Top 5 favorite bands, now and then

I am writing this as someone will always ask who your top 5 bands are, I know a lot of people will remember their youth and pick 5 from when music was from that time period, but in reality I know my top 5 bands back then don’t crack my top 5 now, but I look at how long those bands have been with me and I’ve said my they deserve to be my top 5 due to length of time they have been with me but I have to be real with myself so I am giving you my top 5 in reality and my top 5 from youth
Younger me would have chosen
Kiss
Metallica
Judas Priest
Iron Maiden
Megadeth
But in reality now it’s
Kiss
Lynyrd Skynyrd
Led Zeppelin
Gary Numan
Smashing Pumpkins
As you see, only 1 band back from the day still made my top 5 today
Let’s see yours

Depends on the decade really.
I did not like rock until I was in my 20s, then it somewhat took over. But I also had a decade where mostly electronic music dominated. And then I went on a folk stint. I also like classical a lot.
Now my list is pretty ecclectic. I listen to a huge mix of music, pretty much a blend of all the decades where I had individual favorites.
I'd say across the decades these are probably my favorite.
Tool Over the Rhine Fiona Apple Smashing Pumpkins Yeah Yeah Yeahs

hasn't really changed that I can think of. I was born in 1973 but I always preffered music from the 60s. I never liked 80s pop music like Michael Jackson or hair metal like Poison. I did like alternative stuff like The Smiths, The Cure etc

Still listen to the others to be sure, but there's definitely been some drift over time. I'm generally tired of listening to 90's "alt-rock" though, simply because I've already heard it so many times over the years.

Now: The Killers, Pink Floyd, The Proclaimers, Midnight Oil, Keane. The traditional band, however, is only like half or less. I listen to a lot more single artists or duos.

Based on my year end stats from Apple Music, my top 5 last year were:
Van Halen
The Beatles
Rush
Springsteen
Led Zeppelin
And I’d say that’s pretty close to what I listened to back in the day.
I_am___The_Botman@reddit
I find it too difficult to list them like that, but I can tell you the only album that I have never stopped listening to (for any period of time at least) is UFOrb by The Orb. I mean, I never considered that my favourite, definitely in my top five, but the evidence says otherwise. I'll have to think for a bit about the rest. I can say I've moved more from classic rock, beatles, pink Floyd, led zeppelin , Hendrix, etc... To more electronic, dub, reggae vibes.
