What's the best open source model that comes close to opus 4.6?
Sick of claude's erratic performance and 4.7 has been an absolute shitshow. Want to move to a better solution. Curious about this - lmk folks!

It depends on what you mean by creativity.
Of all the model I have tried locally, GLM-5.1 Q4_K_M is the smartest with the most intuition. The ideas it generates are brilliant. But its prose is not that great, it's quite sloppy.
Qwen3.5-397 is second.
Kimi 2.5 at 3-bit was inferior. I never tried the 2.6.
The most recent Trinity from Arcee is not working properly, it behaves like it had a wrong prompt template (I am using a Bartowski quant) but I have not been able to fix it. I am having the same issue with MiniMax-M2.7.
Deepseek-V3.2 is very good, too, but noticeably less smart than GLM and Qwen. Its strength is that it tends to be darker and the prose is a bit less sloppy.

Its Qwen latest model exact copy of Opus in terms of response and outputs etc, with a little less polished thats my experience in comp bio.

No open-source model truly matches Opus yet best you’ll get is Llama 3.1 70B or Qwen 72B, but they’re still a tier below in creativity and intuition
