?

I assume you are american? In the netherlands these types of bikes are trashy, low class bum bikes. If i'd ride one to work i'd get sent back home to get another bike.

I have this bike, it's not put a foot wrong in the year I've had it, it tackles hills effortlessly and is very quick. It's great for carrying stuff as it's a cargo bike but be warned it's very heavy to pick up.

That's good to hear! Do you use the stock tyres or did you change them?

I left the stock tyres on, I do a mix of off road and tarmac riding and it's fine for both of these.

It's a gamble with these bikes, if you are lucky you get a cheap and good bike, but unlucky something needs fixing, you have to pay and fix yourself.

It's not efficient and budget China quality, those fat tires are for sand, snow and stuff.
I would rather get a used city ebike for that money.
