What is it really like living and studying in the UK as an international PhD student?

I found doing a PhD to be a dreadful experience tbh, as an international student. I’m a very sociable person but most of my peers were quite boring. Most of them hung out with friends they met before PhD. I quit after 3 years when I found a job. But I know people who stayed so it must have worked out for them.

Non-native English speakers are absolutely everywhere in academia. The academic environment is very international.
