Weird, I thought that Stellaris was gaining enough uplift from the extra cores that it was pushing it over some crucial figure that meaningfully gave performance uplift. Maybe it was just the 7000 to 9000 uplift or something.

9950x3d is not for gaming only, its a productivity cpu that can also game

if ur using the 9950x3d for only gaming it literally just acts like a 9800x3d cause its only using 8 cores, which is what the 9800x3d has

I got Ryzen 5700x3D paired with a RX9070 and it still doesn't bottleneck the gpu so I would say you are safe to pick what the others said.

9800X3D is going to be enough even for the 6090 when it comes out in 2027. Lol. It is the best gaming CPU on the market, like 9950X3D/2 gives you like 1-3% boost and you have to pay nearly double.

7800x3d, 9800x3d and 9850x3d can all handle the 5090. There is only a minor difference between the 3 of them at 1080p, if you achieve a CPU bottleneck. At higher resolutions, where you are not in the CPU bottleneck, you'll see virtually no difference.

Well, I suppose you are not that tech person.

OK, let's start from scratch: Games need 6-8 cores generaly.

9800x3D/9850x3D is 8 cores 16 threads with 3D cache which helps games to run better and with less stutters.

9700x is similar CPU but without 3D cache.

9950x3D is a 9700x + 9800x3D badically. 8 cores with cache and 8 without. Additional cores are for better productivity and 8 cores with 3D cache for gaming (8 non 3D cores basically do not work in games, they process background stuff).

9950x3D2 is cool piece of tech as technology but useless as product. No one game can utilize 16 cores 32 threads and you as you said you don't want make work stuff on it. So badically 8 3D cores for you will be enough. In games all these CPUs do not have any differences.

For pure gaming the 9950X3D is silly and the 9950X3D2 is outright dumb.

Dual CCD chips don't perform better because of the latency between them offsets any gain from extra cores. 3D cache on the second CCD does not fix this problem.

Buy the 9850X3D for pure gaming, no matter how wealthy you are. Read reviews if you don't believe me.
