Higher oil prices will make everything more expensive.

“I don’t know how to cook for myself.” Failure.
CarpenterNo263@reddit
I can go to the local Italian deli 1 minute away from the Jersey Mike’s in my town and get the same sized sub with twice the meat, pay the extra for the imported provolone and capicola, get a free soda with it, and it will still be $3 less than a full sized Italian sub at Jersey Mike’s
The_Bloofy_Bullshark@reddit
Yeah we have a place down the road that’s owned by an older couple that charges $10 for their standard large cheesesteaks and either $13 or $14 for their specials. Loaded with meat, it’s a husband/wife operation so they handle everything, clean shop, super nice people.
GuavaZombie@reddit
All the local sandwich places around me went tits up the last few years. Sucks because it's impossible to get a good sandwich anymore when I'm out.
Sgt_major_dodgy@reddit
Prices for pretty much everything will not go back down because why the fuck would they?
It's like covid when every service was using the "unprecedented times" bullshit excuse for delays and just general fucking about and now it's all over that level of service never changed.
OutrageousQuantity12@reddit
I only eat out on special occasions and eat 90% meat/produce from the store so I’m really not feeling the price increases on food.
ZekeTheMunkee@reddit
Wow! 🤯
It’s be nice to get a sandwich from a store tho for not $20
OutrageousQuantity12@reddit
Go to another store then… Which Wich, Firehouse, Subway, and even Potbelly have similar sandwiches (in the fat fuck size too) for less than $15
whirling_cynic@reddit
Blackstone bought them.
Only_Champion_8895@reddit
Honestly, maybe I just have bad taste, but all those sandwich chains Jersey Mike’s, Jimmy John’s, Firehouse Subs they kind of blend together for me. At the end of the day, it’s still just a sandwich. Are the ingredients a bit fresher? Sure. But they’re all big chains now, so it mostly depends on the specific locations around you anyway. Subway is usually my go to, even though it gets the most criticism. To me, it tastes pretty similar to the others more or less. The biggest advantage, though, is being able to build your sandwich exactly how you want it right there on the spot. It’s just easier.
cuntysometimes@reddit
Talks shit about Jersey mikes then sucks subways dick… ok bud
MetalGearXerox@reddit
subway eaters are the food version of starbucks drinkers.
Pervasivepeach@reddit
Buddy they all use the same ingredients and source from the same mass warehouses
RapidXpansion@reddit
jersey mike's uses Clemens Food Group for their meats, it doesn';t matter if the truck says sysco. sysco just drives it there.
subway doesnt even have cappacuolo or prosciuttini
Bum_King@reddit
The bait was plain as day, and you hopped on it anyways.
ElGringoPicante77@reddit
You lost all credibility when you said you eat at Subway and even consider that passable for food. It is definitely not the same - subway could be served at a prison and yo wouldn’t know the difference, whereas most of those other places serve a pretty legit sandwich.
Only_Champion_8895@reddit
Your name sure fits. Seriously, though I think the whole deli sandwiches thing is just as pretentious as the die-hard New York deli lovers trying to convince you paying for a 40-dollar "mom-and-pop shop" sandwich is a good deal and that their "delis" aren't just glorified Subways
lordofpersia69420@reddit
What are you getting? I am not claiming to be above subway but there is a vast difference in taste and quality between the ones you listed and subway. Subway has also gotten so expensive that it is close to the same price as those other sub shops.
Only_Champion_8895@reddit
Mostly tuna or turkey.
RapidXpansion@reddit
yeah if thats all you want subway is ok
but the others have actually tasty meats like cappacuolo and prosciuttini
BanzaiKen@reddit
I hate those places. If you are in a town with a Jersey Mikes, JJ or Firehouse, you are in a town with restaurants with take out better than shitty subs with iceberg lettuce.
basilisk_boi2@reddit
Substation 2 mogs
Only_Champion_8895@reddit
Huh?
Elegant-Sense-1948@reddit
Fuck bro i wish i had your taste bud genetics so i didnt HAVE TO GIVE A SHIT ABOUT HOW FOOD TASTES
Only_Champion_8895@reddit
Why? Just eat whatever you think tastes good as long as you can pay for it. I'm just talking about sandwiches personally. I'm a little more critical when I comes to burgers spots and the like
BDMX@reddit
This has nothing to do with oil prices lol. Jersey mikes is yet another business that used to be decent that was purchased by private equity and will now go to complete shit
RapidXpansion@reddit
it hasnt gone to shit yet and is still quite good
when places slide, it opens up room for competitors
getting a good sandwich is not difficult
BDMX@reddit
Yeah it’s only slightly worse now, once they’re done with the IPO they just announced I’m sure they totally won’t decrease quality and raise prices even more
MarleyandtheWhalers@reddit
A regular size "Mike's Famous Philly" near me costs $10.55 and a giant size costs $18.55. They are 750 and 1500 Calories, respectively.
Anything can be a sign of impending doom if you just lie about it.
RapidXpansion@reddit
mikes sub or jersey is under $9 for a reg and tastes miles ahead of subway
some of these people just dont know a decent sandwich
DinosaurTendies@reddit
Publix and then second would be wawa for me. A chicken tender sub is like $12 now but they always load it up and can easily be 2 meals.
Material-Kick9493@reddit
It's not just the price but the sandwiches are so empty now that its 80% bread and 20% stale cold innards
JustChillin3456@reddit
Make your own for $9
gasman245@reddit
Jersey Mike’s has the best cheesesteak you can get from a chain restaurant outside of Philadelphia.
SureExcuseMe@reddit
These companies have been overcharging for smaller portions and lower quality for years.
AlphaMassDeBeta@reddit
What an absolute turd of a sandwich.
PorcelainPrimate@reddit
Every one of them are using ingredients from Sysco anyway. That's why they all taste the same.
