Is it normal for vet dental work to cost £800–£1,300 in the UK?

Yes - Husband is a vet and I asked this to him. There's not a lot of profit in this for the vets, as the drugs they use are very expensive, plus like others have said you really can't estimate the full cost until you see how much damage etc there is.

Nope, completely normal. Dentals are incredibly hard to accurately estimate for as you can't really tell the extent of how much work there is and how many teeth need to come out, until they're under anaesthetic, the teeth have been scaled and full xrays have been performed.
