looking at getting a pole that can reach the top of one, i assume a 10m pole can reach the top of the post shown in the pic below?

If it's to remove those stupid pro-Reform / anti-immigration flags then I'm all for it.
Adorable_Past9114@reddit
Most of those are only at half mast
RealLongwayround@reddit
And more than half of the Union Flags are upside down, which is statistically telling.

bingo
i didn’t feel like explaining more in case it broke a rule, just wanted to know the height of the pole
ben_jamin_h@reddit
I bought one of these loppers for trimming branches on a tree in my garden. At 26ft long, it's 7.93 metres long. Hold it braced against your hip and you can get it to about 9m height. It's very unweildy at that length, and very difficult to control at that distance, but it is possible.
Comes in a carry bag, with a rope actuated cutter at the end.

A quick Google suggests they're usually between 5 and 12 m. So, I guess it depends how tall you are - if you're about 6' you'd be able to reach the top with a 10' pole.
What's the purpose?
BG3restart@reddit
I'm confused. 12m is 39'. Couldn't possibly reach the top with a 10' pole. Did you mean 12'?
SnooDonuts6494@reddit
Oops, sorry, I meant 10 m (which is what OP asked).
Sufficient_Cat9205@reddit
Why do you need a pole to to reach the top?
jailbrokemasta@reddit (OP)
look through my post history and you’ll see why
Sufficient_Cat9205@reddit
I shouldn't have to look and it was a genuine question.
jailbrokemasta@reddit (OP)
okay then, flag removals
MrDemotivator17@reddit
Bit weird but to each their own
zeugma25@reddit
cos a length of string would be too flaccid.

A ten metre poll could reach: they aren't ten metres tall generally (maybe motorway ones are).
However, a ten metre poll being manipulated from ground level by hand is going to be hard to use: it will unstable and whip around. It will also hurt your wrists because of that, and thus be harder to grip. Plus a ten metre poll will need to be used at an angle and some distance from the streetlight given that the streetlight will be lower than that height.

thanks
i assume i can hold this? https://www.theflagshop.co.uk/flag-poles-parts/festival-flag-poles/telescopic-flag-pole-10m.html
neilm1000@reddit
Potentially, but I'd be careful of the spike on the bottom. It also looks like it would whip around a lot.

Here you go:
Determining the height of an object using its shadow is a classic application of trigonometry. This method relies on the fact that at any given moment, the sun’s rays hit the earth at a specific angle, creating similar right-angled triangles for objects in the same vicinity. To do this, you need to treat the object, its shadow, and the angle of the sun as a right triangle. 1. The Necessary Components To solve for height (h), you need two pieces of information: The Shadow Length (s): This is easily measured on the ground. The Angle of Elevation (\theta): This is the angle between the tip of the shadow on the ground and the top of the object. 2. The Trigonometric Formula In a right triangle, the relationship between the angle of elevation and the sides is defined by the tangent function:

Depends.

With questions like this, I can only assume that you're a tonne of fun at parties.
Less_Win2234@reddit
Twice half its length
dantes_b1tch@reddit
It's not about the size but what you do with it.
BigComfortable6779@reddit
You can put your flag up any height. Try not to fall off any ladder you bring.
Sufficient_Cat9205@reddit
I think it's removal..
AutobotJessa@reddit
Yeah like others have said... why?
If you were just asking out of interest it'd be odd but fine. But this is just suspicious haha
