Some troubles: Uptdate BIOS
Posted by JayBeCe@reddit | buildapc | View on Reddit | 13 comments
Hello,
I have a problem. My PC works perfectly — it’s a high-end system and I have no issues playing at maximum settings (4K, 165 Hz, max FPS) or performing any kind of tasks without trouble. However, recently I’ve been having problems with two specific games: Marvel Rivals and Overwatch. When I try to play them, I get a warning saying that because I have an Intel Core i9-14900K, I should update the BIOS to the latest version for better compatibility, and at the same time my computer restarts.
I’m not sure what to do. I’m afraid of updating the BIOS, but maybe I should. Any recommendations or advice?
Best regards.

That is one of the cpus that is affected by an issue that was resolved by intel with a new bios version, if youve been using ur pc on the old version of your motherboards bios (the version that doesnt have the fix implemented) theres a big chance ur cpu is already dead

I'm just afraid to uptdate for the incovenience if something crashes.

you’ll be fine. also, if you haven’t had problems prior to updating, your cpu is not going to be dead. but please don’t mistake that with me saying not to update, you should update as soon as possible, then you can get back to playing your games and living a blissful life

This, so much LGA1700 misinformation on Reddit

yeah, i’m afraid that’s just not how cpus work in general. if it hasn’t died yet, it’s most likely not going to magically die when you update

i'll update ASAP I'm back home, i'll let you know how it went.

Suspend Bitlocker before update! And have Bitlocker key printed out or on a different device.

You should absolutely and at once update that BIOS, you risk your CPU degrading if you do not!

Suspend Bitlocker before doing. Or make sure you have your Bitlocker key printed out or available on an other device.

It’s like saying your car engine management light is on with a serious issue but you’re afraid to take it to a mechanic to get it fixed. Updating bios is something you have to do now and then if you want the PC to have full compatibility and run without issues.
