Delivered to Brooklyn once. Told my broker never NYC ever again. Rudest drivers. And I hate to say it, but most insufferable Jewish warehouse motherfuckers I’ve ever met in my life.
I take it roughly once every 6 months just to see if there’s been any improvements. 91 improves little by little. 95 about 20 miles before the bridge is bearable. But holy Mary mother of Jesus the bridge still rocks your shit if you’re doing anything over 25mph. Surely they can shit this shit down for a couple nights and save everyone time and money on suspensions and tire damage for the year
I say this about 270 and 495 going into and around DC. “It’s really late, I’ll be fine.” Every time I regret it. Six months later I do it again and regret it again.
This is always the answer, unless you’re going further then Connecticut— then you take I-87 North up to I-84 E, instead of going up I-95 N off the I-287z
I do a lot of runs to Maine too. If I’m coming from below NYC, I prefer to run 287 > 87 > 84 > 90 > 495 > 95. Although I hate going thru Hartford with a passion. Personally, have bad luck rolling thru it. Always some sort of road drama happening to me.
Overnight driver here. It’s like a $15 toll and adds 15-30 min for me. Missed the exit for 87 one time and thought, ehh what the hell. Roads not bad and you just pop out right on i90. Couple extra service plazas along the way makes this an acceptable mistake.
If you’re just passing through on 84 take 691 and 91 instead, it’s an easy bypass for Hartford unless you actually have to be in Hartford. Adds like maybe 2 minutes
early morning george washington is the way but speed limits always 55. i take that route (which im taking tomorrow) which is longer but speed limits 65 for the most part and it’s a nice drive. a lot of hills and mountains tho so make sure u don’t speed and stick to 68mph max cruising and below 65 down hills
Fortunately I'm usually going all the way down to GA or SC so I just go over to the 78/81 and go through Harrisburg, no Baltimore DC philly NY, just avoid all those traffic hellholes

Always. Every time.

Yay gotta take the GW at least once in your career.
nicerakk@reddit
I tell people this. Then after they take it, I tell them "now try delivering to Javits Center or Long Island Center"

Once in your career?
More like...3-5 times/week.

I’m so so sorry. I hope you have a good therapist.

87 to 90 if tolls aren’t an issue. Avoids all the Bury’s and Hartford.

Thats what im doing. Hartford.... 😒.... hartford is its own animal. Its either chill or shit. No middle.
whats_a_corrado@reddit
Good way to get around Hartford is 72>9>91 then jump back on 84. You can also take 691 to 91 but I don’t want to deal with the scale
yeah-no-yeah-no@reddit
Sounds like this is the way to go! Thanks

Niiiice! I’ll route that way for now on. Thanks

691>91 or my favorite is 72>9>91>84. Only adds a few minutes at most. I run through there 3 times a week in morning traffic
yeah-no-yeah-no@reddit
Thanks for the hot tip!

Nah. Take 684 then 84
yourtruckdrivah@reddit
I’ve done both. I wouldn’t take 684 when it snows
wittywillync@reddit
The real way is only staying on the west coast / midwest. Lol 😆

I’m out here now..this is novice level compared to my usual northeast corridor lol

At 2:31AM I am taking GWB , actually you can drive relatively freely through it between 11pm and 5am
Silent-Room-4987@reddit (OP)
I was south of dc when i took that. :/ otherwise yeah i would've done exactly that
Capt_Cyral@reddit
Nope... that's the "RAPE the truckers wallet region" .. so I stay away.
Used-Chemistry1685@reddit
Not feeling the George Washington today? 😂
bromah3@reddit
Staying out of the northeast is the best way. I prefer free parking and distance from a**holes.

It'll be a cold day in Hell before I ever go to a place calling itself Yonkers.
